Gastric sleeve post op please help
elisa5150 replied to anniecorda's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It's a process. It will take time getting up to both the Protein and Water goals. Remember you can get fluids from more than just water. You'll get there. Give yourself credit. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -
Hi Megan and welcome! Happy to help any way I can. Tough love is my style! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

This is totally dependent on your starting bmi. I started at 35 and dr said to expect to lose 35lbs in 6 months, 70lbs at 1 year. When was the last time you dropped 50 in 6 months?!? Sounds like success to me! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

I thought I'd be less claustrophobic with the nose mask but I couldn't master it. I switched to mouth and nose and it was way easier Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

If we could block people I would end up with about ten people. Lipstick Lady would be our supreme leader and Babbs would wear a crown. I agree the site was not designed to be mean spirited but I believe just as passionately that it was never intended to facilitate the level of coddling and enabling that far outnumbers the criticism. It's fine though. The success rate is low and I intend to follow the plan. Eat shrimp and drink alcohol at day 23- you'll survive. You won't get my support or sympathy but you'll find plenty from others here. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

Speaking for myself, it makes me upset because they are posting about it for sympathy or support. I don't want to be part of someone's bad behavior and certainly don't enjoy watching others enable each other's bad choices. There are so many people on here struggling with a lack of support from family who think they shouldn't have/need surgery, worried about complications or failure. People like OP are the stereotype of wls failure. They make it harder for others. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

I have the most difficulty when I forget my Prilosec. The acid makes me "feel" hungry. I come to the app, read something stupid someone ate, then I'm fine. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

I'm 3 months post op and stalled repeatedly. I'd increase my calories and get another drop. The body is just catching up and reregulating. Check your choices, follow your plan, get enough rest and just keep swimming. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

Planning on having a revision

I've only heard it done in response to severe GERD. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -
I have a goal to weigh weekly and measure monthly, logging both into Baritastic app. I get a bit obsessive and go through phases of weighing multiple times a day. It's ridiculous and not where I want my headspace. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

HIPAA violation: What would you do?
elisa5150 replied to WLSResources/ClothingExch's topic in Rants & Raves
First of all you can't report to HIPAA because it's a law not an organization. You can complain to AMA. The fines are up to $250K dependent on negligence and they are given a timeline to correct the problem. You were asked to shred. This is common. Frequently the accompanying documents will state that if you are not the intended recipient that you should contact sender and destroy. If you are going to request in person then you can return the materials to the office manager. While mistakes like this are alarming it's best to give the organization an opportunity to learn from and correct the mistake. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -
I will be three months post op on 1/18. I have NO regrets. I thought about canceling many times pre op because I didn't want to fail. I kept changing my habits and was finally confident a week before. My sister had the sleeve three years before me and did poorly (due to her own bad choices-no Vitamins, high sugar diet) and is back to her starting weight. I have been diligent with vitamins, following my eating plan. I look better than ever. My skin and hair look great and even though I could be said to be losing slowly, I'm lighter than I've been in 8 years. I get compliments every day. It's a personal choice and surgery is a tool, not a magic wand. Good luck, whatever you decide. HW 232 SW 202 CW 179 Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

I took a month off and could have used another. Is a full time job to manage fluids, meals, meds and rest. I believe I benefited from it being slow and listening to my body. Hang in there Alli Sunshine. A year from now the first couple of months will be a blur. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

1st actual meal 23 days POSt Op
elisa5150 replied to Gucci's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm about to hit 3 months post op. There isn't much I am no longer allowed. That said, Protein first, not to mention the physical consequences of poor CHOICES, makes this easy. Darwin will take care of this. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -
Little Bill I have such a crush on you! Love how you talk about Mrs Little Bill! Thanks for being part of what I can enjoy on BP! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

How long do you stay in the hospital after surgery
elisa5150 replied to queenbee88's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was admitted at 2pm for surgery at 430pm on Thursday and discharged at 2pm Friday. Some people require longer stays for tests, etc. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -
Fellow Plant-Based Eaters, Let's Post! (CHALLENGE)

I would love to go vegetarian but am highly reactive to soy which is problematic to meeting Protein goals. Any suggestions from the vegans? Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -

I had similar issues until week 3. Now the only issue (3 months) is that if I eat or drink too fast or too much I get hiccups, burp, or sneeze. It's weird. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

I not only expect split fees but have frequently encountered a per person minimum. I don't like to waste food by ordering more than I can consume (and I hate leftovers) but I feel worse taking up space in a nice restaurant that could go to someone paying to eat there. I'm sorry you felt you were treated poorly, that's never a good experience. I have to agree with earlier comments that never returning is best justice. Allowing your friends to make nasty comments isn't appropriate. I'd prefer not to sell my character for $3 by overreacting. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
