Jamieson got a reaction from My4Brownies in Do I tell or say nothing.
I only told 3 friends and 2 family members. Only 1 of them knew before the surgery. Although I knew everyone would be supportive, I didn't want to be the centre of attention and discussion. I did tell everyone I was working on weight loss with a nutritionist and that I've changed the way eat to 3 small meals and 2 Snacks each day.

You may be having gas pain which is brutal. If that is what it is, try and walk every hour so it will pass. If you are worried, call the doctor.

Today was my first full day on solids but it was as follows: breakfast- a boiled egg (I had to eat it in 2 shifts) snack- 1.5oz of hummus and homemade cheese crisps lunch - 3/4 of a turkey meatball and a piece of plantain ( couldn't get much down) dinner- a piece of stewed fish and piece of plantain (didn't finish) snack - 1oz light cottage cheese and a dollop of Peanut Butter.< /p>

I had my surgery 6 weeks ago. I was lucky because I had no pain or nausea. The first 2 weeks the gerd was excruciating. It was worse when I would try and drink Water. It resolved after two weeks but then came Constipation. It was brutal and painful and made me feel unwell. Both these things I had not experienced before. I now have figured how to deal with it successfully. The Fluid stage went well but I hated the purée phase. I couldn't handle puréed meat. Meeting the Protein and fluid goals are another challenge. I'm still working on it, but it is getting easier. For a few weeks, I really didn't want to eat. Things just didn't taste right. I now have found things that taste good and I enjoy. I'm full with just eating a little and Saturday satisfied. This is not easy. Everyone faces their own challenges. I did this to be healthier. For those of you struggling, remember, it will get better.

I found meatballs in marinara sauce easy to get down and tasty. You can make up a few and heat a couple in the microwave. They have lots of Protein.< /p>

I'm 5 weeks post op. I've been very lucky because I didn't experience any pain or nausea. The gerd resolved after 2 weeks. I'm never hungry which is great, but I really have a difficult time eating. Nothing tastes okay and I have to force myself to eat something. Has this happened to you and if so, did it get better.

Jamieson got a reaction from jdk524 in Sleevers who wish they had bybass
I had the sleeve because I didn't want to risk complications that can happen with the bypass. My surgery was October 17th. I never experienced gerd before but did have it rather severely for the first 2 weeks and strangely it was worse when drinking Water. That has thankfully passed. I have a high BMI but I'm ok with not losing quite as fast as with bypass. Maybe it will help with lose skin. I am determined to lose all my excess weight, not the 65-70% average predicted.

Thanks to everyone for their advice. I tried some prune juice and restoralax (same as miralax) yesterday and it worked. I am going to monitor carefully so I don't get like that again if I can help it. I'm adding benefibre to my Water and alternating days of prune juice and restoralax to see if I can get back on track. I feel so much better today

Jamieson reacted to VSGAnn2014 in How much did you lose after the year mark?
Oh, heck no -- 12 months is not a cut-off point at all!
I reached my goal (150 pounds) at 8.5 months.
And then 8 months later I had lost another 15 pounds (down to 135 pounds), which is where I'm maintaining at nearly 2 years post-op.
The calendar doesn't control your weight loss. You do.

I didn't find the dietician all that helpful. For me, eating high protein/low carb was pretty much common sense. But my therapist has been invaluable....probably more vital to my long term success than surgery itself. I stopped seeing her around 2 1/2 years out but started again after a severe accident left me bed/wheelchair/walker bound for many months. She helped me work through the depression of feeling useless and regaining some weight. Been on my own almost two years now, though.

You truly can puree anything. I blended Soup, eggs, and chili. I did not blend cottage cheese because it kind of sounded gross. Yogurt is a good staple too...greek. I returned to work at 3 weeks and was on pureed foods. I ate oatmeal for bfast and mostly Soups for lunch. Dinner...I just blended whatever we were having or had blended soup. I did do hummus a couple of times, as well as pintos & cheese (from taco bell) when we were out and about and needed to eat.
