Looking for alternatives to soda
Jamieson replied to Robin Weinrich's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love Ocean Spray diet cranberry. It's 10 calories a glass. I put half a glass and then fill it up with water and ice. It's very refreshing. They have other flavours which I also drink. -
I have coffee first thing. Half an hour later I have cottage cheese with blueberries or yogurt. I exercise in the morning for an hour so I want to get some protein in. Eating in the morning also gets your metabolism going. It is like putting a log in the fire.

I've read different opinions as to whether you can stretch your sleeve by overeating. I'm curious to know what your doctor says. If your sleeve can be stretched, can drinking a large glass of water quickly also stretch it. This week on my 600 pound life I heard the doctor say the sleeve could be stretched.

Very inspiring. Thanks for sharing. Would you share your program? How many calories & carbs? Did you eat snacks?

Fresh fruit (apples, grapes etc..)
Jamieson replied to Kmccusker127's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is always important to follow your plan. I was allowed to try apples and oranges at 6 weeks. The apple was to be peeled. I did eat them without any problem. My surgery was mid October. I can eat any fruit, including the skin on apples . I usually have 1 fruit a day, either an apple or a clementine. I avoid things like grapes because of the high sugar content. -
Day Surgery or Inpatient?
Jamieson replied to kaypitre5's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I stayed one night in hospital and was released with no issues the next morning. -
How are you managing hunger post op?
Jamieson replied to Christina.Rose's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have never been hungry since my surgery 10 weeks ago. -
I put yogurt with milk in the blender and made a shake. I could use regular yogurt, not Greek cause it is too thick.

Proper diet goals after sleeve
Jamieson replied to newleafnyc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told not to worry about calories, especially early on. If you get in your protein and liquids, you won't have any room left. My nutritionist told me if I follow the nutrition plan caloric intake will be fine. However, I do track my calories and 10 weeks after surgery average about 800 a day. -
I am not a doctor, but... (post-op diet progression)
Jamieson replied to theantichick's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Excellent explanation. Hopefully it will prevent some people from risking their lives/health and a great guideline for those who don't seem to understand the protocol. It is not worth the risk. -
I weigh meat. It should be 3 - 3.5 ounces. My plan says a meal should fit in 1 cup.

No. your body is adjusting to the surgery. You are lucky not to be constipated as I was.

Protein/liquids
Jamieson replied to baileymedlin24's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just did my best, but didn't come close to meeting protein goals for a couple of weeks. You are healing. Get in as much fluid as you can and do your best. It will get easier. -
SCARED OF GASTRIC SLEEVE SURGERY!
Jamieson replied to SIR.CKRISS's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is normal to be nervous of surgery. However, it is a very safe, minimally invasive procedure. I had no pain and no complications. Wish I had done it a long time ago. -
I had terrible reflux for about 3 weeks. It was worse when I drank water. Warmer fluids were better. Good news is it went away.

For the Newbies or those considering the sleeve
Jamieson replied to Nikosmama06's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Curious as to how many carbs and protein you have a day. -
I did not have any problem. I love munching on some raw carrots.
-
My program call for 60-85 grams a day.
-
I didn't hav any pain at all. I didn't even need to take Tylenol. I did have intense reflux for two weeks but you can take something for that. Everyone is different so it's impossible to know how you will feel. You can manage the eating if you decide to go.

A hernia could be fixed at the same time as your bariatric surgery.

On the road lunch ideas
Jamieson replied to Ssze1109's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I like the tuna packages with the rice crackers. You could also have some canned beans or a protein bar. I keep some protein bars in the car in case I'm out and get delayed. A cup of milk also has 9 grams of protein. -
When can I take some miralax?
Jamieson replied to Dknal2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

The thought of food makes me sick
Jamieson replied to TMHopkins's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I felt that way till about the 7th week. Then things got better. Nothing taste right. I couldn't comprehend how surgery on my stomach could affect taste but it did. Thankfully, everything is now back to normal. -
THREE THINGS / Just Sleeved
Jamieson replied to sweetchef76's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
1. Weigh/ measure your food. 2. Carefully track your protein no fluids. 3. Don't let constipation go on too long because it can be very painful. 4. Don't compare your weight loss to others or expect it will be consistent. 5. Once you are on solids, try one new thing at a time. 6. If things just don't taste right, be patient. It gets better. 7. Eating out is manageable and others will not notice your eating. 8. It gets easier.
