Curious about rate of weight loss
Mindy78 replied to Lawyeress's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
I had rny October 3rd I'm 5 months out. I was 251 the day of surgery, but my dr goes by pre liquid diet weight of 262. I'm at 201 today. So about the same rate. I was only getting about 500-600 cal and after the initial shock weight loss around 230 mine kinda stopped. I bumped it up to a little over 700 cal and weight loss started again. I stalled last month and was at 209 about 3 weeks then it just dropped 8 lbs in around a week and a half. -
Irritated to say the least. Anyone been accused of drug use?
Mindy78 posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I had surgery October 3rd so I'm almost 5 months out. But started weight loss last January. Well I didn't post on Facebook or tell everyone. People close to me knew or if someone asked. I had a battle with cancer last year and my work was concerned about that, so I fessed up. I got married Saturday February the 11th. Some distant family and friends attended who didn't know I had changed so much. A lady from my church who does know over heard 2 women contemplating "what had happened to me" drugs being one conclusion. Seriously. I'm the last person who would do that. My now husband a police officer by day pastor 24/7 I've never really even drank. Rant over just wondered if anyone not open about surgery ever had that happen. -

This isn't working for me -
I had surgery October 3rd officially it went to fb today. Not by me, but a dear friend has decided to start the process and tagged me in the post. It wasn't a secret and I'm open when someone asks, so I guess I am ok with that. So what feels right for you. It's your choice and only yours, in the end you have to live in your choice they don't. My dear husband was against it we were dating at the time, married a couple weeks ago. He was worried about my health. I by far am not where I want to be yet 4lbs to onederland, but seeing his face when someone said your wife is smoking hot" was priceless. I giggle when I hear oh my goodness you're so skinny, because I don't see it and I'm not there yet. It was all worth it, not for the compliments but I no longer take meds of any kind. This disabled woman, determined to work after disability, no longer hurts all the time. I can work a 40 week in 3.5 days and still be fully involved in my church and spend time with my stepson doing anything he wants to do. Not trying to think of something less strenuous but fun. Good luck on your journey

Mindy78 replied to Mindy78's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Lol yep. I've seen people on drugs some pretty bad, tape worm never personally met anyone, and cancer I have seen a lot. None of the people I saw looked healthy. I've seen people w rny who did look a bit sick right before they started maintenance phase. I'm not there yet. Didn't think I was close to sick, malnourished looking. My start weight was 292 my all time recorded high 334 about 6 years ago. I'm not even in onederland yet. Oh so close but not there. Yes my hair sheds quite a bit but there's a lot left. -

Talking about it doesn't bother me. I had someone ask me can I ask a personal? what are you doing" at my reception and I was honest about it also at that point I had lost 85 lbs and almost half of it was before I had the surgery. That its another tool. I don't eat as much, but I could still eat the wrong things and not loose even gain. I found out at church last night and irritated. Everybody who knows me knows just ask. -
I remember my first cracker lol. I don't eat them often and only 1 when I do. I'm glad I can have lettuce. I like the crunch w/o guilt. Me too on the same thing different day. Makes grocery shopping easy though. Protein shake for breakfast @ 5 tuna and yogurt for lunch which is normally 2 separate meals at 9 and 12 around 3 I have a snack which is killing me at the moment. .5 serving of lunch meat thin slices and Colby jack cheese 1 serving. Most days. Dinners are different and weekends. But Mon- Thursday breakfast and lunch its the same. I stick to that better. Carbs are high cal and most slide through just leave me hungry soon.

And I've lost 17 of those. My goodness -
Just saw your post. If it's really seasoned like dry spices I can't eat it well but love the seasoned tuna packs. Had buffalo for lunch today. It is great to have someone to talk to as well

I take my biotin and vitamins get my protein. Water is my issue. Eating out and finding things I can have is an issue. I'm starting back to the gym this morning between work shifts and errands, its been awhile. I want to be under 200 by mid March. Weekends when we have my stepson is hard. He's such a picky eater. I absolutely hate even driving past those golden arches. My hair has been shedding about a month so around 3 months out. I have a lot so nobody notices except me and my new husband who is gracious enough to clean the drain out. Anesthesia has always made my hair shed anyways and I had 3 surgeries last year. Not complaining I know it will grow back. I track my food and stuff on spark people. I used to take about 8 different meds so forgetting vitamins for me doesn't really happen. I take the b/12 monthly by injection. Bible study is a great way to spend that time. It takes me longer to eat than before. Chicken is hit or miss whether "roo" my pouch will be cantankerous and cooked broccoli may never happen. Most foods I tolerate, some more than others.

I'd love an accountability partner. It gets hard at times.

I did, don't remember what it was. Didn't like what I tried which makes sense because I can't stand oreos. Not sure why I even thought it was a good idea

Can I have a protein shake the first week after surgery?
Mindy78 replied to CantStopMeNow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I came home on full liquids. Protein shakes, sf pudding, yogurt. After 2 days in hospital. Each dr is different. Follow what they tell you -
