  1. Maybe you're having reflux during the night and your throat is sore from that. Sent from my SM-G930V using the BariatricPal App

    Protein

I found it too sweet. I use Fairlife fat free milk mixed with Carnation instant Breakfast light start, with a teaspoon of gene pro Protein. Has 30 Gm of protein and tastes great! Sent from my SM-G930V using the BariatricPal App

    5weeks out

I'm 5 weeks out and allowed anything except uncooked vegetables and fresh fruit (except bananas). Also no seeds. eggs and yogurt for Breakfast, one Protein shake a day with 30 Gm protein, tuna, salmon, chicken (rotisserie chicken is very tender). Sent from my SM-G930V using the BariatricPal App
  5. I had a revision from band to sleeve on 10/17. Recovery has been very smooth since I have already had experience with the full liquids diet and transitioning to soft foods. I get the same "soft sign" to stop eating as I did with the band, a hiccup. Haven't vomited or been nausested at all. I chew my food to smithereens! I haven't had any reflux and continue on carafate and prilosec. No problems getting about 70 Gm of Protein in with one Protein shake and the foods I consume. Have lost 27# since my pre-op diet and am at 184 # now, 4 weeks out. I think my weight loss will be much better with the sleeve than with the band, and no more fills and unfilled! I'm so glad I made the conversion! I was having reflux at night and aspirating with the band, couldn't have much fill in it, therefore no restriction. Sent from my SM-G930V using the BariatricPal App

    Here's a silly question

I started at 211 lb and am 5"2'. I did the liver shrink pre-op diet for 2 weeks and lost 11 lb. Mine consisted of 4 slimfast 20 Gm high Protein, low carb (1gm sugar) shakes, 6 oz lean protein daily, salad for lunch with 2 tbsp low fat dressing (only low carb veggies), and low carb veggies with evening meal. Was very doable, never got hungry and was so glad I got a jump start on my weight loss! Sent from my SM-G930V using the BariatricPal App
  7. I had a revision front band to gastric sleeve.......I never "ate around my band" and it was highly effective for 8 years until I began having reflux during the night and aspirating. Aspiration pneumonia can kill you!! I was unable to have enough fill in my band for it to be effective, so without my "tool"......my weight began creeping back up. I developed pre-diabetes at end began having joint problems due to the weight gain. So glad you surgeon recommended the sleeve. He said it was a restrictive procedure like the band, and since I did so well with the band that it should work for me. Band failure can be completely unrelated to the direct actions of an individual. Sent from my SM-G930V using the BariatricPal App

    My first entry. 11/9/16

I just had conversion from lapband to gastric sleeve on 10/17. Had my band for 10 years. Surgery went smoothly, took only 2hr and 15 min. No pain meds after going home. I did develop pneumonia and had to be on two antibiotics. Have lost 25 pounds so far (including pre-op diet). Sent from my SM-G930V using the BariatricPal App
  10. I am 5 days post-op, lapband to sleeve conversion. How is your recovery going? Sent from my SM-G930V using the BariatricPal App

    Tomorrow is the day

I am also scheduled for tomorrow morning. Conversion from lapband to gastric sleeve. I also lost 10 lb on my 2 week pre-op diet, I think that is the norm. Have complete faith in my surgeon and my worry is whether he will be able to do it in one surgery. Good luck to you tomorrow! Sent from my SM-G930V using the BariatricPal App

    Any October 2016 Sleevers?

Will finish my first week of pre-op diet tomorrow! Down 6 pounds so far. No cravings, actually don't even feel like having my evening shake....but I know I have to stick to the plan. The slimfast high Protein low carb shakes are great. Getting in 90 Gm of protein and day. Surgery on the 17th! Sent from my SM-G930V using the BariatricPal App
  14. I was considered "morbidly obese" at 232#, because of my height and had lapband surgery, lost 70# and was still obese. Due to lapband failure, aspirating during the night, my band was unfilled and I regained a significant amount of weight causing me to be pre-diabetic, have high cholesterol, a fatty liver and severe achilles tendinitis. I had successful weight loss with the lapband, which is also a restrictive surgery. With weight loss from my upcoming gastric sleeve, my health issues should resolve. Just because I have a low BMI doesn't mean I should be a less qualified candidate than someone with a BMI of 45. Co-morbidities kind of evens out the playing field. Before you judge one person to be less qualified then another.....take all data into account Sent from my SM-G930V using the BariatricPal App
