The journey begins - other NJ sleevers?

Good rainy afternoon from Jersey all..... 13 days post op and feeling pretty good. Down 16 pounds since surgery date. Feels good. I didn't lose much on pre op so I'm not even going to include that. Wishing everyone much success Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Left the hospital 14 pounds higher

The NP seemed very concerned about this pain. I have another appointment Tuesday. They are going to want a CT scan As far as the fluids. Down 19 since Sunday. Fortunately the hospital fluids came off Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  3. Surgery was 11/17, I was released on 11/19. And jumped on the scale at home to see 14 pounds UP. I know it's Water weight due to the IV but please share your stories. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Left the hospital 14 pounds higher

Thanks all !! You rock!! My post op appointment is tomorrow (Tuesday). Not sure but I THINK I'll be allowed to advance to full liquids. Another question for you all.... a horrible awful pain about 2-3 inches to the right of the belly button. Not an incision and not the place of the drain. Anyone else have that pain in that place ? November sleevers?

I'm about six hours post op and Cant believe how "good" I feel considering this was my fourth abdominal surgery. What should've taken 45 minutes took three hours due to excessive scar tissue. The gas bloating feeling in my chest is awful Leaving hospital tomorrow. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  8. First day of pre op and of course I'm really hungry and feeling completely unmotivated to do anything. All Clear liquids and broth never tasted so good. I'm visiting family down south next week for four days. My nutritionist said I could have one meal each day while there. The other nutritionist wasn't fond of his suggestion but said ok but "just NO carbs, lean meats..." I was wondering if anyone else ate any meals right in the middle of their pre up? And if so, what were your choices ? Surgery date is 11/17 and vacation is 11/10-11/13 Any tips or suggestions or advice. Thank you!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  9. "A whole lot of grey area" to say the least !! At first I was wondering if it were BMI related. I'm at a 38 BMI. wow, I don't think I've ever said that out loud. Today is day 2. I will do my absolute best next week in the south (of all places) the land of delicious fried food. Lol I could keep away from fried food and fatty foods. Why no veggies tho ? 10. It's soooooo hard. Just one meal a day would take that edge off. But pre op liquids only is terrible !!! Having to go thru the grocery store where all the fresh items were cooking just so I could get G2 and broth was tough. I caved and had a cup of egg drop Soup and of that I ate mostly just the broth so not sure if I'd consider that a "cave" As far as the spaghetti dinner ~~~ you'll be almost half way in ~~ eat before and if you want, just eat salad there (bring your own dressing) That's going to be hard but the only other option is "to not go" and that's not cool. You can't miss it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  11. Yes there are two nutritionists in my doctors office. Both great and agree 99% of the time. Lol. One even holds a post surgery cooking /support class. With that said.... my pre op menu is nothing but Water, G2, certain shakes, decaf tea or decaf coffee, no milk. sugar free Jello and popsicles and any kind of broth. Other than these two weeks prior, there was nothing like this. Four meals during pre op but make them lean ...? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Off track

It's the liver that you need to make lean on this pre op diet. Helps the doc with any complications since the liver is in the way. How many days till surgery? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  16. Ashlie ~ I have had four abdominal surgeries, three of which were at cooper. They are by far, on this side of the river, the best!! Kenney and underwood are where the horror stories are Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  18. Good morning all~~ It appears that this thread goes back to 2013 and I'm just jumping on it now because I, too, will be having VSG by Dr. O'Connell. Dr O'Connell is partners with Dr. Patel. He did my lap band removal last year and within one year I gained 50 pounds and that was with a lot of dieting so imagine if I had not. I think my body had starved for so long with that dreadful band that ultimately slipped, that my metabolism has slowed down even with medicine, it's just not allowing me to lose weight. But Josie and Josh both explained to me that this surgery is almost like a restart button or a reset button. I just wanted to chime in and see if any of you would tell me how you're doing all these years later and how your experiences & successes are and were with these great doctors. I'm scheduled for November 17th. One week exactly before thanksgiving. lol I had the lapband removed last summer of 2015 cause it slipped. That band was hell for the entire 4.5 years I had it. I'm scared and excited. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
