Insurance is changing at the first of the year. December will be my 6th month of supervised diet as my old insurance (Anthem BCBS Ohio) required. Now there are all new requirements with Meritain/Aetna, my new insurance that is effective January 1, 2017 Has anyone been through this before ? I am so worried and frustrated. @@teedsg Hello... I thought the same and I took the at home test and it came back negative. Waisted $350!!! Do you have any other comobibtities ? I'm in my 5th month of supervised diet. I don't have one of the 4 the comobibtities. However I am praying the will consider my other health issues. Athem requirments are BMI of 40 or greater, or BMI of 35 or greater with an obesity-related co-morbid condition including, but not limited to: diabetes mellitus; or cardiovascular disease; or hypertension; or life threatening cardio-pulmonary problems, (for example, severe obstructive sleep apnea, Pickwickian syndrome, obesity related cardiomyopathy) .... I have venous insufficiency ( high blood pressure in my veins basically) in both legs caused by obesity. I had 17 veins stripped from my legs 2 yrs ago and I'm scheduled for both legs again in Jan. These could lead to stroke and dvt (blood clots) and I have arthritis as well, along with some other issues. So I hope this will fall into the statement "but not limited too". I am so worried about getting denied. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

I'm also going through a similar situation. I'm 49 My bmi is 36. I don't have a severe comobibtity. I also have DDD and had fusion surgery on my neck c5,c6 &c7. I have arthritis in my back neck and knees. Also dvt that is requiring a 2nd surgery to strip varicose veins. sleep apnea should get you through. Any Dr note that states weight loss would improve the medical situation. I'm not sure mine will be enough to be approved on what I have. I am going in my 5th month and my Dr will submit the paperwork in November. Keeping my fingers crossed, Good luck to you !!!!! Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

TJ1257 replied to TJ1257's topic in Insurance & Financing
Awesome thank you !! My email address is tabs1257@gmail.com I really appreciate it. I'm have spent so much money on different tests. My cholesterol levels are good and no sleep apnea. I'm just so worried because I don't have a severe comobibtity. I have arthritis, degenerative disc disease ( had surgery to fuse my c5-c6-c7 in my neck ) severe migraines due to that, dvt and varicose veins that requires vein stripping surgery....again ( Dr wrote in a recent statement that it is due to weight gain.) I had gallbladder surgery too. My bmi is only 36 Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App -

Approval with low bmi and no comorbidities?
TJ1257 replied to TJ1257's topic in Insurance & Financing
I did a sleep study and was told I do not have sleep apnea . Only thing I can do now is get my cholesterol checked I guess and pray it's high enough ... I looked online for a listed of Anthems less common comorbidities that are possibly covered. Arthritis, back pain, pulling of blood in the lower extremities are a few... I have all 3 of those. Just not sure that will be approved. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App -
@@khoktzen severe sleep apnea is considered not breathing 45 times in the night. I know this bc I just took an at home test, was mine was only about half that. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

Mother /daughter sleevers at the same time, worried on both approvals
TJ1257 posted a topic in Insurance & Financing
I have BCBS -OH and my daughter and I both are in our 4th month of the supervised diet. She is 22 with a bmi of 40 with asthma. I am 49 with a bmi of 36 with degenerative disc disease (fusion surgery)back pain, arthritis, sleep apnea (home test tomorrow to find out if its considered mild or severe) dvt, gallbladder removed due to gallbladder disease. I know these are not severe comobibtities which is why I'm concerned. Has anyone ever had their insurance approve 2 family members at the same time ? We really hope to be going through this journey together. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App -
I thought I was lactose intolerant for a few years. It turns out that it was my gallbladder going bad. Had it removed and can now eat anything. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App
