DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO!
The New Kel replied to pensanefloetry's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I agree with everything @@Caribear said. On another note, this is just my opinion, but in the scope of marriage there are far, far more difficult and serious matters that will come up within the scope of your life together. Not having surgery on the same day to me sounds trivial compared to a lot of other issues. If she makes a huge deal out of this, how can she handle bigger stuff? Just my thoughts. Good luck and best wishes to you both. -
Welcome home KristenLe! Sorry to hear you had such bad nausea. Man do I ever know about the Chewbacca tummy. Day and night, the roaring and growling! I hope you feel good very soon! Welcome to the losers bench and to your new life!!

Graduated to soft food! What I had today..
The New Kel posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I saw my surgeon and my NUT today, 16 days post op. I was thrilled to graduate to soft foods! On my way home, I stopped at Whole Foods. For my first meal after a full month of liquids, I had two of my favorite things: Ahi tuna Sashimi (I had three little slices, about 2 oz total) and tonight for dinner I had about two bites of salmon and the "meat" of very soft steamed artichoke, about 3 leaves. It was so funny to look down at my plate and see my teeny tiny dinner! And I was full soooo fast. I'm very happy to be open soft foods. I love to cook and experiment, and I love fish, so...yay! -

Today was a good day as far as getting my Protein in. Morning: over easy egg with veggie sausage patty. Veggie patty was awful and made me ill s I gave it and the rest of the package to the dog who seemed to love it.. The egg was great. = 6 g protein 5 oz Isopure Protein Drink. Not the greatest flavor, a bit "mediciney" but drank it. = 10 g Noon= 2 oz tuna w/ lite mayo. Yum. = 11 g Afternoon= low fat cheddar slice with one slice of turkey. I find this goes down well with no issues. = 15 g Isopure 5 oz =10 g Dinner: Oven baked chicken strips. I had one, about 2 oz. = 13 g Isopure 5 oz =10 g Altogether I reached my 80 g just about. Still working on my Water for the day! -
I'm only 19 days post op but I could sleep on my stomach after about 5-7 days. I am primarily a stomach sleeper so I'm glad it didn't take long. I got the OK from my surgeon to start exercise at 2 weeks. no weights though for a while. I can't comment on the feet/calves yet. Too soon. We will see in a year! My parents and husband and daughter know. My friends and extended family do not. I know they will all start asking questions when the weight loss becomes noticeable, I don't know what I will say yet. I was also told no asparagus. Too fiberous, apparently.

3 Words: Weights, Weights and Weights!

Wow, great progress! I am looking forward to weights as well, and I think about 5 weeks post op will be a good time to start. I'm just now starting cardio, 18 days post op. Your post makes me think that during stalls a change up in exercise might just be the trick. Thanks for sharing your wisdom and success! -

Can eat 4oz with no problem!
The New Kel replied to mallnut's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can eat 3 oz if it is mushy like tuna with lite mayo, cottage cheese or soup and the like. I can only eat 1 or 2 oz of meat such as soft chicken or salmon so far. I am 18 days post op. -
Just tried a (veggie) sausage patty. Nope. Not happening...if I could just rewind an hour. (ack!)

Loved ones not supportive.
The New Kel replied to Alistmurf's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I would ask why his mom is so against it. What could her reasons be? Then I would have a heart to heart with him and ask him why HE is against it. Ultimately, if he wants you to be happy and healthy, he will support you. It is your body, and no one can forbid you. -
Exercise habits?
The New Kel replied to GACaldwell's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's awesome!! But you don't have to be "fit" to do yoga!! I also teach body inclusive classes that are designed for people who are in bigger bodies, older, recovering or new. Most people only know the super thin instagram type yoga people but there are tons of people who do yoga at every size and shape! I don't know about pilates but I do know that yoga can be accessible to everyone so i encourage you to try it! My Dr let me go back to it after just 2 weeks and I was so very glad he did because it really helped me mentally and emotionally get through recovery. @@GACaldwell, Thanks for that info! I would love to start now. I just need to check around and see if my town has a class for 'fat ladies', lol! I would HATE to be the one fat lady in the class!! -
I was getting 60-80 oz a day in up until I started eating soft foods. Now I find it harder to get all 64 oz in since any food at all totally stuffs me.

I am curious about tummy tuck financing. Once I lose the weight if I ever want to consider it, is it strictly out of pocket pay? For those of you who have had it, dod you pay it all up front? What is the average cost?

Exercise habits?
The New Kel replied to GACaldwell's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Before I got really heavy I loved being active. The gym cardio equipment gave me a huge rush, and I love the after effects an hour or two after a good workout. I always felt so good! My husband is super active. He runs a lot and he hikes. One of my big reasons to have surgery was to get back into shape to join him. Today, I go back to the gym for the first time in ages. I'm excited actually! I would like to try yoga/pilates once I get fit enough. -

I felt like everyone was staring at me at the gym
The New Kel replied to gustavio's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@gustavio, I can understand! I am terribly self conscious, and the gym can be so intimidating. I am going today for the very first time since I just go my OK from the surgeon. All I can say is that you rock for going, no matter what anyone may or may not be thinking. You are miles ahead of those who don't go at all. Everyone has to start somewhere, and I think you should be commended for going! If you really are being judged, screw 'em. The group of ladies you saw coming in when you were leaving might be a great way to start enjoying yourself, perhaps try to go when they go, introducer yourself and get workout buddies! Hang in there and don't get discouraged. You have all of us in your corner, all of us also heading to the gym with the same feelings. Keep the rewards in mind! -

Today I tried out canned tuna mixed with a bit of low fat mayo. Wow was that good. Then for a snack I had a deli turkey slice with cheese wrapped in it. Went down very smooth without pain! I am actually close to 60 grams of protein today, its getting a lot easier to get the protein in now with food! -

The New Kel replied to The New Kel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh it sure is nice to bite into something and actually chew! I was so excited about chewing yesterday that I bit my Cheek during my first bite of tuna! I am being vert specific in the grocery store now too. I used to throw anything in the cart that looked appealing. Now I really think about it. The portions are so funny. I was at work today with this teeny condiment cup of tuna. And boy was it good, and filling! -
