    NSV of sorts

    Yup LOL!!!!
  4. @@Dknal2 Congrats on your journey! I can relate to a lot of what you said. You and I had the same surgery start weight and very similar goals. My breaking points were both health related and body shame. As for my health, I couldn't walk up even one flight of stairs without having to rest and feel sick. My husband is super outdoorsy active and I wanted to join him so bad. Also, a family history of heart disease. My 45 year old brother had a heart attack. My mom cried, saying she feared I was next. That was enough, by psychologically I was really suffering. I was so ashamed of my photos. I began to recluse and not attend family and other functions because of shame. Began to self loathe. Diets NEVER worked. So in a nutshell, fear of having a heart attack along wth self shame prompted me to getting surgery. And I am soooo grateful I did. I also can relate to a lot of what @@Laughkc11 said. The sadness, isolation, etc. Oh! Edited to add: Two years ago I had a literal stroke isolated to inside my right eye. It was 100 percent BP related. In the ER my BP was 200/100. My husband thought he was going to be a widower.

    NSV of sorts

That's a funny story! I agree...bullet dodged! My ex is one of those Plexus gurus. Haven't seen him in a couple years. He sent me a message recently asking if I wanted to join his Plexus clan and view the slideshow. Thought I might benefit from his products. I just laughed knowing how surprised he will be next time he sees me.

    Perspective

I love this perspective! Just this morning I was telling my husband about how I can effortlessly take the stairs up to my office now. 3 months ago I carried an extra 50 pounds. I cannot fathom carrying this 50lb bale of hay up the stairs before. Also of note, I just read that the average make octopus weighs 100lbs. That's my goal. Lose an octopus.
  9. I haven't enjoyed clothes shopping since I was 17 years old. 30 years ago! Now I am actually enjoying it! I love to go into stores even when I am not going to buy something just to see that it fits and looks good. I know that is obnoxious probably to retail employees but dang that is fun. For the past couple decades I have hated shopping. I was always somewhere between a 16-22w. Now I can shop in "regular" sizes and stuff is starting to look good. I'm happy but my budget might take a beating. I just got this blouse in a large. The picture is from the online ad, obviously not me lol. Cannot believe it fits. I would have NEVER bought something like this before. (I lived in black stuff that was baggy).
  10. It's a NSV that is really freeing. I hated going to plus sized shops that only seemed to carry hideous clothes. The main reason I am so happy donating my too big clothes now is because they are so ugly! I still don't know why fashion retailers haven't figured out that plus sized women want to look good, too. Not be relegated to wearing the ugly stuff that is on the racks.

    Stomach Spasms- with sleeve.

I have had stomach spasms since surgery, unfortunately I still do. I take an antispasmodic pill before most meals.
  13. Look at you!! You already look like a different person!! I think we were sleeved around the same time. It's great to see your success, sleeve sister! Congrats and keep up the amazing work!!

    Okay, I'll take it!

Congratulations!! What a wonderful Christmas gift!! You are true inspiration to us following in your footsteps.
  15. Just wondering how my fellow October sleevers are doing. Mine was Oct 3rd so I am just over 8 weeks out. I'm doing well and feeling really good. My only issue is that eating is a challenge. I am supposed to be on "regular foods" but find myself defaulting to soft foods all day. meat is really hard to tolerate now. I love steak and I had tried it two weeks ago and it was amazing. I tried it last night and it came back up. I am rarely hungry anymore. I kinda miss normal food in general. I have to remind myself to drink my fluids. I have been bad about that! I have been drinking coffee in the morning, because coffee is life, lol. I love going into stores and seeing what sizes fit. I started at a 20 and now am comfortable in a 14, and I have my sights set on that 12 for Chistmas My husband is flattering the hell out of me lately. Always telling me how slim I am getting. Of course he is exaggerating but I'll take it :-) How is everyone else doing? Holiday concerns? Success? HW: 240 SW: 219 CW:196

How do I edit my profile

Depends on what you want to edit. If you want to edit basics like profile picture: Go to your name at the right top of the screen, select Profile from the drop down, then click the Edit Profile button. If you want to enter or edit/update stats like weight, height: Click on your name at the top right of the screen, then in the drop down menu select 'my surgery'. It brings you to a place where you can edit the stats that show up on the left of your posts.

  19. I've been very restrictive with carbs so far. I am considering adding a few "safer" complex carbs in strict moderation. I have read that oatmeal is OK. Steel cut even better? What are your thoughts on oatmeal? I have also not had any bread since surgery. I feel its safest to stay away from it, period. And sadly, no potatoes at this point in my journey. Wow did I love potatoes before! (Still do...but will wait ti ll I reach goal to incorporate them moderately.) If you incorporate complex carbs into your diet, what are your top 3 that have not hindered weight loss?

    Scales are not moving!

Worry not! It's normal. Put into the search field "stall" and you will get about 1000 hits. Frustrating yes but totally normal. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

What's your top 3 "safest" carbs?

Tootsietoes, I will adjust my intake when I've reached my goal. But for now I want to restrict carbs but maybe try some complex ones in moderation. I admire your success by eating what you like in moderation. Personally I cannot go near fast food even in moderation. I have a food addiction to most fast foods. Thanks for posting your sample diet. Which of the carbs would you say are your top three? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Heart rate recovery question

Hi all! I am 11 weeks post op. I have a question about how my heart feels after an overly strenuous activity. When I do cardio for 30 minutes at the gym I am fine and my heart seems to return to resting rate after about 20 minutes. However, on a couple occasions I have attempted to hike with my husband, I am sure I am over-doing it. We hiked Monday (4 days ago), a 4.2 while hike with an elevation gain of 1100 ft, first 2 miles up, then last 2 miles down. it was in high-desert so the top elevation was 6800 ft. Did it in about 2 hrs. I was exhausted. My heart rate took a few hours to return to resting. However, for the next 3 days, my heart pounded hard with any sort of action...getting dressed, getting out of the car, short walking, raising out of bed. I thought perhaps it was dehydration? So I drank more Water that usual and now 4 days after the hike I finally feel normal, no more hard pounding heart. I used to experience this occasionally pre-surgery, when I was 50 lbs heavier. I had a full cardio work up and they found nothing wrong with my heart, thank goodness. Now being lighter I didn't expect to feel it. Could it be that I just am not in cardio shape enough to exert myself to this extent? I know I over did it. I worry about my heart/cardio because my brother had a heart attack at age 45. Just wondering if anyone has felt this pounding heart sensation days after hard exercise?
  23. I think that might be my problem, too. For the past two weeks I really haven't made myself eat more than 600 calories. I need to get more in...just have zero appetite anymore. And, probably not coincidentally, I've stalled again.
