Hi. My anticipated surgery date is March 2017 (gastric bypass). My insurance requires six consecutive nutrition classes. I've already had my psych evaluation, GI testing and blood work. My heart and lung tests are scheduled. I was told to begin finding suitable Protein supplements. Have any of you researched Protein shakes? Good lock to you all. I hope to find some friends as we start our journey! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Payment after insurance, when will i have to pay?

Hi, I am in WV and have Highmark BCBS. My company went to a high deductible plan with health spending account last year. I highly suggest you take advantage of the HSA. If you are familiar with Flexible Spending Account, it is lose if you do not use! With HSA, your deposits roll over. Last year I made sure I had enough in there to pay for my deductible for the year. It's worked very nicely. Your hospital will work through your payment plan with you. What will be nice, is your deductible will be paid early in the year so all subsequent medical bills can be billed to your insurance. -
So excited. I met with my surgeon and had my first nutrition appointment this week. Looks like a March surgery date. My husband and daughter went with me for support and to ask questions. This time next year, I will be healthy!!! Anyone out there with a Feb-Mar surgery date?

hair loss is definitely a concern of mine, but one I'm happy to endure for health. I've read that it typically resolves and I have a friend almost 9mos postop who said her hair is coming back now, however, and hadn't noticed the loss. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Hello. My first doctor visit and education class is next week. I expect my gastric bypass surgery to be six months from now. I did a good amount of research before making my decision, and I am eager to start my journey. I know I will have questions answered next week, but am eager for answers now. My biggest fear is my BMI is close to being too low, however, I have many weight related health issue (D2, HBP, and High cholesterol). I am hoping to be able to diet a bit before surgery. Anyone in a similar situation?- 4 replies

That looks very much like what mine says, thank you. I will, of course, discuss with my Dr. next week. I would love to shed a few pounds because I am so uncomfortable.
