Travelher replied to Cinnahs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I thought I was hungry too until I was prescribed Prevacid for reflux and my hunger was gone. It was acid, not hunger -

Question for the ladies:
Travelher replied to shortyp79's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
it depends on how much of your breasts is fat vs. breast tissue and that comes down to genetics. I know I will not lose significantly from my boobs because genetically i have big boobs and have already had one breast reduction. Post reduction I ended up at around a 36 D-DD (i was around 150 lbs), but it is all breast tissue. I am currently a 38 DDD so will shrink a bit, but frankly since the rest of me has shrunk so much my breasts look bigger than ever before, I'm looking forward to them shrinking down a bit. -
Drinking before and after eating
Travelher replied to rdy2Bsleeved's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
let me add to that if you have RNY and you drink with your meals you increase your risk of dumping. -
Daily calorie amount?
Travelher replied to Jcreasey's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
in the early weeks you don't need to be worrying about calories. just work on meeting your Protein, Water and and Vitamin goals. Once you are further out you can start working on getting your calories up. I'm 4 months post op and range between 800-950 now will goal being 950. in the first month it was more like 400-600, then 500-700, then 700-800. but early on the focus was more on protein and water. -
Totally normal. if you search this group you will see thousands of posts about this usually 3rd week stall. My first one lasted a week. for some it lasts longer. I stall about once a month.

Has anyone experienced this before?
Travelher replied to doxaholic's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
may be a compressed nerve or nerve damage. I had that happen when my wisdom teeth were taken out. they compressed a nerve in the jaw and it took. months to get the feeling back in my lips. When they started tingling i knew the feeling was starting to come back and the nerve was repairing itself. -
For most people 1000-1200 should do it. I wouldn't go below 1000. Either follow a Keto plan or a macro plan. Macro is 35% carb (complex carbs only) 25% fat and 40% Protein. I started with keto and switched to macro. my rate of loss actually sped up when i switched to the macro plan.

Starting out at age 45? How common?
Travelher replied to KS123's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Happy birthday!!!!! YOU LOOK GREAT!!!Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App Thanks! -
I am eating about 800 calories a day and 80 Protein. I am walking about 8,000 steps a day and do aerobic type videos 2 to 3 times a week. I have been on a stall for 6 weeks. I think I might need to join a gym, yikes.Sent from my XT1254 using the BariatricPal App . Those calories sound low to me. I'm 4 months post op and getting around 950 a day. And I'm just walking 10k a day. You may need to up the calories or even try a new food plan to shake things up. I moved to a macro plan earlier this month and dropped faster. 35% complex carbs 25% fat 40% protein.

Need Revision to a Vertical Gastric Banding

I just had a revision to rny. I love it! So much better!!! CHose that because I had reflux with the band so the sleeve was out. -
Best friend totally unsupportive.
Travelher replied to Mrs Swen's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Doesn't sound like a very nice person from the texts. None of my friends have ever talked to me like that. They don't read like "I'm worried or concerned for you". Sorry you aren't getting support there. I'm glad your husband is supporting you. -
Bed ridden day of surgery up walking for hours first night (snoring roomate). Worked one week later (from home) in the office 2 weeks later.

Best friend totally unsupportive.
Travelher replied to Mrs Swen's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
That is just weird. I don't get why some people are not supportive. I have yet to meet someone who wasn't supportive. What is her rationale? -
I take miralax...works well for me. Ps you will love the bypass...infinitely better than the band
-
Do not get the band!!!! The research says if you do your chances of another surgery are about 50% by year 10 and continue to go up thereafter because of complications. I personally never would choose a surgery with a 50% long term complication rates that are severe enough to require surgery. Unfortunately that data was not available when I got mine so I became a statistic and had my band revised to bypass last year. Love my bypass.

Gastric bypass- Toronto Ontario - they wont do a sleeve?
Travelher replied to stefanie0804's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Was wondering because I had dr Christou and he said virtually the same thing, verbatim about why he preferred bypass. Sleeve was my backup plan. -

Tara, who was your surgeon? -
Where is everyone from City & State
Travelher replied to TammyLee66's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
toronto, Canada -
Yep we are all in the same boat. I am somewhat dismayed that people are still getting banded today. But live and learn. Find an expericed surgeon with revisions and youll be like the rest of us wishing you had done it sooner.
