    Boobs !

I'm tossing around getting a second reduction after all is said and done. I had my first when I was 16 and I'm still a ddd...am hoping my boobs will magically shrink with my weightloss, but no such luck so far.

  4. if you want to thicken it up add a little chia seed they will absorb some of the liquid...I use vanilla Premier Protein. and sometime will add an extra tablespoon of the premier vanilla powder as well. that helps thicken it a bit too. My current recipe is 2tbs oats, 1/2 tbs chia, 1tbs of premier powder, 1/2 premade premier protein some cinnamon and apple

    Band vs Sleeve

Actually slippage isn't mentioned in the 2013 study...these were the complications and rates..... "A high number of revision procedures were performed-proximal pouch enlargement (26%), erosion (3.4%), and port and tubing problems (21%)." Happy you are happy and I hope you stay in the 50% with no issues. I never had a slip. I had irritation, reflux and then eventually device broke. I lost as well and I felt great as well for the first 3 years. The point of my post is for people to know that if it does go bad...don't put your head in the sand. Do something...

    Band vs Sleeve

You can disagree but his percentages are based on real studies not people's feelings. Even the most positive band study that recommended the band as a viable option had a 50% complication rate. Hopefully you'll be in the 50% with no issues and you will have a very good malpractice case if you are not because surgeons are well aware of this data now. Make sure you hang onto any data and information your doctor gave you about the band...just in case.
  8. I hope you are doing better now. And things have improved. My recommendation is that if your band is causing issues definitely get a defil. Don't try and live with pain and or issues for an extended period. Two of my friends just found out this week that they can't have revisions because of the irreparable damage the band caused. One found out before her band removal that she has irreparable esophagus damage and the other had her band removed a year ago and when they went to do her rny they had to close her back up...there was so much adhesion and scar tissue they couldn't even find her stomach. On another board a woman shared that she had been vomiting blood for months does is just now seing a doctor about it. my rny was smooth sailing and I suspect it may have been because of my being defilled As long as I was. it minimized the damage. We are our own best advocates my recommendation is as soon as someone has issue, get it checked out!
  9. Just a stall it happens, sometimes you just need to wait them out. I've had many as you can see. Did nothing to try and move them other that wait.
  10. Yep, I fully expect to have rocks in socks at the end of this. but ambivalent on whether I'll do anything about it. So far i have lost nothing in my boobs. but I mean it is going to have to come off there at some point right? Im at a 32 BMI right now. To be honest they are the biggest impediment to me fitting into my smaller clothes. I have about 4-5 inches to lose in the chest/back to get into my size 10 dresses. They fit everywhere else, so maybe the next 15 will come off of my chest/back
  11. Stalling is normal in weightloss so is gaining before dropping. It is not indicative of where you end up. Don't restrict calories or you really will stall. Trust the procedure and the process and follow the plan and you will drop. Here is my graph for some perspective. Notice how it does not look like a straight line? Lots of bump ups and plateues but it is clear what the overall trend is...
  12. congrats on your success! are you revising to another surgery or just removing the band?

    Sweet Tooth...

Makes sense if you end up someone who dumps...it becomes negative reinforcement. Not everyone dumps though. I do.
  15. I've always had that issue. My dr had me add miralax. Do 1/2 cap every day and am perfect now.

The good, the bad and the ugly.

I revised to RNY. I had reflux with the band so it was a no brainer to go to RNY. I use Vitamin Patches and so far no issues with vitamin levels. I am not concerned. Dumping is manageable if you are even someone who does get it. I get it if I eat (or drink my Protein shake) too fast (large gulps vs sips...so I don't eat too fast, then I don't get it. Pretty simple. I haven' t tested out sugar (other than a bite of my husband's dessert) and that was fine. If i sat down and ate a whole dessert would I dump? Maybe...probably...i'm not going to try to find out. I did ask my Dr about dumping because that was a concern for me (still wanted to have avocado with sushi etc). he said none of that would be a problem. He described a patient who would eat a bowl of Pasta, wait 15 minutes and then eat another one etc as the type of behavior that would cause dumping.

  20. I had both done at the same time. My dr said it depends on scar tissue. He's done hundreds of revisions so he can tell by eyeballing it if the scar tissue is too thick to hold staples (then you get leaks). So if too thick my option was sleeve because they can cut around it or come back for a second surgery. Erosion is an automatic 2-procedure situation. I was lucky. He said mine was pretty clean and got rny...my roommate ended up sleeved because he had adhesions etc.

    Expected Weight Loss

Well "average" for your weight and height would be a loss of 73lbs. Their calculations assume no loss of muscle which is unrealistic as well because we all will lose muscle as well as fat. I'm no longer carrying around 70lbs, my body just doesn't have to work as hard. If you could just zap all the fat off, we'd all look pretty cut!
