Wow Jane1979 that is insane! People are crazy. Amazing how culturally there can be a lot of pressure to eat, but god forbid you look like you like to eat.

My surgery is October 4th. I've been on the liquids for a week and at the moment I am starving. My Nut told me it is ok to have low carb vegetables and bouillon so I made a pureed veggie soup which I use in those moments when I need to eat or I'm going to loose it. It has helped me stay on plan...I'm dropping weight to so that is good. I couldn't take it if it was just the sweet shakes all day long. I may go out and try to find sugar free Popsicles just so I can have something to chew on.

Stefanie, where in toronto are you? Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -
I get it Tammy, I'm kind of in the swing of it now. Are you allowed bouillon and veggies? I did a puréed zucchini Soup that I'm loving now. As long as it isn't just shakes I can manage. Try switching up the shakes. I had to turf the Optifast I was given. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

My dietician said vegetables and bouillon are ok. Just made a garlicky puréed zucchini soup. So good. I'm gonna be able to do this. Found the recipe on Pinterest. Just did a search under bariatric and found lots of recipes. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -

I'm going from band to bp on October 4. Started my liquid diet on Tuesday so almost 1 week in and just over 1 week to go. Been sick so that has added to the challenge. I feel like I'm over the hump now and just praying that I've kicked this cold for good this week Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -

Any October 2016 Sleevers?
Travelher replied to bkskinny's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
October 4 for me. And starving. Told my husband he needs to cook his own meals for the next week and a half...too torturous. Found myself perusing food porn on Pinterest last night for an hour Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -
I'm like you. I have artificial sweeteners. GNC has a shake called lean shake. That is the only one I've been able to tolerate Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

Gastric bypass- Toronto Ontario - they wont do a sleeve?
Travelher replied to stefanie0804's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Stefanie, I'm in toronto too. I'm going to Montreal for a revision (self-pay). I looked into both. Like others have said. Bypass is the proven gold standard, so should not be something to be too concerned about. I'm the opposite of you. I've been told they may not be able to do a bypass because of scar tissue and my have to do a sleeve. I won't know until I have woken up which I got. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -

Thanks. I'm working from home all week and taking it easy (which I almost never do) so I can beat this thing. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

Oh man I'm allowed veggies and bouillon that's it. I'd kill for a bit of olive oil right now. The worst is cooking for the family...the smells...torture Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

Best Decision I Ever Made.
Travelher replied to nursey10465's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I have mine scheduled on October 4. I'm hoping for a revision to bypass. What my doc said to me is that it depends on the scarring. He said if the scarring is too bad he won't be able to do a bypass because they won't be able to properly close the incision. So I was given 2 options. If the scarring is bad, they will remove and then I'd have to go back later once the scarring reduces or they can do a sleeve in which case they just work around the scar tissue. I've told him to do the sleeve if he can't bypass. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App I'm planning to take, one week and then 1 week working from home. The good news is the dietician told me I can switch to the gnc shakes, which while not great are tolerable. She also told me I can supplement with vegetables or vegetable soup. So I'm in a good place now, now I just have to work my way up to four shakes a day. Only did 3 yesterday, but I know I need to do 4 to hit my protein goals. Yesterday was super hard because I had an ultrasound at 3 and was told I could eat nothing for 6 hours prior so had to cram my shakes in afterwards. Down 6lbs as of this morning.

I haven't tried ice. thanks. I've put a call into the dietician at my dr's office to see if I can substitute. I had band surgery in 2005 and I remember going on a liquid diet, but no shakes. I remember doing bouillon and sugar free Jello and stuff. I've tried GNC golean shakes before. I don't like them but i can tolerate them so I'm hoping she'll be ok with that. on the bright side my teeth have never been cleaner now that i'm brushing them 5 times a day to get rid of the taste.

Good luck! I go in for my band to bypass revision on October 4.
