Did you lose proportionately ?
Travelher replied to AuntyFabulous's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
everyone is different. I am hourglass too and I find when I have lost in the past I became even more so (I never lost from my boobs and very little from my hips). We shall see this time. I gained weight on my tummy after my pregnancy with my son and that is new for me. -
mine came the day before. I just brought pads with me and my own underwear. they were removed prior to surgery and I went commando for the surgery itself.

re: About 6 years ago I had a lemon sized brain tumor removed from my noggin. I was a national recruiter for a large company at the time. My Regional Manager called me while I was in the ICU to ask if I had recruited any of the nurses. He was completely serious. OMG Lipstick Lady...I work in HR and one of my phone calls was to ask about salary expectations for a candidate we were making an offer to. HR people...hey...

typically it would include all fluids (teas count). Yesterday was the first day i got to 64oz..yay. I'm still on a Fluid diet so I'm trying to get through at least 3 16oz bottles (500ml) of Water a day plus my other fluids...I want to eventually get to 4. so I try and finish one bottle in the am, one in the afternoon and one in the evening.

Ugh so much going on with my body
Travelher replied to kblanc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have Soups and stir in unflavored Protein powders as well. I'm avoiding yogurt as I don't tolerate it well. -
Pre-Op liquid diet day 1
Travelher replied to BrookeTiffani's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
oooh Annie819 that is tough. I had Canadian thanksgiving 5 days post surgery. but at that point i was able to make a turkey Soup so I could kind of participate. You can do it though! it is worth it! -
Torriluv87 I get the hunger/rumbling too.
-
I didn't get anything prescribed when I left. Haven't had any medicine since I was in the hospital. I'll see if I have issues with other foods and then maybe ask for one. I know I was on Prilosec after my band for a good 6 months. I was surprised I didn't get anything.

Pre-Op liquid diet day 1
Travelher replied to BrookeTiffani's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You will get used to it. The first few days is the hardest. Just hang in there! I started multivitamins right away..found that helped with the energy (I use the patches). -
Congrats and good luck

No surgery next week
Travelher replied to pattycaketoo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is very disappointing. Why didn't they accept it? -
my doc has me on full liquids first 3 weeks. I'm so sick of it too. I'm allowed yogurt and Soups etc. today was my first day back at work and I ordered a Soup from a local chinese restaurant (chicken and noodle soup) told them to hold the noodles, hold the chicken lol. just had the broth...it was heaven! so good. Mainly because it was different than what I've been eating at home (home made soups i'm now sick of). i can't wait to have puree's and soft foods next week.

Looking to get band to bypass revision soon
Travelher replied to ShrinkingMeme's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
i had a terrible experience with the band as well. I'm 2 weeks post revision to RNY and and I am mad at myself for not doing this years ago. -
Thoughtful to send a gift. Thoughtless in the gift. If it makes you feel better, my boss was calling me in the hospital asking me to send her information. I had to explain to her that I didn't bring my laptop to the hospital with me. (She is a very nice and caring person) but clearly just not thinking at that moment.

REVISION From band to bypass!
Travelher replied to Missbeauty16's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
No complications here. i had my revision on Oct 4. I still have burping when consuming anything (even water). But I assume that will resolve over time. My surgeon warned me that if there was too much scar tissue he would have to do a sleeve instead (he didn't have to). I'd had my band since 2005 and I was good to go. One thing he told me is that my pouch is bigger than he normally does 55 vs 35 because of the stretching of my stomach that the band did. He said it shouldn't be an issue though, he still thinks I'll have good results. best thing i've ever done and I've found recovery easier with this surgery than the original band. eg I only took painkillers while in the hospital (2 days) and I"m back at work 2 weeks later. I would have been back last week except I caught a cold. -

Vitamin Patches
Travelher replied to newjerseygirl60's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been using the patch MD multi Vitamin patch since my pre-op liquid diet. I have to say I noticed an immediate difference in energy levels. I've now ordered the other Patches I'll need. the nice thing is you can start them right away post op so I'm getting Vitamins immediately after surgery, where my docs' other patients don't get them until they are on Purees on week 3. -

Questions to the ones who Had GASTRIC BYPASS!
Travelher replied to Missbeauty16's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I'm 9 days post op and yes I feel hungry...grumbly stomach whole deal but based on what I've read that is unusual. i suspect some of it may be gas/acid. Gas was the worst in the first 3 days after surgery, but walking helps. I still burp when eating/drinking, but I think that will likely get better with time. My advice for prep would be to try Protein drinks and powder so you find one you like. Have a good variety of Soups for the post op liquids phase and other approved liquids to eat. I have a variety of about 4 soups I've been cycling through and i'm already bored after a week. Warmth helps! post surgery I could not drink anything cold. I'm drinking a lot of warmed crystal light and warm soups and I'm warming my Protein shakes too. -
13 days post op and struggling
Travelher replied to nadinexx's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Have you tried warming your Water? I find I'm having difficulty with anything cold. I don't like tea, so I've been boiling water and adding crystal light and sipping. With cravings not sure what to tell you. im feeling hungry too pretty frequently. I combat the "real food" cravings by replicating a bariatric version. we just had thanksgiving last weekend. I blended some of the foods with bouillon into a thanksgiving Soup so I didn't feel like I was missing out. I"m in full liquids for another 2 weeks so making a variety of Soups to cope with the food boredom at this state. I'd kill for a soft boiled egg right now... -
10 days post feeling fab

Being a trainer doesn't make you an expert on...
Travelher replied to theantichick's topic in Rants & Raves
fantastic that you are now working with a trainer. I would love to but don't have the money for that. I find with all occupations you have good and bad ones. I had a fantastic one about a decade ago when I lived on the west coast. What made him really great was that he was a great listener. He listened to what my needs (weight loss), desires(someone to push and keep me accountable and will keep it interesting and fun) and limitations (ACL reconstruction)were and developed a program that fit those. there was no cookie cutter approach, everything was customized and he switched things up (equipment, exercises and even location and made things fun so it never got boring. He even created a program for me to do while traveling that I needed was a deck of cards...Bottom line is for anyone looking for a trainer, if it isn't working with the one you have, keep looking until you find one you like. -
Late revision surgery question
Travelher replied to Missiecraig32's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I don't think so. Talk to your surgeon. I had revision surgery and it was all done at once. My doctor told me beforehand if the scarring was too much he could do a sleeve or just remove the band and have me come back in 6 months for a bypass (I gather the scarring must break down over time). I did my research and found a surgeon with experience with revisions. Mine had done over 250 revisions and could tell just by looking whether I was good to go. Revision was the best thing I've ever done and I'm mad at myself for waiting so long. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
