Need a sleeve buddy in Plano Texas
Travelher replied to Dknal2's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good luck finding someone. I'll be in Plano on business. I'd help but I imagine you'll be discharged during the day. -
What are you most excited for after WLS?
Travelher replied to Kestrael's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Fitting back into my cute smaller clothes. Have a closet filled with cute dresses that are about 10lbs away and 2 duffel bags of smaller clothes in the basement. -
My dietician acknowledged that it was almost impossible to get all the Protein in the first while post surgery. After surgery I wasn't getting 32 ish oz of fluids in plus my shake. I'm at 7 weeks now and just hitting 64 plus shake. I've been close for a while though. I found warm liquids went down better in the beginning. Good luck

I think that can be a sign of vitamin d and calcium deficiency

I don't know your circumstances, so I can only speak for myself. Yes I could have done it on my own, I had a starting weight of 260 and surgery weight of 244. I was up and walking a lot on night 1 and asked to be checked out the next morning but their protocol was 2 nights. I was dressed and ready to go and walking when the doc came to check me out. I believe it was the walking that helped me. I didn't need pain killers after the first night. I wouldn't have driven for the first few days, but overall felt fine. I cooked dinner for my family 3 days post op and was apple picking on day five. Now I get my results may not be typical. Some of the things I did to prepare was to have all the foods I would need there and in the house, I started my Vitamin Patches before the surgery during the two week pre-op diet and I swear they made a huge difference post op with energy levels etc.

Yep..totally normal. I'm on my 3rd stall since surgery(oct 4) for me they usually last a week, this one is longer. I'm sure it will break at some point. We just need to be patient

I love dr. Matthew Weiner's videos (you can find them on youtube) he has one about "how much weight will i use" he indicates that in the 1st year that is largely determined by genetics...they have identified the "fat gene" if you have it you will lose more slowly and may not get as low as those who don't. (I am also a slow loser). She is probably one of those people who doesn't have the "fat gene". What Dr Weiner says, however, is that at the 3 year mark when people start to have regain, it is the people who are eating a healthy diet that do better or keep it off. so your acquaintance may be fine now...3 years from now, she may be on here talking about how her sleeve stopped working.

Can Anyone Help Regarding Revision Band to Sleeve
Travelher replied to WGH3IWDT's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
It is the surgery fluids, swelling etc. That is pretty normal. You will drop. I eventually dropped. Warning I had a stall at week 3 as well. Revisions don't typically drop as quickly as first timers. I'm at around 7 weeks post op now and down around 26lbs from surgery weight. -
34 is pretty good. Faster than me. My surgery was oct 4 and I've lost 26 lbs since surgery give or take. From what I've read and seen speed in the first year is largely determined by genetics. I'm been religiously doing low carb, water is great and doing 10k plus steps...I'm just a slow loser and always have been. I just have to be patient.

I have failed my band - SUPPORT GROUP
Travelher replied to Tabithan's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I did self pay to get rid of my band and revise to rny. Best thing I ever did. Can't believe I lived like i did for as long as I did. -
I've had a couple of one week stall periods. I'm on my third now. Are you food journaling? I find that helps, just a checkpoint to see if anything is different. Funny enough my last stall broke the day after I upped my calories. I was not great about getting all my snacks in this past weekend, so I'm making sure I'm getting enough calories today. It will break. I'm willing to bet that you have lost some inches while you've been on your stall.

I still measure and weigh..then I don't need to worry about it. When I'm out I eyeball, put the food on my plate in what looks like my normal portion and don't reach for more.

Date is Set! Bye-Bye Bandie.
Travelher replied to Daisalana's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
There are less expensive options if money is an issue. I considered Mexico briefly but settled on Montreal. The whole thing was 23k canadian which is probably 17k Usd. It included removal and revision. I went with the bypass, but I think lots of people end up with the sleeve due to scar tissue. He was able to do it all at once. He indicated that in the case of an erosion, it would have to be 2-stage (probably 2 costs). My band stopped working properly after my pregnancy and eventually stopped holding a fill at all. I used to have to take off my bra to eat. Now I'm wearing underwire again!! Woohoo! -
Are revisions REALLY necessary?
Travelher replied to Babbs's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Hm just saw my third post on this site today re the band revision where the person indicates the band broke after pregnancy. That is when mine stoped functioning properly before it eventually broke. She had it happen twice! 2 bands broke, one after each pregnancy. She is now getting a revision. Wonder if that is a thing? -
Foam on Top of Premier
Travelher replied to BariatricGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I get a lot of foam when I put it in the blender. It is fine to drink...but I wouldn't early on because it just means more gas that has to come out. The foam makes me really burpy -
Liquid to soft food weight-loss comparative
Travelher replied to Jess_eR's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I gained a pound when I switched...stalled for a week and then started dropping again. It was the "3rd week stall" everyone talks about. -
18 days Post Op and not sure if things are normal or not... Help! :)
Travelher replied to Nicky6's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I find I dump if I eat or drink too fast. Even with the Protein shake. When I go slow...no dumping. I will dump if I take even just one big gulp of shake. I'm also religiously following the no Water for a while after meals rule. I don't ever want to dump again. It seems that I dump more easily with liquids because it passes through more quickly. -
Where do you live. I have 4 boxes of optifast I was going to toss.
-
At the beginning warm liquids went down much better. Try warming them up

So, not sure how to handle it when people ask me why?
Travelher replied to hdw85's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I did have someone ask why I'm not drinking wine though...I told them I have acid reflux. Which is also true. -
So, not sure how to handle it when people ask me why?
Travelher replied to hdw85's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I say I am eating low carb...which is true -
I dumped twice this week. Hard to describe...first time upset stomach...bit of nausea, feeling woozy and generally unwell. Second time all of the above plus hot flashes as well...lasted about an hour. Caused by drinking my shake too fast.
