Can't help you with the sugar you'll need to stop that and follow your diet plan, but maybe you need to try a bit more fill, smaller increment than last time. The band worked for me for 4 years and then caused me a lot of issues so I ended up revising to RNY.

Crying on the bathroom floor
Travelher replied to White Sale's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Add me (travelher) on myfitnesspal pal and then go back to October and you'll see my food diaries for the early weeks of my surgery -
So you lost 30 lbs in a 2- week preop? If so you have lost 30 lbs in 6 weeks. Almost exactly what I did in the same period of time, you just lost it quickly up front then stalled. If you are getting you water and protein in and following your plan and not eating crap you'll start to drop again. I actually get nervous if I have a big drop because it always means I'm due for a stall. Dropped 2.5lbs overnight...that has NEVER happened before so now I know I'm going to gain or stall for a bit.

Sugar is a major reason for weight gain. And has zero nutritional value. You need to focus only on foods that nourish your body after wls. That is how I approach food now. Does it provide nutrients or is it filler. If it the latter I'll take a pass. Google is your best friend on the sugar question.

Crying on the bathroom floor
Travelher replied to White Sale's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I stalled at 3 weeks and then about once a month since then...in fact now I get nervous if I have days where I lose a little something everyday because I know that means a stall is imminent. So a little info about stalls and why they happen. -
Yes it is a meal and actually I would wait for a bit to drink after. You probably won't need to wait 30 mins though. He reason I say his is that I dump if I drink my shake too fast. So it goes to say if I drink a shake and the follow it with water it could push the shake in too quickly and trigger a dump.

British Columbia Sleevers

Sigh...I miss Vancouver...good luck with your surgery. It is coming up soon! -
I am now getting comments from people at work every day. What makes it easier for me is I use the treadmill desk everyday at work so I think people are chalking it up to activity etc...lol.. I've had a few people mention my dedication to my fitness.
-
Depends on the person, could be 2-3 days or 2-3 weeks...I didn't even weigh myself for the first week post op because I knew this would be the case. Be prepared for the 3rd week stall too. The weight will come off, hard to do, but relax it will happen

Need Advice for Weight Loss Surgery
Travelher replied to hollyrose062's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Let me start with saying the band is the MOST invasive surgery, not the least because the complication rate is so high (around 50%) that you could require more surgeries...that is my definition of pretty invasive. I can can post a link to a whole host of those studies if you would like, I had to have my band removed and revised to rny. I chose rny because it is the gold standard been around for decades and proven to work. Sleeve hasn't been around for 10 years yet, so after my mistake of using the band when it was still new...wasn't gonna do that again. Also I developed acid reflux from the band and I knew the sleeve could make it worse and rny often cures it. Also I liked the extra insurance with malabsorption...most sleevers don't dump, the majority of rnyers do with the rny. I liked that it was insurance should I make bad food choice. I don't ever plan have another bariatric surgery. Both sleeve and rny require additional Vitamins. I like the Patches..easy to use and don't know they are there. Having said all this the sleeve is getting close to the 10 year mark and looking like a good alternative to rny. It was my backup if the band had done too much damage and an rny couldn't be done. -
Yep. Swelling, iv fluids..it is all water. There are thousands of threads on here about this very topic...

Agree that you need to get a handle on this now, if you don't you aren't ready for surgery. Nobody other than you can sabotage you. My husband and my son still eat chips and popcorn and pizza, dessert etc, but I don't. Is it hard sometimes? Um yeah!!! Was it hard cooking thanksgiving dinner 5 days post op while still on liquids? Totally! Did I want to bop my husband on the head and steal his popcorn when he made a batch of delicious hot buttered popcorn and then proceeded to eat it in front of me? You betcha! So here is what I did/do to cope... Thanksgiving dinner...made a Bari friendly full liquids Soup with chicken bouilllon and some of the thanksgiving sides and turkey. It felt and tasted like thanksgiving dinner With the popcorn, I left the room and had a nice long bath and ranted on here with my iPad. Christmas dinner at my mom's...I cleared and cleaned up while dessert was being served. Other things I do is make Bari friendly versions of what my family are eating. Zucchini noodle Pasta etc. Pinterest is your friend. The other thing you need to do is address your sister head on. When she is engaging in behaviour that is self destructive or feels like sabotage tell her (she can keep her ideas to herself). Separate yourself. Do what you have to do to be successful. Your other option is to do what you always have and stay at your current weight.

I wanna know about carbs... Seriously!
Travelher replied to KindaFamiliar's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
interesting. with my ketostix neutral means I'm not in ketosis.., darker means more ketones in the urine, therefore in ketosis. maybe the scale differs by brand. -
She definitely does sound depressed, unfortunately the depression needs to get treated first. I struggled with it decades ago, once I treated the depression the weight came off on its own.

Only 3 months post oppp and the longest was 2 weeks and I waited it out.

I feel like I'm cheating
Travelher replied to Victoria Bontempi's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I was doing keto(high fat, high protein, low carb) until my dietician said it was too low carb...now I do 30-35% complex carb, 25-30% fat and 40% protein. Rate of loss did not change. -
I use them, doc was fine. First set of labs were good. Second set in april
