Gas pain was my biggest issue. If you can have a heating pad and walk around a bit then you should be fine. I was off pain meds the day I left the hospital. I had surgery on Tuesday and went back to work the following Monday.

I lost a ton of hair the first 6 months. Nothing I used made it better....then magically at 6 months it stopped!

Ehhhh, it all depends on what your preop diet is for. My diet was to lose 7lbs so if I cheated - the only person I would end up cheating was myself. If it's to shrink your liver - just be careful!

I haven't read any responses so I might repeat what others have already mentioned...please go see a therapist! It is so important for your well-being. I feel like the mental battle with food is worse than the smaller stomach. At 3.5 weeks I was still on purees so I'm not sure how you are even tolerating solids yet. My doctor said that for the first 3 months anyone and everyone will lose weight and after that you are on your own because you are eating solid foods. Please see someone so you can get this under control.

I can't do this!
LosinLiz82316 replied to Sweetheart2017's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had that feeling of regret about a week post op. I just didn't think I was strong enough! But guess what, I was and so are you! You will make it and do great. I can't lie - the first 2 months SUCKED. The losing weight was awesome but liquids, to puree, and finally soft foods about killed me. I hated every minute of it but I did it and now that it's all behind me I would do it again in a heartbeat. I'm not being negative at all - I'm more of a realist. The surgery was a breeze - I was off pain killers by the time I left the hospital the next day. It was that silly mind game that food has always played on me! It's important to stick to your doctor's plan because your new tiny tummy has to heal! -
How many times a day to eat?
LosinLiz82316 replied to Berry78's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
My doc recommends eating at least 5 times a day. Normally - I eat 4. I'm just not ever THAT hungry. My first meal is always a smoothie/protein shake. -
Changing personality
LosinLiz82316 replied to truckerswife's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I agree with what the previous poster said. I have people who have said - don't get skinny and become a B. My response was jokingly - you mean more than I already am? I just let it roll off my back. I know I'm not changing! -
Returning to work

@@Charisma - I saw your greek yogurt post. I will say that I can easily eat 5-6oz of yogurt (5 months post-op) but if I eat 3-4oz of chicken I am totally stuffed - like I know my limit stuffed. You will get to that full feeling but for me - yogurt never made me feel FULL. I hope that makes sense. -
Returning to work
LosinLiz82316 replied to vegas_mimi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@vegas_mimi I didn't read the other responses but I had surgery on a Tuesday and was back at work the following Monday. My surgeon doesn't approve for more than 2 weeks out of work. He wants you up and going as soon as you can because he said it helps you heal faster. I didn't have any issues - so I was fine but I do have a desk job. -
Who is doing everything RIGHT?
LosinLiz82316 replied to anonmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I followed all my rules post op but still had trouble getting everything in. I think if you're recovery is smooth and there aren't any issues the BEST thing to do is use a timer to remind you to eat and drink. It helped me tremendously The biggest mistake I see people make is comparing their journey to the next person's journey. We all have this tool but we are all on different journeys. -
ANYONE FEEL LIKE IT WAS A "WASTE"?
LosinLiz82316 replied to TaureanMe's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Honestly, the only advice I have is probably what you've heard before... talk to a nutritionist, measure and track everything and I mean EVERYTHING, and get that Water in!! I'm sure it's frustrating but you've successfully lost 50lbs. That's a large amount of weight! Just don't give up! -
4 mos post op: looking for fresh ideas!
LosinLiz82316 replied to The New Kel's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Cauliflower Fried Rice is a standard in my house (w/shrimp) Honestly - I get most of my ideas from Pinterest. I tend to eat the same thing over and over again. For fruits - I work out first thing in the morning so I like to have a high calorie smoothie which contains fruit, peanut powder, seeds, and Protein powder. I get the sugar out of the way first thing! lol -
Just did some real disrespectful stuff!
LosinLiz82316 replied to Anthony74's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Eek! My doctor told me that he once had a patient leave the HOSPITAL and head to McDonald's for a cheeseburger. Of course, the patient had to have emergency surgery. Just be careful! I know how it feels to eat something and your stomach revolt! It only took once and mine was tuna. Lol - I haven't been a fan of tuna since. -
NOT the easy way out...
LosinLiz82316 replied to bodyslmmn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Lol I have a "friend" at work who likes to say she lost her weight the "real way" and "on her own" and I just gently remind her that I'm in the gym 4x a week for 90 minutes and weigh and measure everything - trust me, I have a tool but I'm most definitely doing it on my own. I don't have anyone doing anything for me. -
How long was your process?
LosinLiz82316 replied to Mandat89's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My process started in September of 2015. I was ready to submit in February 2016 (4 month diet, psych visit, medical records, and all other documentation needed). I did not submit for insurance until June of 2016 - I wasn't ready mentally. Once the doctor submitted I was approved in less than 10 days and had my surgery on August 23, 2016. -

From the album: Progress
This pictures was taken at Walmart 2 days before my surgery. I had just left the surgeon's office and was picking up my pre-op diet supplies. I believe I was 267 here. -
@@Superstoked - my advice is invest in a heating pad. I used a heating pad on my stomach and back. The surgery itself wasn't painful at all for me. It was the gas pain that KILLED me. The heat helped a lot!

How do you handle people asking questions
LosinLiz82316 replied to XmeghannstarX's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Only a handful of people know about my surgery. To those that don't and ask me how I lose weight all I say is I eat a little and work out a lot. I'm not lying - I do eat very little and I do work out a lot. -
I don't "eat" breakfast but I have a Protein latte. I run through the Starbucks drive-thru and order triple espresso over ice in a venti cup and add either a premier vanilla or caramel shake. It's how I start every work day. I'm just not great at eating in the mornings so this routine works for me.

Motivation or lack there of
LosinLiz82316 replied to dominyks_mom's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
This may sound silly but I was tired of the gym - tired of waking up at 4am - tired of prepping everything the night before - just TIRED! So, to make myself feel better I went and bought new tennis shoes and new gym clothes. I like looking cute in the gym and it worked for me. Motivation is different for everyone. I know by me saying "just get up and do it" that won't help - but find something that you look forward to and get it in that way. Do you like group classes? Those are always so much fun especially if you go with friends! Accountability buddies are lifesavers when it comes to gym workouts. -
Making the most out of the first 9 months...
LosinLiz82316 replied to onmyway11's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I had my surgery on 8/23 and had a Disney vacation planned 12/9. I was so scared that I wouldn't be able to eat or drink the way I wanted while I was there. (For us, Disney is about the food and drinks). I ate what I wanted - within reason, and drank the same way. I lost weight on vacation and as soon as I got home I got right back into my habits. It worked for me. I can honestly say that I've only overeaten ONCE and it made me so miserable I've never done it again. -
Here come the haters!
LosinLiz82316 replied to AMJK79's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a small circle of people that know about my surgery. I've received both positive and negative feedback for my decision. The thing I hate hearing the most is "you took the easy way out". No, this surgery is HARD. You are changing your life. I work out 4x a week 90 minutes at a time. I'm so glad I kept the circle I told small. When people ask me how I'm losing weight I just say - eating a little and working out a lot. Lol, it's true! -
