Help! Please!
Butterflywarrior replied to Debbie_downsizing's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Percoset is pretty darn strong for t he average bear. This pain sound s abnormal especially for laproscopy. .I've had open surgery in t h e past and that wasn't even the kinda pain I was in. It sounds like you need to call the surgeon ASAP or even go to t h e er to make sure nothing serious is going on. You maybe one of those few ppl who don't respond to pain meds well. If you have seen your surgeon, than like others have suggested, a abdominal binder can do wonders Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-T807A using the BariatricPal App -

Ketosis and diabetic ketoacidoses
Butterflywarrior posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm kinda confused...I've read a bit about the five a D sometimes ten day fast designed to bring about ketosis but it scares me as a diabetic because it sounds similar to DKA or diabetic ketoacidoses. Is it similar? I'm sure it can't be and I'm not understanding. I have the teams surgical nurse I could call but I don't feel much warmth from her so I feel better asking here!!! -
Glad ur ok and on the menf Mend

African American Sleevers
Butterflywarrior replied to ATLGirl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Oh I'm so happy to see this thread and so many responses and interactions. I'm biracial African American and Asian. I have a surgeon whose partner is African American but I ended up with the other surgeon for experience reasons. I still have the other one to consult with if necessary. There is also a African American nurse in the office that I like to talk to so this helps me. I wear my hair natural but my hair is weird. It's allergic to a lot. I also get keloids. I get sleeved next month on the 24th. I'm in San diego and I'm 39. I have multiple health issues some weight related. Others not. Autoimmune disease, chronic pain disorders.i was supposed to get RNY but surgeon felt it wasn't a good idea due to my preexisting conditions so we settled for the sleeve. I love to eat diverse ethnic foods and moderately spicy wondering if I will be able to continue that?? Anyways thats a bit about me... -

Question about pain pump
Butterflywarrior replied to myounger's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My friend had a pain pump catheter in her leg for her knee replacement and the doctor or nurse removed it latter when it was time. I had a PCA patient controlled anesthesia pain pump once for abdominal surgery and it was part of my IV. It was removed before I left the hospital I do not know if these answers help you much. I'm not sure why you would have a pain pump that goes home with you unless you have special circumstances. I am a chronic pain patient and they told me they didn't think o would need a PCA pump. -
I hope you are seeing a therapist....therapy can really help the root of depression and CBT cognitive behavioral therapy van work even better then meds or with meds have the best efficacy. My hope is that you won't have to stay on abilify or maybe try another one that doesn't cause weight gain because sometimes they don't cause that side effect. I was on abilify before and have been to many dark places you mentioned. I was misdiagnosed with depression for many years but recently found out I have bipolar l. Anyways, exercise helps the mood as well as weight loss so I encourage that but therapy number one and don't give up. Keep a weekly gratitude journal... sounds cheesy I know bit it helps to keep you appreciating life and open to positive possibility

If it's like what o had its the diet class of the five day liquid pre op and what you eat after the stages it's not the same as all the other dietitian visits bc it's more specific to the surgery. Don't know if that's what your going to but that's what my final pre op class is

Who Are You?
Butterflywarrior replied to illgeturhairdid's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi, I'm 39 single, never married biracial black and Thai female with my BA in human development from UCSD university of California. San diego. I focused in sociology, psych and neuroscience. I've spent a lot of time volunteering at various places such as the local children's hospital and arthritis foundation. I've had multiple health issues all if my life including chronic pain since age 5. My weight started at around age 10. I'm facing spinal surgery and need to loose a lot of weight so after a year of deliberations, I finally decided to get the sleeve. I was originally going for roux en y however my surgeon felt medical history is to complex for it. I'm also a published poet and wish to write a book of poetry. I also paint and do some crafts. -
I'm dated for Oct 24th and I feel much like you... excited and nervous all over da place!!!????????

Pre op diet....
Butterflywarrior replied to snugelkin's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think you just need protein powder is the main thing. I have food allergies and diabetic and they told me I could make my own popsicles and home made broth as long as it's not fattening lol -
