Negative Comments Pre-Surgery
Butterflywarrior replied to NJ Mom's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Ppl will always judge . I'm over 300 lbs and ppl have made these kind of comments to me...so go figure -
Btw random weight watchers let's u eat lots of popcorn...lol
-
Popcorn isn't bad for you, it's what u put on it that's bad. Air popped is best and you can microwave popcorn kernels in a folded paper bag for around five minutes without butter and put like lemon pepper or salt alternative on it or something. .. one bag of microwave popcorn isn't going to hurt you prior to surgery since ur on regular food is my humble opinion

BEST protien shake option
Butterflywarrior replied to lemonzinger907's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I like premier protein as well the chocolate is my favorite. I don't like the vanilla personally. The container is closable too so it can be re used it saved I mean and it's good for you with 30 grams of protein 5 carbs and 1 gram of sugar I believe. -

It can be horrible. I have had it so bad up my thoat, into my jaw that I could barely talk the pain, was so bad. Also, 3 times now in while I was sleeping, i was woke up to not being able to breath. The acid was choking me. I quickly shot out of bed and slowly sipped Water. It was a very scary experience. Then there is silent reflux, but that is,a whole other story. Hoping Rny eliminates the gerd. Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App Oh I do know it can be horrific..I was just sharing my mom's side of it

It drives me crazy how many conflicting things we hear from our healthcare ppl and so on

Customs and Border protection
Butterflywarrior replied to Veronika Chavez's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Just make sure u have ur documents I'm place! Answer only what's asked. I hate crossing the border but with a guide you should be fine. I live in San Diego and I rarely go Mexico bc it's so much trouble but when I go, I always go with friends -
. most of the time reflux makes you regurgitate but it can also make u belch and gurgle. My mom has it and she belches and gurgles mostly. Sometimes burning but rarely does she reflux all the way into the throat

Waiting for my date
Butterflywarrior replied to BuffaloBill's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Exercise as much as possible...walk walk walk...eat protein and stay as low carb as possible. I loved south beach diet but of course a fail on the long term. The breakfast fritatas and omelettes are great. You can also try replacing one meal with premiere protein...I only suggest that one bc it has 30grams if protein...it's also what my NUT had me do. -
Yes I read and heard if u have it pre existing ur pretty much doomed to get it after with either surgery. I was supposed to get roux en y originally However I have a ton of medical problems plus on psych meds for bipolar and PTSD. So surgeon said adjustment of psych meds, chronic pain meds and those like me who sometimes need corticosteroids can't get rny bc malabsorption screws it all up with meds so don't know if you fall in any of those categories like me but it's something else to consider

Butterflywarrior replied to spunkyheather's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I understand what ur saying but I think it depends on the protein bar. Some are actually healthy but you have to read carefully just like protein drinks....we can't just choose any one out there.... -

@@hectorlopez323 do ur research..im surprised ar yout surgeon... my understanding is that you can get gerd with either surgery but ur actually less likely to get it with the sleeve because you keep your pyloric valve in the stomach.... trhe surgical nurse at our program said this at the last support group but I have also read it.... omeprozole is prilosec
