BEST protien shake option
Butterflywarrior replied to lemonzinger907's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
what optifast do you use? I don't think my place allows us to use it..not sure why! I just looked it up online and there are multiple optifast options but one tge optifast 800 weight loss shake only has 14 protein. And out place says shakes muat have at least 20 grams if protein so maybe that's why or in looking at tge wrong optifast shake. So many weight loss centers have different requirements.. my place did give us a list and guidelines if we picked our own but it's strict. -

I've seen muscle milk at Costco and it's cheaper then primer ...it is a option on my list but I noticed it said muscle milk light only.... I've heard at Mt support group some people like the taste, others don't! Figures! -
BEST protien shake option

I like premier and my weight clinic has it as a top preference especially for diabetes like me but the nurse told me it often is to sweet tasting after surgery to some so she told me I should get unflavored whey isolate but I haven't done that yet. While I like premier, I'm quickly disliking it day in and day out on the pre. Op. I don't understand why @@LisaMergs nut says it's forbidden thought bc the stats on it are quite stellar 1 gram sugar, 5 Gran's carb 24 cuts and minerals, 30 grams in protein etc..if that's all factual...wow!!! So I'm curious as to what the problem is. -

Oh I was going to add, many natural stores like sprouts in the West coast sells stevia drops in various flavors I'm sure Amazon has them too. You can use them to flavor unflavored gelatin. Tea, coffee and more. Now my problem with stevia is that even though it'd nature made. It has a bit of a bitter aftertaste and I hate this. Ppl swear to me nustevia brand doesn't but I never tried it to see for myself. Anyways this might give you more options pre and post

I'm on pre op and I found Crystal light pure made with truvia which is stevia and that's natural God made sweet plant but tgey mix it with a little sugar alcohol so you may or may not have problems with that. I'm allergic to aspartame or phenkyt whatever lol but I can handle small amounts of splenda/sucralose but not to much so I looked carefully and found alternatives. Still. It IS hard...I'm hungry and my mom cooks good and she us cooking good smelling food for herself so not helpful!! Oh well it's just one week for me!! Good fortune

I've heard that some foods especially easily digestible foods go down easily ...some ppl have a hard time due to swelling if the stomach. Some ppl have less swelling or it goes down faster. When you get to eating more pureees I think you will likely feel the fullness

I've been pretty open despite so many ppl telling me about others who had it and gained all their weight back grrr and related negative stories. It's like really. Do you think that was the thing to share with me?? Lol I figure I rather be open bc they will see me eating different and loosing lots of weight and will ask questions so why not just tell them now but that's me idk. I also hope it will help others to change their lives too -
Hummm maybe not ready for this stage yet??? Sounds like indigestion perhaps but I'm not a doctor.... maybe talk to ur health care team..

if u like chocolate. I recommend the chocolate ones. I really dislike the vanilla ones but some ppl like them so who knows. They also have strawberries cream and some Walmarts carry the banana too..never had that. costco carries only chocolate vanilla and strawberry in cases of 18 but Walmart has little 4 packs -

If you read the I ingredients there is whey there too.. I love the Premier.. But I also use the Syntrax nectar & Matrix.. The Nectar is what my wls keeps in the office to for patients to buy.. They have lots of good flavors.. Munky I could be wrong but my understanding from my nutritionist is that tge whey isolate part only applies to buying a Protein Powder bc it basically means it's Fluid soluble -

If you're looking weight with it, I suppose it's okay to finish it and then find a better product!! I'm surprised ur NUT approved it though...maybe she didn't read it closely enough!! Not ur fault. I understand the financial hardship part all to well. -
Hmmm, I have blue shield ppo here in California and I had to go through six months of mtgs with dietitian kinda thing and also write down all if my previous weight loss attempts but not really in actual medically super vised diet I was approved with out loosing any real weight. Sleeve surgery and stomach drains
Butterflywarrior replied to Butterflywarrior's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It's for getting any excess blood, fluid off the stomach after surgery.... some people have them others don't -
that's soooo uncool.... testing you perhaps?! I would like to think not but why would someone do that especially when they know you been through surgery and talked to them about the diet phases.. that's odd...it's not like he bought dinner for everyone and forgot hmmmn suspicious

Can you ask for anti nausea meds? I say this only bc being thirsty is a sign of dehydration and that's really bad post surgery for si much so I'm concerned your not getting enough fluids unless you're tollerating popsicles and SF drink replacements for now I've heard some ppl find Water very nauseating and say it's better super cold or slightly infused perhaps?? It's also likely this will be temporary...

I don't understand why your not sipping water?? Is there a reason your not at this point??
