Nothing tastes or sounds appetizing
QueenOfTheTamazons replied to CaSteph's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have you tried dairy? Oikos yougurt, soft cheeses, fairlife milk, or super soft eggs? I like to do a 1 part fairlife to 3 parts liquid eggs with one laughing cow wedge. It makes super soft eggs that dont weep liquid. A four ounce serving ends up at 100cals and 14g Protein. ETA - The eggs sounded better than the yogurt I had grabbed so i put it back and made myself some. HW 385 SW 359 CW 340 Sleeved 10/5/16 -

Cake or no cake? Cake substitution?
QueenOfTheTamazons replied to Boudala's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
These are accutally very good. You can buy them only for $10 or so for a box of 7. We used WonderSlim products when we were doing a medifast style diet but cheaper. I still have an entire cupboard filled with wonderslim products. The hot chocolate plus instant coffee makes a decent high protein mocha. HW 385 SW 359 CW 340 Sleeved 10/5/16 -
Does anyone else plan and celebrate mini goals?
QueenOfTheTamazons replied to QueenOfTheTamazons's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Differently? Was that an autocorrect or do you have some cool way of celebrating that you should share with the class? What kind of mini goals do you guys have for yourselves? How do you celebrate/reward yourself? HW 385 SW 359 CW 340 Sleeved 10/5/16 -
1 week weigh in post op
QueenOfTheTamazons replied to mzvanessa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
After speaking with my bariatric nurse, i jumped my cals from 600-700 to 800-950 and my protein from 60's to 70's. Since then i have been losing 1+ lbs a day rather than the 0.4 -0.6 previously. HW 385 SW 359 CW 340 Sleeved 10/5/16 -
1 week weigh in post op
QueenOfTheTamazons replied to mzvanessa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you sure you are getting enough calories? My hospital provides access to a bariatric nurse for the first 2 years after surgery. Mine checked in on me on tuesday and i told her i was getting in between 600 and 700 cals and 60g protein. She said that less than 800 is considered starvation, so she wanted me to hit 800-900. She also said 70g protein min and when i started working out to do 80-100g protein. I am taller than you and 100lbs more, so this may be tailored to my numbers but you should ask your dr or nut. I gained 10lbs in the hospital. I lost all of it plus 8 more the first week. But a lot of people dont. Its really depends on how your body reacts to being violated. HW 385 SW 359 CW 344 Sleeved 10/5/16 -

Feet falling asleep while on the toilet
QueenOfTheTamazons posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know that having your feet "fall asleep/pins and needles" while sitting on the toilet is a fairly common side effect of being overweight/obese. Has anyone had increased instances of pins and needles since having the sleeve and losing weight? I get them practically every time I spend more than 5 min on the toilet and I rarely used to get them in the past. Im 42lbs lighter, so I dont understand why its getting worse. Feet falling asleep while on the toilet
QueenOfTheTamazons replied to QueenOfTheTamazons's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's a shame because they are very helpful with constipation. Bought 2 of them myself. Hell, I'd bring it to work if I didn't think the savages in my office would piss all over it. I snorted at "savages". Sounds about right at my job too. I think part of the rejection was due to size of bathroom and proximety of toilet to wall making the squatty potty a hinderence. The ither size is man tummy. Has anyone else seen a change in their "schedule"? I was a 7am or 9am-er and now I am a 1-2pmer. HW 385 SW 359 CW 344 Sleeved 10/5/16 -
Sleep apnea as co-morbidity
QueenOfTheTamazons replied to teedsg's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I think you would need a sleep study in order to count it as a comorbidity. Otherwise everyone would use it because it cant really be proved without a study. Snoring doesnt always mean sleep apnea. HW 385 SW 359 CW 344 Sleeved 10/5/16 -

QueenOfTheTamazons replied to QueenOfTheTamazons's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I bought the squatty potty along with poopourri and other items as part of a toilet themed birthday gag gift for my husband last year. He wasnt exactly thrilled while i cackled to myself. We returned it because he refused to use it. HW 385 SW 359 CW 344 Sleeved 10/5/16 -
Harder than I thought
QueenOfTheTamazons replied to Clarevoyant's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I, too, have had problems with things not tasting good anymore. Ive had trouble with most of the fake sweetener and cant get down pure Water yet. I always have to have ice tea, Powerade, diluted juice. Most of the crystal lights i used to enjoy taste blech to me. As far as the foods, have you tried experimenting? Have you found something you kinda like and swapped out ingredients to find a better balance/flavor? I have a hard time with most of the shakes but GENEPRO doesnt bug me for the most part and i really enjoy the muscle milk coffee house. HW 385 SW 359 CW 344 Sleeved 10/5/16 -
$300 fee is nothing. Drs do have costs associated with submitting your case to insurance company. People like me, who required 3 full submissions and 2 peer to peer appointments cost more than easier patients/insurance companies so the fees balance out. My first surgeon had a $2500 "lifestyle management fee" that had to be paid in advance of the surgery being scheduled. And that was on top of all the other costs that insurance was covering 100%. Supposedly that was to cover support groups/classes and the doctor coming out to visit you in cases of extreme need, but considering we lived 50 miles away and the support programs were all during business hours we would never have used any. Plus, if we coukd afford $5000 we wouldnt be on medical. The surgeon also refused to work with us on the fee. The surgeon who did my sleeve (and who i recommend if in CA) is Dr. Richard Nguyen of Lifetime Surgical. He charges $300 and i didnt find out until after I paid it that that fee also includes the bariatric diet food for the 2 weeks preop. That makes the portion that goes to them more like $150-200. I find that very reasonable for all they did. HW 385 SW 359 CW 344 Sleeved 10/5/16

Peer to peers can be helpful. The furst p2p my surgeon did helped us find out specifically why the ins was denying me. They were saying that i hadnt cometed the 6 months medically supervised diet, which i had. During the P2P, we found out that the lack of notes in my chart regarding exercise as part of my diet plan was what they were denying me for. The second one was the push needed to get approved (once i provided the info needed from the first denial). HW 385 SW 359 CW 344 Sleeved 10/5/16

Has anyone tried the baked parm zucchini "fries"?
QueenOfTheTamazons posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I used to love fried zucchini with ranch. I thought the parm zucchini fries with a greek yogurt ranch would be a diet friendly way to get similar flavors. Anyone try the parm fries? How did they come out? Flavor and in apperance/texture. HW 385 SW 359 Sleeved 10/5/16 -
Heightened smells and gag reflex
QueenOfTheTamazons replied to sarahblu's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have always had what we jokingly call "pregnancy nose" but it has gotten kinda worse since the surgery. Things that didnt bug me before get me know. For example, my husband got a "new york dog" from sonics and the onions and kraut were making me nausious. It smelled like rancid armpits. HW 385 SW 359 Sleeved 10/5/16 -
Whats the weirdest food related dream?
QueenOfTheTamazons posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Whats the weirdest food related dream since getting sleeved? Since a big portion of our new weightloss struggle is dealing with head hunger, I figure Im not the only one to get food dreams. My dream yesterday was the weirdest so far. I was with a coworker (whom i recognised as a real life employee at the company i work for but that i do not interact with). We are driving to my new property in the boonies of some small town. When we get there the house, which looks like a more run down version of the AHS 6 house, is locked and i apparently dont have keys. The rest of the crew (and my husband too i guess) are a couple of hours behind us. We decide to drive up this crazy hilly road that dissapears behind the house. It takes us to a ramshackle resturant were we decide to get some food. Coworker and I both order sandwiches. Mine is some sort of chicken sandwhich, slightly smaller than a 6" from Subway. About 2/3rds of the way throu it I decide that I want another sandwhich, i am still hungry. I walk up to the counter and start looking at the menu. For some reason the menu is hard to read/understand. The names and descriptions dont really make sense, so i cant decide what i want. I am hemming and hawwing, asking whats good from several people but get no sololid answer. I let a few people cut in front of me and they get food fast. After about 25 min of this indecision, i go to the bathroom. When i come out, some sort of buffet has been set up in the middle with different plates of food on plastic tables. I ask the cook how much is the buffet and she takes a lookat what is out there (spiral ham dinner, pizza, chicken wings, potato skins) and quotes me $11. I pay her, smirking to myself, thinking i got a good deal because i didnt pay for the chicken sandwhich. I grab a plate and turn around and the "buffet" is decimated. There are just a few slices of cold pizza left, a few rubbery looking chicken wings, and half eaten eaten potato skin. I am confused by how fast the food dissapeared but i dig thru the pizza boxes for a few slices and grab a couple of wings. I return to the table where my coworker, who has long finished his meal, stares at me with glazed over eyes, telegraphing boredom and contempt. I realize, looking down at my partially finishing sandwhich and cold pizza, that its been an hour since i got up to get more food. And then I wake up. HW 385 SW 359 Sleeved 10/5/16
