Is peanut butter a good source?
QueenOfTheTamazons replied to iam_yamii's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would use PB2 instead. 180 cals of PB2 is 20g Protein, rather than 12g. HW 385 SW 359 CW 335 (50lbs down!) Sleeved 10/5/16 -
Homemade Shakes vs Store bought?
QueenOfTheTamazons replied to MelancholyRoar's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I make my own with fairlife milk (choco and plain), GENEPRO, and PB2. I might try swapping the chocolate for plain and adding a couple of slices of frozen banana. HW 385 SW 359 CW 335 (50lbs down!) Sleeved 10/5/16 -
I wish i had a tub that I could soak in. Mine is tiny witha ridiculously low overflow drain. I pretty much can cover my butt cheeks and nothing else. HW 385 SW 359 CW 335 (50lbs down!) Sleeved 10/5/16 My tub is also tiny, which the surgery should help with, but currently it's not super relaxing. I did find a solution to the low overflow thingy, though. I found on amazon a little plastic cover that goes over the overflow thing and it allows you to put more Water in without it getting sucked down the overflow. Additionally, I looked for bath bombs made for the shower on etsy. They fizz and steam and have aromatherapy properties (I bought one for relaxation, one for energizing you when you have a cold, and one for headaches). Definitely worth a look! Sent From BariatricPal App I am going to make some DIY bombs and but the fake rings out of the 50cent vending machines. Give them out as xmas presents. Make some homemade candles and make labels that say "Jankee Candle". Lol HW 385 SW 359 CW 335 (50lbs down!) Sleeved 10/5/16

Has anybody tried adding Fiber to their food/shakes? I am 5 weeks post op, approved for all foods, but dont really have room for high fiber foods after getting the Protein in. I would prefer a premptive approach rather than a reactive one as I am worried about treatments "kicking in" during inopertune times like meetings, driving etc. HW 385 SW 359 CW 335 (50lbs down!) Once was judgmental...
QueenOfTheTamazons replied to Malin's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My great aunt is a diabetic nurse. She had gastric bypass 30 years ago. She ended up with every known side effect and major issues that included having medically procribed liquid diet fed directly into her stomach thru a port in her side.... but she still recommends the surgery. She lost almost all of ber excess weight and kept more than 60% of the weight off over these 3 decades and aknowledges that she is a "one off" and most people dont have the same issues. Liquid diet not so bad!
QueenOfTheTamazons replied to genn's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I aint gonna lie. The preop liquid diet sucked. I cheated a couple of times with Protein. The post op one is easier since you dont have the hunger. BUT... its only a month of your life (typically) so you can make it thru... HW 385 SW 359 CW 335 (50lbs down!) Sleeved 10/5/16 -

Today's lunch
QueenOfTheTamazons replied to QueenOfTheTamazons's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
One of my favorite meals is something we jokingly refer to as "bad jew food". Its lox and bagels (a Kosher deli food) with bacon (def not kosher) and avocado. Some family members add sliced onion and tomato. I really wanted to participate in this family meal and found a way to do so. Lenders mini bagels. 1 bagel has only 65 cals and 13 carbs. This one has 0.5 oz cream cheese, 0.5 oz bacon and 0.5oz lox and totally filled me up and satisfied my craving. One mini instead of two full sized bagels, which is what I would normally have eaten. Today's lunch
QueenOfTheTamazons replied to QueenOfTheTamazons's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It was a "Mothers recipe" butter paneer spice pack that I crockpotted 4 chicken thighs. It was a bit too spicy for me so i added 1 cup of fairlife milk and cooked it down a bit as it was thin. At the end added 7 oz of paneer. This made at least 28 oz. I had 4oz for dinner. Usually I would have had rice, naan and 3 or 4 times as much meat. HW 385 SW 359 CW 335 (50lbs down!) How did WLS effect your marriage...
QueenOfTheTamazons replied to BayougirlMrsS's topic in Rants & Raves
Im only 5 weeks post op and married for one year (thou we have lived together for 7). I dont think that WLS will change us too much. We are both doing the surgery and we both have been big since we met, though this is the biggest. There may be some male attention jealously as I have been told I am pretty (while fat) and that "when your skinny you will have cheekbones for days". Ask me again in a year though. This is me (with full makeup) at 375. HW 385 SW 359 CW 335 (50lbs down!) Sleeved 10/5/16 -
My husband doesn't know my weight...at all
QueenOfTheTamazons replied to creatingthenewme's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I dont understand why you wouldn't tell your husband your weight. He's the person you chose to spend your life with. This seems like a very silly secret in the grand scheme of things. I tell my husband every time I hit a mini goal, or when I finally get to and lose 1.5lbs. He's not as appreciative of the latter, but still celebrates with me. I think you're missing out on a chance to embrace the process, his love for you and his admiration at your accomplishments. Maybe its different for us because we are both big and met thru a weight loss program. HW 385 SW 359 CW 335 (50lbs down!) Sleeved 10/5/16 -

Does anyone else plan and celebrate mini goals?
QueenOfTheTamazons posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I like to Celebrate the small accomplishments when trying to lose weight. My final goal is 200lbs gone, so its a big number and will take quite a while. These mini goals help keep me on target and feel like I accomplished something. Mine are all percentages of excess weight and starting weight. Mini goals 10% of starting weight 38.5lbs - 10/21/16 20% of excess weight 40lbs - 10/22/16 45lbs lost by 1st annivery - 10/30/16 (1 day early and 339.6!) 20% of excess weight 50lbs - soon!
