SydneyLouWho started following Are you happy with the site of your port? Do you wish it was in a different location?, 4 Days Post Op - Help!! Port lump and pain!, Celebrate! and and 7 others

I just turned 50 too. I had my lapband surgery on May27th. Turning 50 was the reason that I did this surgery. I didn't want to go through another decade fat, unhealthy, and with no energy. I have lost 55 pounds since February. I already feel a lot better. I still have 100 pounds to go, but I am so glad I did this! Congratulations to you and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

4 Days Post Op - Help!! Port lump and pain!
SydneyLouWho replied to krissyjean's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh my gosh! That is exactly what I feel like too! Like I am a turkey and I am done. My port sticks out too. It was painful a lot at first. It is getting so much better. It also felt like when I was pregnant and my son's foot was stuck under my ribs for five months. I was praying that I wouldn't feel pregnant for the rest of my life. It is getting better. The doc said that after I loose my weight that if necessary he can switch it to a low profile port in a quick procedure. Good luck. -
Yes, I can feel my port. It is a hard lump right now. It reminds me of when I was pregnant and could feel my son's foot kicking me. That is the spot that hurts the most. I also have a very full feeling where the band is. My "lapband" friend says that is normal and I will feel that very full feeling for about 7-10 days. My surgery was May 27th. Yesterday I drove an hour away to a wedding shower. It felt great to get away. By the time I got home I was exhausted and took a pain pill. Later all.

I am on day 3 after surgery. I feel the same way that you do. I am afraid to eat. But, I have started eating full liquids. I love the Campbells Velvety Potato soup. It took the whole day to eat it, but it felt great going down. I have a very full feeling at the top of my stomach. I don't know if it is because of the lapband, or just sugery pain. It hurts a little when I breathe. Good luck to you.

Not suitable for LAP Banding? :(
SydneyLouWho replied to gg2007BandSTAR's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My surgery was Tuesday. I came home yesterday. I think I am going to live. I have not had a lot of pain. Or, the pain meds are taking care of what pain I do have. I haven't been hungry at all. I do still have the worst sore throat of my life. I am very glad that it is over. Now the fun begins. To answer your question, it took me about 15 weeks to lose the 48 lbs. I am sure getting the 48 lbs off made the surgery a lot safer. Good luck to you! -
Not suitable for LAP Banding? :(
SydneyLouWho replied to gg2007BandSTAR's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My first meeting with my surgeon was in February. My BMI was 58 and my weight was 358. He won't do the LapBand if you are over a BMI of 50. I was really pissed at first that I was "too fat for WLS". I buckled down and have now lost 48 lbs. My BMI is 49.9. My surgery is TODAY. I am up in the middle of the night because I can't sleep. I am very nervous, but very excited. I think that brick walls are there to see how badly you really want something. Good luck with your search. -
1st day on Pre-Op & I already cheated.

Now I'm hungry for sushi. I LOVE sushi!!! Good luck to you too! -
This is my first day on my 2 week liquid only pre-op and I have already cheated. I went out to eat and had a veggie plate. I can't imagine that hurting me, but they told me over and over again, "liquids only". I was just sooooo hungry. This is going to be a very long two weeks. I know that it is supposed to get better in a few days.... but I am hungry NOW. I want food! You should all be very glad that you don't live with me. I have been very grouchy today. I plan on being even grouchier tomorrow. Friday is my birthday. I will be a bear by then. Oh, well. I was the one who made me this size in the first place. I will just try to keep myself busy. I would love to fly to Vegas and just sit in front of the slot machines for two weeks. Later.

Less Than 24 hours Post Op (My Lap Band Surgery)
SydneyLouWho replied to NicoleW8ing's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You don't even have anything covering your incisions. Are you able to take a shower already? I thought that you would have those butterfly bandaids for a few days. I also like the site of your port. Not too high or too low. You look great! Thank you for sharing! -
My surgery isn't until the end of this month, but they made me give up all caffeine and carbonated drinks weeks ago. Caffeine stimulates your appetite and carbonated drinks fill the pouch up with gas too much. You can't drink 30 min. before you eat and you can't drink until 1 hour after you eat. I think that will be my biggest problem. But, if you drink with your food it will wash it down and through the pouch too quickly and you won't feel as full. Good luck to you!

My Fellow May Flowers.... HELP!!!
SydneyLouWho replied to angelsoul's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You have to have someone go to the drugstore and get you a neti pot. They are wonderful! It is like a little teapot that you put salt/warm water in and pour into one nostril and the solution goes through your entire sinus cavity and out your other nostril. It really keeps the crap out of your head. It has REALLY helped me. Good Luck! -
My surgery is May 27th. I started in January with a BMI of 60. I have it down to 52. My surgeon will not do lapbands if your BMI is over 50. So, I still have 14 pounds to lose in 20 days. Anyone in the 50 or 50+ zone and want to keep tabs on each other??? It would be very nice to have others to talk with that are in the same situations. It is going to be such a long road. But, I am really looking forward to it!
