Please tell me how much you lost on your 2 week pre-op liquid diet.
SydneyLouWho posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Please tell me how much you lost on your 2 week pre-op liquid diet. I am wondering what to expect. Thank you for your input. -
Dr. McEwen asked me what was the weight that I remember feeling good at. For me it was 170. My surgery will be the end of May. I agree with you Becca... It sounds like the LapBand is getting better results that they advertise. It is probley because the lawyers make them under estimate, or, they just don't have enough long term results yet. I can't wait to be banded. I can't wait to not be hungry all of the time. I can't wait to be just "overweight" and not morbid. Have a great weekend!

Can your new pouch hold an entire protein shake?
SydneyLouWho posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am still pre-op, but when I make my protein shakes mixed with ice, it is really a large amount. Will my new pouch hold an entire protein shake? -
My first negative reaction
SydneyLouWho replied to moonshadow2468's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is exactly why no one but my husband knows my plan to have the LapBand. The only one I have to face with every decision I make in life is the Lord. Have a GREAT week! The first week of the rest of your life! -
I just had my wonderful Easter dinner. A choc. protein shake and boiled veggies. Yum Yum. I really am doing ok. I don't feel like I missed anything. It is just sooooo different than any other Easter dinner I have ever had in my 49 years. I hope everyone pre-op had a wonderful day not concentrating on food for once.

Help w/ protien powders ??
SydneyLouWho replied to kitcatnap's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I like the chocolate powder ones the best. And, if you add in about 1 t. of Cocoa powder and a few packs of artificial sweetner, and a lot of ice... they really aren't too bad. The cocoa powder only adds 10 calories. My favorite is "New Direction". I also like the "Unjury" and the "EAS" powder. I wrote the same message a few weeks ago asking for help. -
Help - Surgeon says I need Gastric
SydneyLouWho replied to Hope4Joy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I need to lose 175 pounds. There is no way I would have anything but the LapBand. At the seminar that I went to there were three women there that have had the LapBand for about one year. Two of them have lost 166-185 lbs. The other one just had the LapBand for 5 months and had lost 70 lbs. I am guessing that the doctor that you talked to did both the LapBand AND the Gastric ByPass. He will make a lot more money from the Gastric ByPass. Plus, insurance is much more likely to pay for the ByPass than LapBand. LapBand is much safer. I will be a self pay. Insurance would pay for the ByPass. I would think nothing of financing a new car for $15,000.00. So why not for my health and my future. Find another surgeon. Good Luck to you. -
Can you name 1, or 2 things you would love to do once you reach your goal?
SydneyLouWho replied to mstrina27's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I want to travel w/o having to use a seat belt extender. I want to hear people say something other than, "She has such a pretty face". I want to make my mom and dad feel proud and peaceful knowing that I am healthy before they leave this earth. I want to run around with my grandkids and not just sit and watch them play. I want to be able to use a little overnight bag instread of a large suitcase because my clothes are sooooo big that they take up so much room... (along with the CPap machine that I have to travel with). Oppps. You said 1 or 2 things. Sorry. I just can't wait to start living. -
My initial consult is today
SydneyLouWho replied to CarolAnne's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
CarolAnne: How was your initial consult appt? Are you excited? Or depressed? I was depressed after my first consult because I found out that with a BMI or 58 they wanted me to lose 48 lbs before they will do surgery. I am over being pissed and am working on it. Maybe have surgery in May. -

How many has he done? How long has he done this? How many has he had to remove? Why? (slippage)What the cost includes? What pre-op test/labs he requires? What brand of band does he use and what size band does he use? What kind of after support does he offer? (groups or meetings) Just a few thoughts. Good luck and congrats! -
Please help me find a shake that tastes good.
SydneyLouWho replied to SydneyLouWho's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you all for your input, help and suggestions! I really appreciate it. I have now put a small fortune into different shakes to try. I will do this! I can do this! I have to do this! -
How To Hide Lap Band From Work
SydneyLouWho replied to dpj00024's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery isn't for about another 6 weeks. But, I have already started my hoax with people. Esophogus problems run in my family. Food gets stuck and you have to eat very slow and very small pieces. My brother would get up from the table and throw up and come back to finish eating until he had his esophogus stretch (yuck). Family and friends think that I am developing this problem too. That explains why I am either not eating, or eating small bites and very slowly. I just don't want to share this with anyone but my husband. -
Unfinished Lap Band Surgery?
SydneyLouWho replied to pandagirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is my worry for me too. I have to lose 40 more pounds before they will give me a surgery date. I am VERY apple shaped. I am affraid the tools won't be long enough to get through my fat. My BMI is currently 56. They won't do surgery until it is 50. I would like to know what brands of liquid shakes people are using that they like. I had an Atkins today and I thought I would throw it up. It was terrible. There is no way I could drink 5 of them a day for 2 weeks. Good luck to you. One day at a time. -
I just can't get started on the pre-op liquid diet. I keep cheating by noon.

Thank you! I went out today and bought the metamusil caps and the Chromium Picolinate. I hope that helps. I am sooooo hungry right now. I meet with the nutritionist tomorrow. I appreciate all responses and ideas! I really feel like I am not alone in this. -
My BMI is 57. My doctor won't do the lapbaband until my BMI is 50. I am so depressed. If I could get rid of 40 pounds I wouldn't need the lapband to help. Everyday I start out with a shake. By mid-morning I am starved. This just stinks.
