    Can I eat/drink?

Okay, so protein shake would be okay? Even 2 days out of surgery? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Probably a better idea than a milkshake. I just sent my hubby on a protein shake run! Lol Hopefully it'll make the inner hungry ease a little. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Go away head hunger?

I would love to do something different. But seeing as I had surgery 3 days ago. Walking still hurts. I love to color and use to do it a lot, but I have carpal so I have to take it easy. Tv I can handle until they start eating. I have a kindle, maybe I can find me a new book or something to read. I just sent my hubby to the store to get some special k Protein shakes! So I am gonna try a little sip of one of those. Just something different I guess. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  6. I was sleeve on 9/22. I am right there with you. I tell everyone I feel like I have been ran over by a train. I am scared to take my pills by mouth. I took my antidepressant at the hospital yesterday evening. I normally take 2.... Not sure if any of you have to take one, but withdrawal symptoms from my cymbalta is almost as bad as surgery. I haven't taken any pain medicine because I'm scared to take it by mouth It hurts. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  7. I was starving to death. I have been starving all week and nothing was just making me feel full. It was horrible. So I cheated. I now feel so guilty, and when I logged in and seen how many calories and carbs were in what I ate I feel even worse! I had chicken tenders and fries.... I have surgery Thursday and some days I feel like I am not strong enough and I am scared. I hate that food controls my life like this. Am I the only one who has cheated? The GI test the day after your sleeves?

I didn't have a pre op test where I had to drink anything. This is just to make sure everything is working correctly. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Cheated on Pre Op Diet

In 2008 I had my gallbladder removed, I learned the hard way by not moving and not getting up and walking.... The best thing you can do. AS soon as you can get out of bed is walk around. Literally I was still half asleep from the anesthesia and made my husband pretty much hold me up so I could walk. Lol Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Thank you! I am okay. Haven't sleep well due to the steroid shot they gave me... And I'm sore this morning.... but I've been up walking around and pottying every 5 minutes. I have to take the GI test in a few. I hope it's not too bad. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Cheated on Pre Op Diet

OP- you are not the only one who has cheated and so while not trying to beat you up- you rightfully should be concerned that you may not ready. This isn't to say that perfection is required but it is to say that there are countless people who have this surgery without being equipped with the tools to handle challenges. If a week or two pre-op diet can't be adhered to, what about a lifelong requirement to measure your food, eat Protein first, etc. You may or may not be ready but if you have doubts, then please resolve them before doing something irreversible.Well the thing is, now I am starving. After surgery it will be different. Also, after surgery I was told to have a "treat" every few weeks. For instance, Pasta, etc. things will be different after surgery than they are now. Right now I have a huge stomach and I am use to eating a lot.Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Sigh. They just reduce the size of your stomach. It doesn't reduce your desire to eat crap still. It isn't magic. You still have to actually use a little will power to make it work. You have to exercise and change the way you eat forever. Not just eat, but change the way you even FEEL about eating in general. Yes, there will be times you're even hungry. If you use food comfort now and can't delay gratification, will you have the tools to deal with that post op? Please take all that into consideration and don't just assume surgery will magically change all your bad habits with food. People figure out ways to eat around these surgeries. Otherwise we wouldn't have a 42% rate of regain. As long as you completely understand that, you'll be fine. Okay. I am aware of what the surgery does, as I have been planning this surgery for a year. I will do what is right for me. I am willing to change and I want to change.... but I mean, you can't just stop wanting something because the doctor says so. If you were addicted to drugs and were told to just stop, could you? No.... it takes time, it takes support and I'm aware of this... but your "sighing" and pretty much telling me that since I cheated and ate chicken fingers and fries for dinner one night that I am not mentally capable of having a surgery is not why I am here. I am here for support. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I had a huge burger 4 days before surgery and a steak 2 days before it. You're exactly right that the surgery will help..you will finally feel full!! Don't listen to these naysayers. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G925A using the BariatricPal App Thank you!!! I am on my way to have surgery this second! I am a nervous wreck. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  21. Y'all, I am having surgery on 9/22. I cheated on my pre op and had chicken tenders and fries. I feel guilty and I don't know. I can tell I have changed and I am working on changing my eating habits. It's just going to take a while to get use to. Of course, the feeling of never being full right now is really bothering me. I don't feel satisfied or full. I am scared of surgery. Really I am nervous and scared of throwing up after surgery. I am worried about the pain, and the gas. My surgery is in two days!!!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  22. I have surgery on 9/22.... two days away. I would love to have a mentor to help me through, to help guide me in the right direction. I am also struggling with what to eat and what not eat, mainly how to be healthy. If someone who has already had their surgery would be interested in mentoring and being my buddy, I would really appreciate it. My name is Taylor Greene, I am from Alabama. Message me, I will be more than happy to share my number. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  23. I'm sure it will get easier with time. I have surgery in two days. I am scared and nervous. I have anxiety on a daily basis. My biggest thing is learning what to eat and what not to eat. I am still a little confused. I thought I knew until I started my pre op diet, but I don't. So that's what the next two days are going to consist of. I really hope it gets better for you! Have you talked to your doctor? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Thanks. I have - my surgeon seems to be really, really strict. My liquid phase is 10 days, others seem to be 5 or 7. He was also strict about meds in the hospital. (Lack of, that is). I asked for applesauce to be permitted to help swallow meds - waiting to hear, but also thinking a half cup of SF applesauce can't cause harm? Good luck with your surgery - from what I can tell it's the 15 pills a day I take causing most of my issues so I'm sure you'll be great! Oh goodness. Yeah I only take 3 pills a day. So hopefully it will be okay. I am ready to get it over with, and ready to get into the recovery stages. Like right now, I feel like I could eat a mountain of something.... I don't want to be this hungry anymore. I hate it. I also have a 4 year old. So when we are eating and he wants something that I can't have. I can't tell him no because I can't have it. So that's making it pretty hard as well... but I will just have to learn to live with it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
