Does anyone know if blue shield let's you go online to see updates on your submission for surgery? I've been hearing that they have 5 days to make a decision but don't know if that's true, and how ever long it takes to approve or deny I would like to just check online instead of calling everyday. Had my last appointment today and was cleared for surgery. Everything will be submitted to insurance tomorrow. I have Blue Shield of CA and hopefully they approve me. I have went above and beyond and done more appointments then I had to. Hopefully it all works out (:

I do the same thing every month, and today I have a weigh in. But as soon as I am done with it I go back down and sometimes even more. I get discouraged too but my doctor told me it's just natural and it will go away. You're doing a great job. Just take a step back from the scale until its over (:

I have been to 2 weight loss clinics and decided on 1. They were horrible and I finished all of my requirements but I just couldn't deal with the way myself and others were treated so I switched to a different place and I love it. My problem is that the new place I am going through is stating that my insurance requires medically supervised diet which I thought I went to with a registered dietitian at the old place and even some with my pcp. I'm going crazy over this because I have all my other requirements completed. When I spoke with blue shield they have told me that it could be with a registered dietitian and it will still count. I've asked them to submit to insurance anyways after we get everything. But she's pretty adamant I will get denied. Has anyone been through this? Thank you both, I got it figured out with my insurance because the new place I went to said that it had to be with my PCP or nurse practitioner. But Blue Shield sent them 2 things clarifying that I could use a registered dietitian. (:

Sorry you feel that way, I know especially with typing there is no way to take how someone is talking to you. Don't take it personal and you should stay.

My job is not very understanding or lenient when it comes to going to my appointments. I have basically exhausted time off and being able to go. I have completed everything that is needed of me but since I switched clinics my new surgeon wants me to see his psych and then I will be done. I have already been cleared with the one that I have saw but they want me to see theirs. I am truly at a lost of what to do because a month ago I told them that I had an appointment on the 19th and it would be my last appointment and they are refusing to give me that time off. I am in jeopardy of losing my job and I just don't know what to do. Please give me some insight and recommendations. Thank you.

I get so scared asking questions, yes I use the search bar and some of the times the question was asked in 2013 or so. I don't want to step on anyone's toes or upset anyone. But what questions are us newbies allowed to ask? I know we could probably get annoying but it's a lot of excitement. Anyways, just thought I should ask because I know this a forum to ask questions and for the support that most people don't get outside of this group, but it feels like the newbies are not welcomed. No she is not the one that submits and I did not think of it the way that you are saying it. I did in fact tell her that I met all of my requirements but she said that is is required by my surgeon. My fiancé thinks they just want to get more money. Just like I have already completed all my NUT visits they have me going to 2 more with them. My last one is on Wednesday. I want to fight but will I really win because they know they have something that I want. I really don't want to go, I rather be at work and not having to go to unnecessary appointments. What should I do?

I have been on this Journey since February so I understand the frustration but its a great time to learn and get prepared (:

Unfortunately I cant because I've only been here for 6 months. But my job did approve my time off to go. So I am very happy about that.

I called them yesterday and the lady was very snotty, she said that this is the requirements by the insurance. I told her that I already completed them and that the surgeon wants me to see their psych for some unknown reason. She said well its his requirement so you have to do it. I have 9 diet visits when insurance only wanted me to do 6, I have met all other requirements and don't feel I need to go through this. But my job told me this morning they approved me to go, so I have another diet visit next Wednesday as well as meeting with the psych. Hopefully after this it will all be done. But I did stand firm and she still shot me down lol Also she said if you want to wait to have your surgery until next year that is always a plan too. I most certainly will not be waiting until next year. Thanks for your advice (:

I honestly don't look for anyone to support me. It's my journey not theirs, I know it's probably hard because people do want support. Don't get frustrated because people don't understand you. Live your life and just think of all the new things to come. (: I have only told my mom, dad, fiancé, and one friend and that's it. My fiancé's aunt knows and she tried to talk me out of it and then went on this big long rant, but guess what? I didn't let her steal my joy. Good luck to you.

How long did it take for your weight loss clinic to submit to insurance once all requirements have been completed? My clinic said it could take them up to two weeks to even submit to insurance. I'm pretty sure that's not unheard of? Thanks in advance.

Well my medical records were sent to the weight loss clinic. they called me to let me know they got them and said there is bad news. We are missing a record from 2015 so we need that before we can submit to insurance. Well I have to go through the whole process again and get a 2015 record from them but they want me to go through the 4 week wait period for them to even receive it. Is there any other way I can get around it? Can I go to the clinic and get it, I know that they outsource to a company called health port and they take their time with it and I can not wait another month. Thanks for reading in advance (:

I am going so strong because I do it for my daughter... I am very unhealthy and have been fighting and going through hoops and obstacles just to get this surgery. My whole mind and thought process has changed and my daughter is growing up with healthy habits. I would be devastated if I passed because I couldn't change or even get this surgery. She needs a mom and I will be there to see her grow up. My fiancé Miranda is very supportive as well and she is on the healthy band wagon with me also. I am doing this for my DAUGHTER and also for ME. I have had a lot of negative feedback from so called friends and family but at the end of the day it is my body and my longevity! Who are you doing this for? What are your goals?

I work for insurance and that is not a qualified purchase under HSA, you would be fined for it as well.
