Always seeing myself the same fat girl
DeeM replied to lindabalseca's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
That's almost 1 pound a day!! And you say you had stalls, which by the way are totally normal. It's just your body playing catch is the way I looked at it. You're doing fantastic. Don't compare yourself to others, it will drive you batty. Also, take measurements today...cause when the stalls start again the measuring will keep you motivated. Even when the scale isn't your friend sometimes....that measuring tape is! Keep up the good work!! Awesome job! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using BariatricPal mobile app -

Great motivator! I really wish we had better support groups in my area. I found the support group to be a joke. It's a mandatory thing that you have to attend one support group for pre-op requirements and get it signed off by the person running the group. So 95% who go are just there to get their paper signed and haven't even had surgery yet. So what support are they? So I stopped going. Just wish I could find another. I'm thinking of putting in a complaint but have been too busy...kids, work, sports, sports, and oh did I mention sports?! Lol Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using BariatricPal mobile app -

Hello, I'm 9 months out and have only dropped about 10lbs in the past 4 months. I'm down 113lbs (CW174) total. I feel great! I'm exercising and enjoying it. BUT, I want to lose 15-20lbs more. I'm curious how many protein grams you've increased to? I know my weakness is my carbs. I strength train and have been told carbs aren't always bad....but for me they are my weakness. I need to find the happy medium. I feel I go way overboard on them. Lol I'd like to start losing regularly again. Seems it's only been 1-3lbs a month. Did you weigh yourself when you came home from hospital? I actually gained 11lbs in hospital from all the fluids. It took 4 days to lose that. Then I started losing.

I like the Bariatric Advantage. chocolate is the best. This sounds weird but it really taste different refrigerated overnight. I make mine ahead of time. When I'm running late or forget I change my meals around because I just don't like them freshly made.

Correct. What most people mean when they use the phrase 'muscle weights more than fat'(in terms of losing weight and the scale not dropping but your size is)is that muscle is denser or more compact than fat, so by volume it weighs more. One cubic inch of muscle weighs more than one cubic inch of fat. ... A woman who weighs 150 pounds and has 25% body fat will look much leaner (take up less space) than a woman who weighs 150 pounds and has 35% body fat. This is why taking your measurements is so important not just the # on the scale.

Thank you. That's great he is so supportive. Keep up the good work!

I usually get 1100-1200 calories a day now.

I started with grilled nuggets and Wendy's chili once a week ish. Then tried a big mac (only 1/3) cuz u had a "craving". Ate a dozen fries. Then found myself trying "just" a cheeseburger cuz they are "smaller" and I thought I'd feel less guilty. This was a month long thing. This was a SLIPPERY SLOPE! I got very depressed. Why was I doing this to myself? I've come so far. It's old habits. You have to change them. You have to fight the urge. Some may have will power to just enjoy once in a while....like once every couple months....but not us who got fat because of these old bad habits. I agree...find better ways to make the stuff you may crave. Avoid that slippery slope. The addiction is real. And the fight to not fall back into old habits is real. Best of luck.

Carbs are your fuel...40 isn't alot at all. At goal weight and working out 5 days a week 800 calories seem way low too. I'm not an expert just giving an opinion. I would maybe switch up your exercising. Adding some strength training too as someone mentioned above. Take measurements...muscle weighs more than fat. Maybe try carb cycle. Good luck. PS. I'm 7 months post op. Have been strength training since 8 weeks post op 2x's a week and walking 2x's a week...I've worked up to 90g carbs(good carbs)...strength training days more. I've lost 110lbs. Carbs are not bad when working out. Just wanted to give you a vision. Lol

I was fortunate to have a friend who is a personal trainer. So I hired her and I couldn't do it without her. She keeps me going. So many days after working on my feet all day where I just want to go home but I have my appt with her and know I have to go. Once I'm there I'm glad I went. But if she wasn't there waiting I feel I wouldn't go sometimes. For that reason alone...it's worth it to me.

What little changes do you notice?
DeeM replied to hermione53's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Looking in the mirror and seeing my collar bone. Wearing a size 13/14 from a 24...and they are becoming loose. Having my husband look at me in shock with a smile on a daily basis...not believing his own eyes. Not shopping in the plus sizes. Thrift shopping is so rewarding ...ladies sizes are more plentiful unlike plus sizes. Feeling full/staying full. Feeling sexy and I know it!! -
Carbs are your fuel. If your working out you'll need fuel. Eat good carbs. You can google for some options. If you use my fitness pal or another food diary app, you can set your marco goals. Mine was 50% protein, 30% carbs and 20% fat.
