Well I am not skinny yet, but I used to be, and every time I would go out to eat, the server woukd ask me if my meal was ok because I only needed a few bites to fill me up, which left most of it on the plate! That's was years ago, before my sleeve, but see? That's how skinny people are skinny and stay skinny. They eat enough to satisfy themselves and that's that. Since I got fat, I don't like leaving food on my plate. Hey, I paid for it and I was gonna get my money's worth! I also NEVER brought home doggy bags when I was skinny, which at that time in my life I believed help me stay skinny. Also, when I was skinny, I was always so cold! I used to bring little granny sweaters with me to every restaurant, department store, and casino because the air conidiotinng was just too much. I used to practically run outside into 100 degree heat from an air conditioned building and just stand there and soak it up, like a cat through a sun filled window. Now all I do is sweat. It's been a LONG time since I've been cold due to my 100 lb weight gain, even in the snow lol! Last year I took my son skiing, and I was so HOT underneath all the gear. I wanted to start stripping layers and I was drenched in sweat underneath. Not fun. Not a good feeling. That never happened to me when I was skinny.

Help! What did you bring?
Browneyedgirl41 replied to hernewselfie's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Mine was outpatient surgery, so I wore the same clothes (black top and black yoga pants- cotton and comfy), my abdominal belly band to put on after surgery, slippers (didn't need them as I had to wear knee high compression hose and socks (it was a really sexy look lol), my driver's license (ID), my insurance card, some aquaphor for my lips, my iPad (didn't use it), and my phone. Oh, and I had gas x strips with me. People said I might need them right away. Good luck to you! -
I've seen it too- on people's Instagrams that I know and occasionally look at, and I don't even have an IG account. Facebook is as far as I am willing to go and I got bored with that a long time ago. It's some kind of app or snapchat filter, I think ??? Kids these days lol. (I'm not even that old at 41, but if I talk to a 23 year old, it's like we live on different planets, and not in a bad way either- just different.)

I know. I saw the pork chop post and mostly was worried. I saw the taco post and hoped at least it was a soft taco. I HATE the liquid diet but am now finally able to introduce some soft foods. My husband has been acting like the food police and it's so annoying. I mean, I'm mashing up an avocado, not cutting up a piece of steak! I wish he'd do a little research. Did he expect me to live on sugar free Popsicles forever? For the most part, I think people use common sense and know their bodies, but other times I think maybe hunger drives them mad and causes irrational decision making. -
Anyone using an abdominal binder post surgery
Browneyedgirl41 replied to trekker954's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I bought mine from Amazon. I had the nurses put it on me right after surgery at the surgery center and wore it on and off (but a good amount) for the first 2 weeks. I highly recommend one. -

Need bariatric vitamin suggestions- HELP NEEDED
Browneyedgirl41 posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi everyone. I would LOVE some suggestions of the best tasting and effective bariatric Vitamins. Chewable or soft chews (no gummies as I understand they are not preferred). 1. A bariatric Multivitamin 2. B12 sublingual (I found one on Amazon called Bariatric Advantage in black cherry flavor) 3. Calcium (would prefer a soft chew- is Celebrate brand chocolate flavor any good? 4. D3 chewable These were the ones listed by my surgeon in my info packet. Strangely, there were no amounts listed. Any others that you think are important please don't hesitate to suggest. I know hair loss may be inevitable and hopefully temporary, I'd really like to try and at least lessen the effects of that by being a good girl and taking my vitamins. Thanks in advance for any replies. I would REALLY appreciate it. There are so many choices and I am overwhelmed. -
Hi everyone. Newbie to this site. This Tuesday will mark the two week mark from the date of my gastric sleeve operation. Last night I ate Soup and a yogurt drink (I was on Clear liquids for 48 hours and then on full liquids until week 4). I think I "drank" my dinner too fast and maybe "ate" too much because I was in so much pain afterwards! Today I have been slowing everything down, evaluating with each sip if I am full or not. Like most people, I am not used to taking my time while eating. This is a whole new world. I had tomato soup and then a cup of Morrocan mint tea for lunch and had no problems at all. Has anyone else made any "newbie" mistakes- eating too fast, trying a food you couldn't handle too soon even if your doctor okayed it? Last night was rough. Mostly I am annoyed because it was Saturday night and I like to watch movies with my husband and son during this time, but instead I was in the bedroom and in and out of the bathroom, having....issues. Ugh.

Eating reeeeaaaaallly slow
Browneyedgirl41 replied to Browneyedgirl41's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, it did help. Thank you! I drank a glass of skim milk, felt nauseated, clammy, rapid heart rate and had to ruuuuuuun to the toilet. I think it was dumping syndrome. WTH? It was NOT pleasant but over quickly, thank goodness. -

Need bariatric vitamin suggestions- HELP NEEDED
Browneyedgirl41 replied to Browneyedgirl41's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thanks so much for your reply. I am reading reviews on as many as I can on Amazon and some of the chewables get all 1 stars and are described as disgusting. I don't want to spend $55 on 120 pills that, as one reviewer put it, "leave your teeth stained yellow" lol. No thanks. -

What does your "full" feel like?
Browneyedgirl41 replied to kelliev2015's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm new to this so I eat slow so I can really think about if I am full or not. I have felt liquid want to come up (like it is sitting at the bottom of my throat) and obviously then I know I'm full. Usually, when I feel a good belch coming on, that means I am full. It's horribly unladylike. I hope it gets better! -

I couldn't do it either. 3 shakes a day? I thought it was completely ridiculous. Just do the best you can. Sip, sip, sip. -
Cheated on Pre Op Diet
Browneyedgirl41 replied to mrstkgreene's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't worry about the slip up. Some doctors don't even have patients on a pre op diet. Now, post op- you HAVE to follow the rules, even 2 weeks out when you feel pretty good. No chicken fingers! Those are my skinny son's favorite! food addiction, which I believe most of us here probably have, is much like other addictions- gambling, alcohol, drugs. Your brain is flooded with dopamine in the same ways. It takes time to retrain your brain not to want to head for the pantry when you are bored, stressed out, about to watch your favorite TV show. I was not always a food addict but became one in my 30's. I'm struggling and I know it will take time. The good thing is that I know I can't eat a pint of ice cream like before or I will end up very sick and in the toilet and I don't want to do that. Take care and good luck! -
I loved mine. I wore it on and off the first 2 weeks after surgery. I don't feel the need to wear it anymore. During the first few days, it helped a lot!

I always wanted to be taller because I notice extra weight looked better on women with larger frames. My son's second grade teacher from last year is overweight, but she's adorable! I mean it- big blue eyes, the cutest hair cut, bubbly personality. The same weight on me just looks fat. I was complaining to my husband about it and he said, "But honey, you're a small framed woman. You're not supposed to be carrying so much extra weight." I'm of average height (5'4"), but was always slim (26 inch waist) until my 30's. When you are "petite", you can't get away with an extra 5 or 10 pounds because it shows. I guess the grass is always greener.

When does this get better
Browneyedgirl41 replied to busybeebug's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I felt like crap the first week. I even felt regret, which from what I understand is not unusual, but that feeling goes away. 2 weeks was the turning point although with every new day I felt a little better. The day right after surgery was the worst for me personally. Just hang in there. You'll be amazed at the difference 2 weeks out which is where I am right now. I can't wait to see what I'll feel like at 4 weeks, 6 weeks, 8 weeks and by Halloween.
