  1. On Tuesday, I'll be 4 weeks post op. I got to go to mushie foods this week and what a difference from full liquids! I no longer feel like I am going to chew my own arm off from hunger. Also, in terms of soreness, every week just gets better. So for those of you just a few days out, keep this in mind. I was miserable and even regretted my decision to have the surgery at first, but that feeling is usually only temporary. I'm also no longer tempted to stuff my face once my sleeve is full. Before, I would just keep snacking and snacking even after I was full. I can be around potato chips and not even want one (plus at this stage it would probably hurt like hell and damage my stomach), but I honestly don't even want them! I can't believe it! Amazing!

What a difference a week makes!

One week is still pretty rough. Hang in there!

Totally normal, apparently, and especially with endo. I hope you get your energy back soon!

    DEEP, DEEP HUNGER

I'm about 2.5 weeks out from surgery and I have felt hunger all along except for maybe the first couple of days. Deep, gnawing in my soul hunger. I drank my Soup for dinner. I felt satisfied. I took my Antacid. I am drinking my Water. I try to tell myself it's in my head, but oh how I feel it in the very core of my being. (This is turning out to be quite dramatic, isn't it?) I had a single size unsweetened apple sauce, forced down about half a SF cherry Jello cup and drank a nice warm mug of morrocan mint herbal tea in order to curb this empty feeling deep within me. Then I found my husband's sugar free gum and started chewing that. Is this REALLY head hunger? Is it possible there is such a disconnect between my mind and body after years of mindless snacking and eating whatever I wanted, when I wanted and how much I wanted? Will it ever go away? I feel WAY hungrier now than I did before (granted, I used to stuff myself way past the point of satiety on a regular basis). Does anyone experience this and what do you to do to distract yourself from the deep, growling hunger inside? I need some good tricks or this is NEVER gonna work for me.

    I'm a mess!

I'm now 3 weeks plus out from surgery and am feeling pretty good. I got to start on mushy foods this week and I think that has helped. How are you?

That sounds more like dumping. ??? I'm so new to this that I haven't quite figured out what is what yet.

    DEEP, DEEP HUNGER

I started mushy foods this week and my hunger was much less yesterday. I almost felt back to normal again.

    DEEP, DEEP HUNGER

I ate some mushies yesterday as I was cleared to do so as of Tuesday (3 weeks post op). It was so much better- the hunger, I mean. Woo hoo! It's hard to stay full on liquids alone.

Yes! It's a really awful feeling! I have never had it happen before now, so I know it's somehow related to my surgery.

    DEEP, DEEP HUNGER

Thank you. Keeping that in mind for sure. I'm actually getting used to the feeling- whatever it may be.

    Skinny people problems

I've been to Sydney to visit and loved it. The Opera House was amazing and the cruise ship harbor area is one of the nicest I have seen. So pretty. I had only seen on TV before when they show the fireworks on New Year's Eve. It was very cool to see it in person. I watch The Real Housewives of Melbourne and now I am obsessed with going there- but I'm not going until I lose some weight so I can dress chic and do some shopping! My husband was born and raised in India, so next time I visit my in laws, it would be easy to plan a trip to Australia since it's close. Last time we stopped in Dubai for 4 days on our way home. It was incredible! Ugh. Thyroid issues can wreak havoc on your weight. I hope you've got it under control.

    Skinny people problems

The first thing I did was have my thyroid checked when I put on 50 lbs in 2 years. Turns out it is working perfectly fine. It was the 4 pints of ice cream per week I was eating! Lol! I long to feel cold again too. I live in southern AZ. It's warm here nearly year round as I know it is in many parts of Australia too. Our summers are ridiculously hot. I know once I drop some weight it will make me more comfortable.

    Stick to what you know

I was not sure what my GP would say about it when I went in for all my pre op testing. He was so supportive. I've been going to him since I was 27 (I am 41 now) and back then I was 123 lbs. He knows how much my appearance has changed over the years and all of the failed ventures I have gone through to lose this weight. I was so relieved when he was supportive and actually asked me to tell him more about the surgery since he is not a specialist.

    Flip flopping family member(s)

Since I paid for my surgery out of pocket (was denied by insurance because I didn't have any co morbid conditions such as type 2 diabetes or sleep apnea), the process went so fast for me that I hardly had time for food funerals! In fact, I didn't have time. I kind of wish now that I did, but that's the 3 week post op living on liquids me talking.

She's a miserable person. I'm sorry you even have to deal with someone like that.

Clammy and dizzy 3 weeks post op

My original thought was that it was the sugar in the yogurt. It could have been caused by a few different factors, or a combo. This is all such a new experience.

Clammy and dizzy 3 weeks post op

I actually thought about that because I have also used different forms of sumatriptan in the past- oral, injectable, and sometimes I notice tingling in my arms or even sweating- but never quite so intense. That could have been the culprit too, in combo with dehydration and the decreased caloric intake. Yes, my system could definitely be more sensitive to it. Thanks for bringing that up!

Went to the store this morning and got more smart Water. Thank you! I hope to not have a repeat of what happened yesterday.

    Meal delivery services

Wow! Thats crazy! The most i would pay is $60-75 per week. Yeah. That was nuts. It was my last ditch effort to lose weight before surgery. I only lasted one month.

Clammy and dizzy 3 weeks post op

For right after surgery, it said 48 oz, which is low compared to what I have seen others' plans say. I think maybe they meant 48 oz Water plus all the liquids from Popsicles, broth, etc. I can barely get in that much, let alone 64 oz. I'm just gonna have to keep working on it. Oh, and I read somewhere that the Protein Shakes and liquids do count as liquid intake, but what do I know? I'm the one getting dizzy spells! There's a lot of conflicting info out there about this, as there is with anything.

Thanks. Smart water is my favorite. I love my fitness pal. Was using it last year while trying to keep track of calories on one my many failed attempts to lose weight. Didn't know there was a water tracker. Good to know!

Clammy and dizzy 3 weeks post op

Thank you so much, OzRoo! This is all such a learning experience and takes a lot to get used to. Good to know I will be able to drink more eventually. I was worried about going to Zumba class in the future and not being able to chug water. It's a necessity when you are doing cardio.

Clammy and dizzy 3 weeks post op

Thank you for your reply! You are probably right. I doubt I get enough Water. I am not good about even keeping track but I see now I need to. I try, but I was never good at the 8 cups of water thing before surgery. I really like smart water. I'm out. Gonna go to grocery store tomorrow and get more. The good thing is that the whole thing was short lived, but it's so icky when it's happening. Yuck. I'm not worried enough to call my surgeon because other than this incident and some hunger, which is probably in my head and/or also related to dehydration, I feel pretty good. Thank you again for sharing your experience. I really appreciate it.

Clammy and dizzy 3 weeks post op

I'm supposed to get at least 48 ounces. Not sure if I got all that in, but I must be close. I'm still on liquids (puréed Soup, Protein shakes, drinks of yogurt, sugar free Popsicles). Kind of wondering if the sugar in the yogurt was too much for me. ??? From what I have learned sometimes post op, our bodies don't handle sugar as well as before. The good news is that it was short lived and I feel better now, but I just felt overall yucky when it was happening. I was dripping in a cold, clammy sweat. It sucked! Thanks for replying. I appreciate your concern/caring!

    DEEP, DEEP HUNGER

Yeah I figure once I can have actual food it will feel better! Right now, I keep having a pain and idk if it's gas or full or what? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I don't really remember having any pain, maybe more discomfort. If you're overeating anything liquid or puréed, you can overdo it and cause that. I had a pretty rough time the first couple of weeks, but it does get better! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App It almost feels like a burp or something. It does it no matter what though. Kinda like my belly is gonna eat my insides. It might be digesting and I'm not use to it. I am gonna have to get use to all the feels and what they mean. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App A lot of burping- well, actually belching for me! I sound like Homer Simpson, but it feels so good. It's so unladylike, though! I take an antacid and a PPI and it still happens. Hopefully we'll either get used to it or it will subside over time.
