I am terrified of soda.
-
Agreed. I'm on full foods now and will take a bite of hubby's dessert - I try not to deprive myself because for me (me alone, I'm not advocating this) I can have the one bite which prevents the bingeing on sweets (haven't done this yet, but know it's been my issue in the past). I think a 90/10 rule is healthy. Again, for ME and after cleared for full diet.

Exactly what @highfunctioningfatman said. Stay the course, you have a low weight (compared to someone like me who was hw310 sw300) - it will come. And you'll be better prepared for the rest of your life, unlike chip girl.

Week 4 Post Op: Thanksgiving Food
rolosmom7 replied to carterbeauty83's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah, I'd think a slice of turkey pureed with some gravy would be good if you're looking to get the Thanksgiving feel. I had mashed potatoes on puree, so if your plan calls for that, they'd be a good couple bites. Enjoy your Holiday regardless - it's really about spending time with family and friends. ☺ -
Ladies only - IUD or Implant?
rolosmom7 replied to rolosmom7's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm concerned on the hormone piece. I'm taking continuous bcp but have to tp control endo. With the weight loss comes the hormone dump from hell, so doc recommends mirena or nexplanon. I just don't know which to choose. I'm battling it in my head so much, you'd think it was life or death haha. -

Ladies only - IUD or Implant?
rolosmom7 replied to rolosmom7's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Oh good, I'm sure you're looking forward to that!! Thanks for your response. I'm concerned about the cramping that occurs with IUDs and this hormone dump just makes things whacko. -

Yeah I'm a little scared of something like that with an IUD. Yeah I'm a little scared of something like that with an IUD. -
As others have stated.... it's not the best plan. I couldn't have mashed potatoes until 21 days. And I don't eat potatoes now that I'm on solid food bc most carbs are just too filling. I also haven't tried any pie, but I'd be extra careful with that.

My hubby isn't drastically overweight, but he's put on a little belly since we got married. I also noticed that he feels compelled to eat any food that I leave on my plate, and he's put on a few more pounds since my surgery. I talked to him the other day, and he grew up without enough food and was taught it was wrong not to clear the plate. We agreed that I'm not going to give him my plate anymore, because it's reinforcing bad habits for him. One reason for me having the surgery was so I could get more active with him, go on walks and such. So we're all going to focus on healthy cooking and eating, including better portioning. My husband has the same issue - not a lot of money as a child, so they had "wish" sandwiches (this is when you have 2 slices of bread and wish something was in the middle). So when they had food they ate every last but. Even now if they go to a buffet, they have to eat and eat and eat to get every cent worth. We cut off hia family about 2 years ago (thank you sweet baby jesus). But he def has the same thing. He's working on it and has lost weight since my surgery since we aren't getting Chinese, pizza, etc. But I totally get it. Your hubby sounds reasonable and I'm glad y'all have a plan!!! New obsession but not good!
rolosmom7 replied to melbell2222's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
P3s! I love those things. Make sure you're cleared for nuts, and watch the ones with dried fruit as they have 100 more calories. But I recommend them - I have 1 for breakfast every day! -
Yep, thrown way off! I'm actually in my OBGYNs parking lot about to go in for yet another appt. I have endo so ... fun complications. But it definitely throws your cycle out of whack.

Beautiful!!!

I haven't started out, short of walking my dogs a good distance. I still have an issue with water intake - I get 72oz in but that's it and most nights I'm still sipping as I go to bed. So I am waiting a bit longer until I can get more calories and water in. I'm 2 months post.

I did it! Got sleeved yesterday 9/2!

Whoaaa you look like a whole new man! Great job!!! -
The sleeve is like a backpack..

Great analogy!!! -
They can adjust 3 sizes smaller and retain the integrity of the dress. Also, most bridal runs super small. Just some things to keep in mind. I'm sure you can have it altered and will look great!

25 days in hospital...need advice!
rolosmom7 replied to concernedwife99's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
There are a number of BP members who work in the medical field. I'm not one of them and I hope you hear from them with solid advice. Here's the best I can offer: Have various lab tests and imaging been done? Has your husband seen his primary doctor for input when not in-hospital.? Has he contacted his medical plan for referral and/or advocacy? It may be that he needs to see someone in a specialty other than surgery, e.g., gastroenterology. Unless you live in a small town near Nowhere [will you name your town and state?], I don't see why the surgeon would have said there is no one else, certainly since he also says he has "no idea,,," The response is unacceptable given that the problems persist. As a non-medical person, I know that fever likely indicates infection. Getting a second opinion certainly would be wise and within your husband's right. If you want to find a medical advocate to lighten the load for you, try googling "find a medical advocate." Several things come up, including info at AARP's site, Oprah.com, Consumer Reports. I can't speak for their usefulness, but they are there to be explored if you wish. The reason he said he is the only one is because he is the only bariatric surgeon in this hospital. But, there are 3 other bariatric surgeons in the same city who do the sleeve but he won't call them. He wants to stay in his own network. He said we can get a second opinion but the nurses told us that us just calling another surgeon's office will get us no where. We need HIM to make the referral. Sent from my SM-G920P using the BariatricPal App I would call them anyway. Explain to them the situation and see what they say - the nurse may be right or may be wrong. I recommend calling for yourself. -
I'm looking at 175 at 5'10 - 145 seems crazy low for being so tall?

rolosmom7 replied to concernedwife99's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You should definitely be able to get a 2nd opinion. That's crazy they're telling you that. It might be a situation where you just have to put your foot down and be an @$$ just to get what your husband needs. There are people here in the medical field as stated above, hopefully they have some insight. I hope they find answers for you - best wishes. -
Drinking question
rolosmom7 replied to Jenny Nelson's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I asked this a few weeks ago, majority seem to not have an issue 6 months down the road. It's what frustrates me most! -
Target also has a $10 off $50 coupon and 25% off a lot of their meat. I picked up a lot yesterday since the sale was so good, waiting in the freezer now.

Regular foods: what to eat?
rolosmom7 replied to princess9's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My week of meals (dinner) is this. I'm still playing with recipes, etc. Cheeseburger pie (heart healthy bisquick) Zucchini lasagna Crock pot beef stew chicken alfredo dip (also crock pot) Chicken breast in italian dressing marinade with veggies - i eat this often Pork chop with husband's spice rub with veggies I don't eliminate carbs, but I keep them low because they just make me uncomfortable. Starchy carbs are low, I eat fruit, nuts, complex carbs. -
Had to Abruptly Stop Taking Cymbalta After Surgery; Having Medication Withdrawals
rolosmom7 replied to AweLauren's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Agreeing with everyone else - be VERY careful with anti depressants, I'm speaking from experience. Hormones and frustration will make you nuts and depressed after surgery. Please keep your baseline good. Maybe your PCP can help??
