BEST protien shake option
rolosmom7 replied to lemonzinger907's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
what optifast do you use? I don't think my place allows us to use it..not sure why! I just looked it up online and there are multiple optifast options but one tge optifast 800 weight loss shake only has 14 Protein. And out place says shakes muat have at least 20 grams if protein so maybe that's why or in looking at tge wrong optifast shake. So many weight loss centers have different requirements.. my place did give us a list and guidelines if we picked our own but it's strict.Yes, it's the optifast 800. The reason I don't use it is there isn't enough protein. But I really prefer the taste. -
BEST protien shake option

I got a sample pack of Premier. It's ok. Still prefer Optifast. Looking at recipes with the Torani syrups or a bit of fruit to help them taste decent. -
It took me 15 months. Insurance companies are slow - nothing you can do to speed it up. Just keep on trucking.

Menstration and weight gain
rolosmom7 replied to sondra2368's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I gained 2 pounds overnight! I know it's just my period but it still sucked. A stall is one thing, but to see a 2 pound increase sucked. -
Throw up or slimies? I think there's a big diff. I've only really thrown up once. Slimies happen as I adjust to food and have 1-2 bites extra. Constantly throwing up is a sign to either step back a stage or eat way less.

Yes. I remember thinking "wtf, this thing was supposed to help me lose weight!!!" when I got back from the hospital. Of course I was just bloated/swollen. I think I likely still am, as I'm down 40lbs and in the same jeans as always.

What do you miss or think you will miss about being obese?
rolosmom7 replied to 111's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Pizza? So far, the only thing I'm genuinely missing is the ability to chug a bottle of water. I've always been a huge water drinker. Now it's almost a chore. But... really I miss nothing and I'm only 40lbs down. 85 to go! -
Is 100 grams of protein too much for a woman?
rolosmom7 replied to Heather I's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
5'10 goal is 800-100. Going down to 10 seems very odd? -
Thank you! I'm sure once you get home and can break the bad vaca habits you'll do better. Just be very careful not to spring a leak! I just tried chicken today. Protein Bars, string cheese, etc. are your friends when you don't know what food is available.

Returning to work 1 week after surgery?
rolosmom7 replied to sleevette's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Eek! 1 week would've been bad (I'm only talking my experience). I did 2 weeks off, a week of half days, and sometimes still leave around 3-4 as opposed to 5. I have a desk job. The only thing remotely physical is the building is a mile long. It was wayyyy too much for me. If you can I really suggest 2 weeks at least. My Dr. Wrote me for 6 and I wish I would've taken all of it! -
Ladies - if you think something is off more than just hormones go have it checked. After a night in the ER and a morning at my OBGYN, I'm scheduled for emergent surgery tomorrow morning. I was clotting massively, my blood loss is pretty significant and now I'm on my 2nd surgery in 2 months. I have no idea if it's weight loss related but wanted to share my experience. I've always had very heavy periods with high blood loss but this is different - makes me feel drunk.

What have you been eating, and how has your Protein been? I was sleeved 9/15 and just hit the 40lb mark but I am 5'10 so it's obviously coming off me faster than others. If you're following your plan I think it's way too early to be concerned.

Unjury Chicken soup flavored protein?
rolosmom7 replied to Boudala's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have to order on their site -
@@lizardqueen I feel pressure where my esophagus is - it's always 1 bite too many when that happens

I'm cleared as well but terrified of making the wrong choice now!

Not a stupid question - the shakes count. In the beginning just focus on 64oz of liquid. I wouldn't go 48 if you're counting shakes but add it all up and if you hit 64 you're good.

I had a sleeve, not a DS but I'm still feeling fatigue.

BEST protien shake option
rolosmom7 replied to lemonzinger907's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Nope. I think they're disgusting, overly sweet and nutritionally not as sound as many other (whey Protein isolate) choices. AND My nutritionist forbids them unless it's a dire emergency. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App What do you drink? I'm hoping to be able to get my protein with food ASAP. I haven't tried it yet but I was totally shocked that someone said Pure Protein was their favorite. I poured that nasty crap down the drain. To each their own I guess. Sent from my LGLS992 using the BariatricPal App What's your favorite right now? -

Am I the only one who doesn't like Premier?? I have a multi pack from amazon, tried the chocolate and thought yuck! I have vanilla and strawberry to try as well. -
My husband has always said my health and happiness are his top 2 priorities in life. I have no doubt that he'll love me at any size (I was around my goal weight when we were dating). I do take him to my therapy sessions at times. But I wouldn't be too concerned. I'm sure hubby will come around when he sees how much happier you are. ????

What has been the hardest part of your journey thus far?
rolosmom7 replied to xoxococojay's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Post op for sure. Pre op diet wasn't fun but you get used to it in 2-3 days (I was on Optifast). But having the gas pain, not being able to have Water for 24 hours, the constant struggle to get in water after - it was rough. Everything tastes like fake sugar or fake salt. broth tasted like I was licking a salt cube, even if it was low sodium. Protein drinks taste like sugary sweet chalk. Once you get to purees and mushys it gets better. But I did tons and tons of research, have a huge binder detailing all my diet steps, ways to help with mental health, etc. I thought I was prepared, and when it hit me in the face, I wasn't. -
No more weight loss
rolosmom7 replied to cheryl417's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm very very sorry about what you went through, and agree with @@Babbs on the malpractice. When it comes to your weight, I highly advise low carb and high high Protein. I'm not sure how far out you are, but I cannot eat Pasta or bread. Those are empty carbs and not giving you any nutrients. I hope things go better - I understand how you can slip up after that kind of trauma, but get your mind back in the game so you stop eating the wrong foods. Have you looked into a therapist? I see one every week and it's very valuable. Best wishes! -

Hi tall friends! I'm 5'10 - HW 310, SW 300, CW 269. I was sleeved 9/15 - ao glqd to see other tall people! What are you all setting as goal? I feel like the BMI charts are off the taller you get. Is it just me?
