Goes by state, goes by level of insurance and goes by the company or state/govt you work for. Sent from my SM-G930P using the BariatricPal App I understand - I'm just saying that working for one of the largest companies in the country isn't even helpful if they're quoting family rates. Was just curious if it was individual and i was getting a "good" rate for working at a massive company, or if it was even higher.

I'm on full food but struggle. I find myself eating a lot of soup, pork with a lot of sauce, hummus, and cheese. I struggle with a lot of things I really wish I didn't but it's still early days.

I'm not sure if you guys are quoting for yourselves or your families - I work for one of the largest companies in the nation and pay 79 for ME only. Family rate is 215. My husband is VA. If you want to see a real cluster -

Interesting, I haven't noticed a change either way. I'm married for only 2.5 years and youngish at 27. Wonder if age plays a role.

I work for a company that employs 300,000 people. My health insurance options are terrible. We're also in enrollment time. [emoji35]

Need answers..

I just see the unhealthy food and know that a - I've eaten enough in my short life and b - if I want a bite of mac and cheese, I'll have a bite in 6 months. We're having an offsite bbq for work tomorrow - fried mac and cheese balls are off limits, but there will be some great smoked brisket and I'm bringing tomato and green bean salad. There's a lot of beautiful colorful tasty food we can have, instead of the beige fried carbload a lot of us ate prior. -
Having a bad day!

I eat unsweetened applesauce if I'm really struggling. It's not as hydrating as water of course, but it does give you some hydration if you're really really struggling. -
I just picked up a rotisserie chicken and took the skin off. It's moist and goes down okay. If something doesn't go down well for me, I wait 2 weeks and try again.

Unjury chicken soup is really good

Vegetables Post-op?
rolosmom7 replied to elizabethirenex3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 6 weeks and haven't found a vegetable with the exception of celery and carrots cooked in soup. Raw or quickly cooked veggies unfortunately don't sit well yet. -
I am 3.5 years out and have been in maintenance for over 2.5 years. I've heard of Halo ice cream but I've not tried it, nor do I really plan to. I was never a huge sweets person, but if I did indulge, ice cream was definitely my dessert of choice. Life is already filled with temptation at every turn, I see no need to purposefully bring another into my life. In reading this thread, I have two "issues" for lack of better word. First and foremost, I am not sure why one would even consider buying ice cream of any sort at only two weeks out. I applaud your thought process of talking to your surgeon before eating it but just the fact that you brought it home gives you license to eat it regardless of that conversation when you hit a weak moment. Why have that little carton of yum whispering to you in the freezer when you should be concentrating on changing your habits? Along with that, you now have all this "validation" that it's OK for you when really, it is NOT AT ALL IDEAL at your stage in the game. You have people telling you how delicious it is and even one telling you that "most people cheat" so you can too. (Insert HUGE eyeroll here.) Later maybe, but not now. My second "issue" is that fact that there is still the thought process that food is a "treat". That's a road directly back to Fatty Mcfatpants, a place I never want to revisit. A treat is a concert tickets and fitting comfortably through the crowd and in your seat. A treat is a new pair of skinny jeans in the single digit sizes. A treat is newly found collar bones and hip bones. A treat is fresh flowers on the kitchen table or a new trashy novel to enjoy on the next rainy day. A treat is a session on treadmill or a hike up a mountain without losing your breath immediately. You aren't a dog. Food is no longer a "treat" and what exactly is it "rewarding"? Fatty McFatpants!!!!!! I've thought about using this instead of milk to make my Protein shakes taste less like @$$ but not willing to go down that road.

So many biased one sided opinions on here...
rolosmom7 replied to john925's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
But who's fault is that? So many posters come on here, asking questions that they should be asking their surgeons. They are the ones seeking medical advice from strangers on an Internet forum. It's fine to ask about other people's experiences and opinions but they should not be asking what THEY should be doing. Unfortunately they do. I completely agree that post WLS is not a one size fits all formula. Everyone needs to find what works for them, under their doctor's supervision. In my responses I try to stick with describing my own experience, but make it clear that it may not work for everyone. No one on here is qualified to tell any other patient how to proceed with their diet and excercise programs so it's the people asking for advice that need to realize the responses are indeed, opinions and individual anecdotes, not medical facts. Exactly. I come here for opinions and other's experiences. That's it. -
I tried it just shy of 6 weeks and I didn't get sick but wasn't comfortable either. I love salad and have great salad bar options at work but am sticking to the soup side of it still. I don't think it will harm you, but I've seen it cause a lot of people discomfort early on. Wouldn't want you to have the miserable afternoon I did! I'm try again in 2 weeks, that's my standard wait time.

Like everyone else I very very highly recommend therapy and treatment for any eating disorder prior to and after surgery. It might stop you in the beginning, but you could cause very serious internal damage. I wouldn't go into surgery with an unresolved eating disorder. It's bad mentally and physically.

Temptations everywhere ...
rolosmom7 replied to itzbrittaanyx3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The work table. Does anyone else have a random table at work food collects on? Someone brought in donuts or bagels or its someones bday so there's cake, or leftovers from a team lunch. It's always full of something! I just love sitting next to it. Haha. The absolute WORST. And why do they have to have donuts at EVERY meeting??While there are still plenty of carb-filled choices, my company finally moved toward more protein-based choices at company events -- especially breakfast. This came about because so many people were skipping the provided breakfast and expensing breakfast at the hotel (at a hefty cost -- even taking elite benefits into account). Once all that extra cost was analyzed, they started making some changes.I work for a massive company - I have to walk a good 3/4 mile for a healthy breakfast or lunch - which is good for steps! I'm just waiting until I can hit up the salad bar!! Currently sitting on the commual food table - a bucket of trick or treat goodies a vendor brought for me. -

Attending a wedding @ 6 weeks out
rolosmom7 replied to bostonmama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Salmon was fine for me at 4 weeks. Flaky fish I tolerate very well. Not sure what your plan says, but I think a bit of salmon is reasonable. I'd skip the alcohol though. -

I'm sorry. My family is very considerate of my situation. For example, my Italian family had pasta last Sunday but made sure I had meatballs to enjoy with them. I've asked my husband to not bring pizza in the house, so he orders it days he's slammed busy at work and can't get out. We work together to make it work. Have you tried talking to them? They don't really listen. There mindset is when I'm 6 weeks out, I can eat everything they are cooking or ordering. I'm still going to choose healthy choices because than what was the point of me having surgery? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Good job for making the tough, good choices. I'm just appreciative my family makes aure I'm included, even if they're all eating pasta and bread around me. Maybe they'll start to change and find a happy medium. I did this for me and no one else, but I'm glad my husband is choosing to be a partner vs eating BK in front of me. Support is always plentiful on the forum! -
I kinda "graze" but it's the only way I get enough protein or calories in. I usually have 3 meals, but split each meal into 2 eating sessions. So that's 6 times a day. I don't munch on peanuts aimlessly, which is more of what grazing is to me.

Cheated 5 days after my sleeve
rolosmom7 replied to jenniferbook902's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
This isn't Weight Watchers. It's major surgery. The post op diet isn't a suggestion. It's mandatory for your health and well being. Do you know what a leak is? I really wish some of these surgeons would read these forums. The would think twice about who they would operate on. I didn't have the sleeve I had the bypass so leaks really Dont happen with bypass Sent from my SM-G935P using the BariatricPal App Do you really think that you can't have a leak with RNY? I would do some research to see the many complications of RNY including leaks.Agreed! Watch the surgery on youtube if you believe you can just skip out on things - struggling with Protein, fluids, etc won't kill you but a leak could. Take a nice look at the staple line. I'm terrified of nuts forever. -
