    Mourning while Changing

Awe hunny I'm so sorry for your endometriosis struggles!! Be glad you have time on your side though and please heed my advice, when you can... start your fertility journey!!! Do not wait!!!!! It can take some intending parents 6 months to get pregnant and it can take 5 years or even more!! If you try and try and decide on adoption that can take another 1-3 years to get a baby. I sort of always assumed "they have a pill for that" type thing and here we are encroaching on the dangerous stage of 35 plus and still struggling to have a child. Not to mention the Financials. Just for perspective IVF starts at 15K in Michigan here and only goes up. It's also not a guarantee you will invest and end up with a baby! Not trying to discourage you I just wish hubby and I would have started our journey a few years prior. I wish someone would have warned me. I thought I could lose weight on my own and save money for IVF but life got in the way and we achieved neither. It will be at least another year before we can even safely do an egg retrieval due to the sleeve so I'll be 35 at the youngest having a baby which starts becoming high risk and high chance of mental defects for the baby. So please stay strong, be positive but start talking! It never hurts to get a game plan with a fertility specialist even if it's for the future! There are great options too like gestational surrogates!! It's pricey but sometimes best for women who have serious conditions such as yours! We can chat here or you can PM me if you would like to speak more fertility related. We had been trying for an altruistic gestational surrogate but due to finances and other complications we still can't swing it so all things baby are on hold while I do the sleeve and we save $$. I also need the mental break. We may decide to adopt but I was adopted so it was not what I was hoping for... Sent from my SM-N910P using the BariatricPal App Thank you! I'm 7 weeks post op so we will see what the next year brings - hopefully good things for both of us! I have put off treatment like lupron because of the devastating effects on fertility. It's me constantly wondering what the right thing to do is. Fortunately, I am young but know I have to make a serious decision by 30. I wish you all the best with your WLS and fertility - adoption may not be your first choice but you'd still be a great Mom.

    It gets better!

Ditto. I went to the Renaissance festival today. It was the first visit I wasn't crying on the way back to the car. I have plantar fasciitis which is still there, but damn does 45 less pounds make a huge difference!! This will also be the last year I can get by with this corset. Laced up as tight as it can go! NSV. I'm 7 weeks post op. Some days I feel normal, some days not.

    Drinking sodas

I drank a sip of cherry limeaid on accident when I got me and my husband's cups backward. It was pretty bad.

    Ate alot

I ate one the other day, I'm 7 weeks out. Finished about 75%. I don't think it's too much food, given it's a semi solid consistency.

    Brown rice

No room for rice - rice expands more in the stomach than other carbs too, I'd advise extreme caution. Does your plan talk about rice?

    Steamed dumplings

Yes, but only the insides - I split them open and don't eat the dough. They're stil l delicious.

    Mourning while Changing

I have endometriosis and a lot of the same concerns - at 27, my husband and I aren't ready to rule out kids. For me weight loss hasn't helped (it actually caused me to have a second surgery from hormone levels). But, just wanted to reach out and let you know you aren't alone!!! Oh we also have similar stats - I'm 5'10 and started at 310. Want to be 175 or so.

    Protein Sample Menu

I just got Fairlife milk at Target yesterday. We were out today so didn't get the chance to try it, but will be for breakfast!! For those having trouble with nausea, cheese sticks seem to always work for me. That definitely won't help constipation though.

    Walking the dogs

Omg dying at this. Too freaking adorable!

    Slip in pre op diet

I keep Protein shakes in the car as a "just in case." I haven't had to use one of them yet, but in these kinds of situations, they would come in handy. What would you do in this same case if you were in the first week or two post-op when you risk injury in eating the salad or chicken? That's the point @@rolosmom7 was trying to make...Yes, exactly. I know life happens when it's least convenient - I keep 2 shakes and a bar just in case!
  11. My wedding rings come off! Not in the bad way - they used to have to get windex from the back when I had them cleaned and inspected and now I can just take them off! It's a small miracle [emoji4]

    Fear of Failure

One more vote for working with a counselor or therapist!!! The mental journey is the toughest part.

    Upper Respiratory Infection AKA cold...

Yes, I wish I had a solution. I cough so hard I dry heave and will occasionally cough up nasal drip type yuck. This happens ever fall for me, but I didn't realize the new annoyances that would be there with the sleeve.

    Slip in pre op diet

I would make sure you're mentally prepared for post op. I'm not sure what your circumstances were, but you did make a choice to eat off plan. Pre-op that can be a slip up, post-op that can be extremely dangerous. Leaks are real. I suggest you watch the surgery on youtube so you can see just how raw your stomach will be. You will have to make hard choices regardless of circumstances. Make sure you set yourself up for success. Best wishes!!

Approved & have lots of questions...

Expect, or at least be prepared for, worsening depression. I wasn't prepared and it hit me like a freight train. Luckily, I have a standing appointment with a therapist. Most (not all) people experience depression and regret at several points in this journey. I sure do!!! Just wanted to share - wish I'd known before hand. Best of luck, I'm sure you'll do great
  16. Water weight is real - don't forget you were pumped full of IV fluids.
  17. This ^^^ - I can't stand the nasty, fake sweet bars/shakes. I can tolerate oh yeah bars, but I really just want real food. The fake dessert is awful. Birthday cake protein bars??? Come on.

    Regular Diet

My plan was 6 weeks "anything" goes. But I don't eat veggies (I think I can just now tolerate some carrot sticks with hummus, fingers crossed!) - I have lettuce less salad that contains boiled egg and chicken bits from the salad bar. I eat as much Protein as I can through food - but I've found that I can't eat as much as I need. Soups are still very nice on my sleeve. dinner was chicken that marinated for a longggg time. Just chicken - no room for anything else. Teeny tiny bites. No "sides" with meals. I definitely am nowhere near a normal diet. I got a bit brave (still completely on plan), and it made me feel horrible. I'd definitely listen to everyone's recommendations here - they're the best group!
  19. Shelly has a pot roast recipe. It's great bc it will feed your family dinner, but you can take broth and whizz it up. I put it on top of mashed up potatoes, and it just looked like shepards pie. I don't eat potatoes now, but that saved me in purees. Great flavor.

    Thanksgiving

@@rolosmom7 If she starts asking questions, tell her you are low-carbing. I would also make sure to go overboard complimenting whatever dish she brings, just to keep her mind off of what you are eating. (I have a few crazies in my family too, can you tell? )LOL that would mean she knew how to cook! No worries there, she won't bring anything but her attitude. She asked me how to assemble a hot dog a few months ago. I kid you not. Best of luck with your family!!! That is a serious Thanksgiving! How do you feel about giving us all your address? ????

    Wrong decision?

I didn't have one either. Morphine does nothing for me, after my husband and mom pleaded with the nurse, she finally got my surgeon to approve dilaudid. Even with that, I was up the first 2 nights as not only was I in pain, my surgeon took my mental health and sleep meds away. I had no idea prior to surgery he would do this (just my celebrex was stopped) - when I did preop at the hospital, they took a list of my meds and said not to bring them from home since they'd have everything I need there. NOT! It was pretty rough.

    Thanksgiving

I have also been nervous. My family knows, except my brother and sister in law - because she is crazy. I come from a huge Italian family. The kitchen is the center of our gatherings and yes, there's always Pasta. I know I'll be able to eat turkey, a bit of green bean casserole, maybe some sweet potatoes. But the rolls, stuffing, etc I of course won't eat. I just hope she doesn't get started asking questions. I prefer drama free holidays!
  23. I'm down 45 pounds, same pants, same issues! I have totally been debating the hair tie trick because it has GOT to look like I my pants too! I also don't want them sliding down and accidentally flashing my undies at work!!!! I have random sizes, I think from a 16 - 20. My mom is a thrift store junkie so she's on the hunt. Otherwise, I would be. A lot of the time things still have tags! I live by a ritzy area so our Goodwill has some good stuff! I need some of these dressy yoga pants!

    Harder than I thought....

Haha my husband told me this morning he was going to lock it up and only take it out on Sundays. I don't think he was kidding...
