I am 8 weeks post op. Suddenly this week, I am very hungry. My usual AM premier Protein shake wears off very quickly, and I need food. It's not acid, but real hunger. I've been eating yogurt, cottage cheese, veggie burger, banana. Is this hunger here to stay? I've also been craving sweets and salt. Odd!! Thx! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Thanks for the replies! I know it's not acid bc I take Prilosec everyday, and neither Pepcid trial or Tums trial made it any better. I eat chicken as well, plus tuna, eggs and ground turkey. I tried beef, but did not go so well. I am getting 70 plus grams of Protein in daily, and over 70 oz liquids. I get full fast when I eat, so I stop eating bc I thought I am supposed to stop when my body says stop. Maybe I need to slow eating down more, so I can get a little more in at my mini- meals. Hello! I am about 5 1/2 weeks out from my gastric sleeve. Unfortunately, my post op period has been complicated by a wound infection, 4 days in hospital on IV antibiotics, then 2 weeks of oral antibiotics. Now I have C Diff.... but I am trying to stay positive! This too shall pass. I have started doing Pilates and am eating food (protein!). On my way to hospital with post-op infection, after being in ER all day surgery. My Initial surgery was self pay, bc ours has no Bariatric benefits. My Bariatric RN Coordinator just called to tell me that though initial surgery was self-pay, any/all complications ARE covered by insurance. Can anyone verify this is true from personal experience??? Now Post op day 7. Was in ER post op day 5 with infected drain site. Got a dose of IV antibiotics and started on oral antibiotics. Now with fever, increased pain and high heart rate again. Feeling sad and frustrated. Miss my 4 kids, and paying out of pocket.... so feel guilty about this massive added expense. Any prayers appreciated. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I am ironically tucked into bed, in the exact same room as I was in for my surgery. Bad infection, terrible pain where I actually cried... but after a few days, I'll be ok. For sure, no leak. Thank you- I had CT scan Saturday that showed no signs of leak. It did show a big gnarly swollen mess of tissue all around the drain though. I just want to get better Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I was 9/26, and unfortunately the drain in left upper abdomen became infected. I was in ER all day yesterday with fevers and terrible pain. I am on antibiotics now, and drain was removed yesterday (excruciating!!) I feel much better, but still have a decent amount of pain plus soaking sweats and chills. Drain site actually looks worse tonight than it did yesterday. I go back to surgeon Tuesday AM... Other sites do not hurt at all! I can keep up with my liquids without problem. Once I got sick, I regained the 5 pounds I had lost... all inflammation I'm sure, bc still on no-cal clears. But bummer a bit anyway. Glad you are doing so well! Love hearing an update! Hello! I am 42 years old. And post op day 3. I am still having a lot of left shoulder pan. I've been told it's "referred" pain due in part to gas. My surgeon also said he had to "peel" a portion of my stomach back from where it was touching my diaphragm. He thinks some of my pain is from an irritated diaphragm since he had to manipulate it. Has anyone else had this? How long can this shoulder pain last? It's rather miserable. I am not short of breath, no fevers, and essentially no abdominal pain. Just a pick ax sensation in my shoulder. Much much better! Pain 90 percent improved. Highest temp only 100, still sweats/chills. Able to keep down my antibiotics. Had to change sheets and pjs twice overnight with drenching sweats. Thank you for asking! When do you get your sleeve? Are you going to another country to get it? Smart to look into insurance!!! I was honestly worried about "complications" and being out of pocket... I hope this continues to go smoothly. Today I feel like a normal person. If this is what it was supposed to be like the whole time, the recovery is not bad. Thx again! My the left shoulder pain continued to worsen over last 2 days. Then it progressed to severe left upper abdomen pain I was having fevers, sweats and shaking chills by this AM, plus unbearable pain. I was like a turtle laying on my back, I could not sit up or even roll over bc hurt so horribly. Turns out the drain in left upper abdomen became infected, though outside wasn't even red until tonight. Boy is it red and hot now! My surgeon pulled the drain out of the swollen infected insides of me, and I almost passed out from the pain. I am self pay, and though nervous, I decided against getting re-admitted to hospital. So I got several liters of IV fluids and IV antibiotics. Fingers and toes crossed that I am some better by tomorrow. I am supposed to return to being mom of four by Tuesday... I am 9/26 as well, in Virginia.10 days to a new, fresh start!!! My surgeon does not have any special pre-op diet... I was thinking of doing liquids for a week anyway. Thoughts? Your pre-op diet?
