Opinions on which surgery to choose?
krissyfattofab replied to kc13's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm going through Richmond Kaiser too. Don't have that 4 hour class until next week. I have 4 family members that have had RNY. They all have horrible deficiencies with Iron and b12 and that's with taking Vitamins. My dad almost died from a blockage that was caused by the re-routing. I never was a fan of bypass. How does the process work? I've haven't been able to find out much information on how the process works or how long it takes. I really would like it done this year for financial reasons. Does EVERYONE have saggy skin?
krissyfattofab replied to staceface's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 37 too and still pre-op. I carry a lot of weight in my tummy, butt and thighs and have been concerned about this. I've been watching videos and it makes me sad all the excess skin being fat makes me sadder. I am ready to shed this weight and if it means I'm dealing with excess skin I have to tuck and hide until I finish putting my 4 kids through college (my youngest is 3) that is better than being a hermit and letting my weight dictate my life. My hubby and I are going through this together and he is all belly. He has slim and muscular arms and thighs already. He just says he looks like he is pregnant with twins. My husband and I have our 4 hour orientation 10/20. How much weight do they want you to lose? I have been trying to get back on track and am losing about 1-2 lbs a week. I'm nervous that I might lose the easy weight before my class and struggle to lose the amount they are going to require. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Making the journey...together
krissyfattofab replied to Charles in charge's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My hubs and I are starting the process together now. He got his referral last week and I got mine today. Praying that this is a turning point to a healthier and happier life. He is diabetic and I am over the moon that he finally decided to make this move with me. I have lost weight on my own just to gain it back. It can create a lot of tension in a relationship when you have one person who is trying to work out and eat healthy while the other isn't. The more weight I lost the more I wanted to get out and live. He wasn't there so I let myself go back to old habits just because it was no longer worth the fight. Now that we are both on board together I know we can both succeed. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

That's how I felt looking for information. It's like a black hole. My MIL went through Richmond 15 years ago for bypass but that's when they flew you to San Diego. It's changed so much since then. When did you get your pcp referral? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Strange. I haven't gotten my call only my husband has but he doesn't push or ask questions. I hope to get my call tomorrow and get all my answers. It will save us a couple thousand dollars to have it done this year so I'm praying it all Works out. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Did you have to wait a long time for orientation? I wonder if since we have to wait until December if they will look at weight loss between now and then. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Thank you for your response. What was the process? Did you have to take classes etc? I lost 75 lbs last year on my own in about 4 months but...the laundry list of excuses. I have since gained it back. I want to get going again on my weight loss again. I have since gained it back. It seems to be horrible cycle of losing and gaining. I want to lose for good this time.
