I was planning on going last night but couldn't find anyone to watch the kids. Dr Baggs will be happy that you went. That's one of the questions he asked. I was worried he was going to ask to lose a large amount. Since the hubs and I have lost about 10 since our orientation he said 5 more pounds. I am 1 pound away from the goal now so I'm really anxious to get an appt with dr z. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Be prepared mentally to start your pre op diet right away. They look to see if you've lost weight between orientation and your next appointment and I think that has a huge part in the goal the surgeon sets for you. He was very happy with what I lost between orientation and my appt with him. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Labs and such you can do at your local kaiser. Vacaville kaiser has a bariatric support group as well (they strongly recommend you attend at least 1). But you have to go to Richmond for your orientation, surgeon spots, psych appt, case manager appt and any additional appoints they may require based on the above appointments. I had my appt with dr baggs yesterday. I am less than 5 lbs from my goal weight but the psych spots are booked through November. I have to call on Friday for an appointment in December or to see if they've had any cancellations. Crazy they have 4 surgeons but only one psych and case manager. Kaiser Northern California (Richmond, CA)
krissyfattofab posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi. I've been lurking on here for weeks as my hubby and I finally committed to embarking on this sleeve journey together. I'm still waiting on my referral to bariatrics but my husband already got his and his first appt isn't until 12/2! I've scoured everything I could to try and find out the process for this location...do they swear folks to secrecy because I can't find anything. We were hoping to work magic and have our procedures this year as between our 3 year olds issue with seizures and my husbands diabetes we are close to our out of pocket max this year. Anyone gone through the process in this location and have insight into the process? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

@@necarv yeah now that he is on board it's much easier. I lost a ton of weight last year and gained it all all back. Slipped back into old habits with him. I actually think if he has his surgery first I will continue to lose weight without it. You can do it. Keep your eye on the prize. Now you are just burning 1/7th of a pound each workout alone. I've been journaling which is helping. I write down when I think I'm hungry instead of grabbing something to eat. It's helping for now. I've never heard of Orangetheory - where's that at? @@necarv it's going. Trying to find ways to keep food interesting and not have to cook separate stuff for the kids. Thankfully my hubby and I are going through this process together so we can encourage each other. I have some friends who went through the Richmond process this year and had their surgery and told me they used the pre-op diet as a guide, modified it to fit their lifestyle and both lost a lot of weight pre surgery and pretty fast. I've been doing intermittent fasting to help. So I try to eat between 11 & 7 and that helps. I haven't given up my coffee yet. On the bright side I've already lost 6 pounds. What kind of workouts do you do? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

@@bubbz333 I had my orientation last week - lots of information. Be prepared they want you to hit the ground running with the pre-op diet...like walking out ready to go from that moment on. The pre op diet is at least food, albeit limited quantities. Very adamant about Protein first. So if you like veggies in your eggs or want to make a protein style sandwich you're outta luck. I have my appt with dr baggs on 11/1. Hoping that I don't have too crazy of a weight loss goal. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I have Kaiser NorCal and I work for a big Bank that only offers co insurance plans. I enrolled in the best one they offer and I have to pay $2000 which is my individual out of pocket max.
