Ladies : Did any of had your period during surgery?
gabysmum posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi ladies, This is kind of a weird topic but my surgery is scheduled for 10/27/16 and I just got my period a couple of days ago so if I'm as regular as I've always been I'm scheduled to get my period the same day of surgery. Were any of you on your period or got your period while in surgery or in the hospital? How was it handled, what did the doctor or nurses tell you? I'm going to be so uncomfortable I want to cry! Any suggestions for me? Many thanks in advanced! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -

I hope your surgery when well and you are feeling good! As for the mesh underwear and pad, at least its something. I'm with you about feeling embarrassed! I had 2 kids via csection and believe me, I cringed everytime they wanted to clean me up (tmi) down there...My best wishes for a speedy recovery and a healthy journey! You don't look like you need weight loss surgery!
gabysmum replied to shannenm's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hear ya! I'm 5'10 and 286 (on a good day). I wear an XL top and a 18w -20w on the bottom plus I'm latina (big butt and legs). My bmi is 41, sounds so ugly when you say morbidly obese, like, I'm so heavy I can die from complications due to my weight. I have been 318 lbs and I know that I most likely be there again. So, I don't look like I need (or deserve) to be healthy? people are plain confusing...I'm not telling anyone anymore, made 1 mistake and regret it! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -
Do you tell your friends or not?
gabysmum replied to Lucky2Lose's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did not plan on telling any of my friends and then on Friday I decided to tell a close friend. She used to be very supportive of my healthy eating and exercise routines and lifestyle, I lost a lot of weight and then I gained some back. She told me I didn't need it, that I can do it by myself and that it's a lot of money (I'm self pay). Well, I explained how I have tried and failed, and that I can't lose 100 lbs on my own at 41. That if I calculate how much $$$ I have spent on equipment (at hime gym I had with a spinning bike, weight bench bowflex weights etc..), Shakeology, Nutrisystem etc. I've more that likely spent 3 times as much. I can't do it on my own, thats a very sad but realistic realization. Then she says, I should do it too (she is 5'7 158 lbs) "I need that to stop eating". That last part made me regret telling her. People don't realize this will be hard on me, my husband, my kids and although in the end it will be worth it...the journey is far from easy..so, I'm not going to lay myself out to be judged or ridiculed by people who either don't understand the struggle or want you to continue to be as miserable as they are. Ughh...My husband said that the easiest and best thing is to tell the truth. Of course he isnt having the surgery and doesn't have to deal with the gossip, questions, back hand comments and "easy way out" looks. I'm a very private person. He said that they will eventually find out, however, I've been going to the gym and dieting for about 4 months and loosing some weight...he is clueless about how I feel, and he himself has made me feel depressed, ugly and less because of my weight.. not all the time, but we have had issues. He is overweight too..heh Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

Sleeve in Boca Raton, FL $10,500
gabysmum replied to SaltLife's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Did you get sleeved? My surgery is on 10/27 with Dr. Shillingford. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -
I think I'll use the hernia story. I've been wondering what to tell people specially being latino and if you know us you know that everyone and their mother is up on all your business...I have a Halloween party the day I come back from the hospital and I need to cancel after confirming attendance. In terms of weight loss, I've been very active at the gym for about 4 months and have slowly lost 10 lbs so hopefully it will not be that unusual (my body finally kicking in with the weight loss)..lol Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
