Wow! So sorry that we inconvenienced you all. Maybe I missed it but when I started on this site a month ago, I did not see a "how to" as far as asking questions. Maybe its time for some of the veterans to bow out... you have forgotten what it is like to be a newbie and to feel overwhelmed about this whole process not to mention the ton of information coming from all different sources. Some of you have forgotten what it is all about...if your bored with the questions...move along and don't waste your time. I thought it was great to be getting input from the "VIPs" and "Bariatric Legends" but I don't want a veteran who has forgotten where they came from.

Help keep us "newbies" motivated as we navigate through all of the pre-op requirements. What can you do now that you couldn't do before? -
Surgery or no surgery?

Welcome! I am relatively new to this board too but am learning something new every time I log on. Very supportive group so ask away and do some searches to see if the topic has been covered recently. -
What do you wish someone had told you BEFORE your surgery?
switch2lose replied to switch2lose's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
Valentina - thanks for the heads up about the intensity of the fibro nerve pain. I do have fibromyalgia so I appreciate that heads up. I am sure others with it will feel the same. -

Looking for info and support - new to site!
switch2lose replied to kcb*'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi KCB I have very similar requirements from my insurance; I do have to go through the medically supervised weight-loss as well. I heard that you will do better with the surgery if you lose a good amount of weight prior to the surgery. I actually looked up to see what my weight would be for the BMI to be acceptable for surgery. I could lose like 40 more pounds before I get to the BMI that would require co-morbidities. I do have some comorbidities so I don't think I will have an issue. The way I look at it is I am going to have the mindset to lose as much as I can before the surgery. If I happen to lose more weight than I expect....well I will deal with that when it happens. Good luck....I will keep in touch as I am also just under 6 months out from the DS surgery. -
I have read and heard from DS patients about temporary hair loss post-op. Just curious how many of you experienced this and how extensive the loss was and how long. Thank you for sharing.
