  1. Hey, Susie! My name is Carol Milstead and we use to live in Candler from 1971-78 and I taught school at Candler Elementary. It's nice to hear from someone in this area. We recently moved to Liberty, SC from Brevard and I had my lapband surgery at Oconee Hospital in Seneca with Drs. Hughes and Paluzzi. It has been a wonderful experience! My surgery was Feb. 18th and to date I've lost 46 pounds. I'm 62 years old and would never have been able to lose anywhere near that amount on my own. I need to lose about 50 more but if I didn't lose another pound, I would still say it has been worth it! (By the way, my husband pastored Mt. Moriah Wesleyan on Fairmont Rd. in Candler....know where that is?) I hope you have a good Asheville doctor and keep on investigating!

    Today is the Day!

Just want you to know I will be praying for you. I'm 62 years old and my surgery in February was a breeze! I work as a church secretary and after having my surgery on Monday morning was able to go in on Thursday and do the church bulletin. I did get very tired. I was only on liquids for a week prior to my surgery and lost 15 pounds from the time I started liquids until I returned for my 2 week check. I've NEVER been able to lose weight like that and now, 2 1/2 months out I've lost 28 lbs. I don't think you will gain after surgery! I thank God everyday for the wonderful tool and it's so great not to be on a diet! I've had 2 fills and I think the biggest difference with me is that I eat so little...not what I can't eat but how much of it! I have a little trouble with dry meats but if I chew, chew, chew, and take little bites I can eat about anything.

I received notification that if I didn't join the forum that the messages would stop so "here I am". I was banded on the 18th of February and had my first fill 2 weeks ago on April 1. I really have not felt any restriction but since my doctor was on vacation all last week I couldn't see him. I am scheduled for tomorrow, April 16th and hope that something will happen. I haven't found anything that I can't eat so consequently I probably haven't lost anything. (I lost 15 lbs. during my liquid and "mushy" stages) I've done this (self-pay) to lose weight and get healthy again. I want to serve the Lord in a greater way and right now my health keeps me from doing all that I really want to do for Him! Please pray that after tomorrow I will feel the results of a "fill" and start down again!

Guess I did something wrong. I'm new at this! Stepoffaith was scheduled to have surgery today and I thought I was replying to her.

thanks, Candy! I joined in Feb. shortly after my surgery but had not written anything. I was so happy to find Christian Bandsters. I am a pastor's wife in SC and of course when I had the surgery EVERYONE in the congregation was aware of it. I am being accountable to over 200 in church as well as to God! I really tried to watch the protein intake but like I said, I was neglectful of other vitamins. I have my first fill on April 1 and am a little anxious. I'm still on the "mushy" foods now but am anxious to chew something!

I had my lap band surgery on Feb. 18th (4 weeks ago yesterday) Last Friday, March, 14th, I had my hair cut and became quite distressed when my hairdresser found 2 bald spots that she said were probably caused by a lack of proper vitamins. I had been taking vitamins, but somewhat sporadically. I'll make it a regular routine now!!! Has anyone else experienced this, and will the hair come back?
