  1. You say wanted to.... did you not go? It is soooo important to get a bag or two of Fluid when needed. This should be drilled into patients' heads...
After surgery you PROBABLY WILL need IV fluids a few times. This is not a failure! This is expected!

If you don't want to be admitted, find out if there is a place to go on an outpatient basis.

I did go and get iv fluids but I was not admitted. I should've clarified. She said she'd like to admit me but was satisfied with me getting the fluids.

  2. I was sleeved 1/17/17. I'm having regrets. I can relate to what everyone is saying on here. I can't get my liquids in, I feel like crap. My Vitamins are making me sick. I can finally eat a small amount of shredded food like turkey or cheese etc...

I have been to see nut and surgeon who wanted to rehospitalize me for dehydration. Told me to stop exercising for now and eat low calorie carbs. I'm probably only getting in 400 calories a day. I am drinking blended Protein powder and Trop 50 oj with ice as suggested by nut but I hate it.

I felt like once the initial healing period was over I'd have more energy etc... I'm worse now than ever. I'm losing weight very slowly.

I'm really trying to tell myself this is all temporary.

  3. Wow. I'm also 8 days out. I'm having a much different experience. I'm so tired and feel flu like. I'm having trouble getting my liquids down.

    Any advice you can offer?

Pstart: have you tried unjury, or genpro unflavored protien???? It can be mixed with anything, and no taste. Its very important that you get your Protein and Water in. Thats most important at this point. Try chicken broth, how about tea, non caffinated. Lots of times you need to also experiment with tempatures.

You dont want to get dehydrated, thats dangerous. Small sips constantly. Good luck

Thank you. I'm ok with warm herbal tea. I have trouble with plain Water any temp. I've tried the Protein powder some with minimal success. I think dehydration is my biggest problem. I appreciate the support and advice. I'm really struggling.

The only advice I can offer is to just keep drinking all day long. I carry my Water bottle everywhere with me, even to the bathroom. I even take sips when I wake up in the middle of the night. I never had flu-like symptoms, so I am sure that is making it tough for you to keep drinking.

  5. I was sleeved 8 days ago. I'm trying to figure out if what I'm feeling is normal post surgery or I need to see the doc.

I have been feeling really lousy. I have headaches of course stomach aches and I am very lethargic and sleepy. I'm supposed to be on full liquids but I'm struggling to get things down. I'm getting severe chest pains when I swallow anything. I think I may be swallowing too big/fast. I'm forcing myself to drink even though it hurts. I'm also forcing myself to walk 15 mins a day.

I'm not losing a lot of weight. I think my body is on starvation mode. Can anyone help?

  6. I was sleeved on Jan. 17. I had a rough time recovering in the hospital including an extra night stay. I was sent home after being able to keep down liquid pain meds and some Water.

I'm really struggling to drink the Water. I'm nauseous and I have major food aversions. The thought of eating or drinking makes me physically ill. I have probably had 64 oz of water since Monday. It's now Friday. How do I get this water down. It just and makes me sick.

Ps. My surgeon said my surgery went very well and was easy breezy because I did so well on my 2 week pre op diet.

  7. I cheated too. My surgery is in 6 days. I've been so good. Starving, miserable and definitely detoxing. I've lost 14 pounds in 7 days. Tonight I took a bite of my son's spring roll. I immediately regretted it and I also immediately felt very, very sick. The guilt is overwhelming me. Also reflux is overwhelming me too.

  8. Well.. I'm 2 days in and I haven't cheated. I did accidentally lick my finger while making my son's PBJ this morning.

So far I'm hanging in there. I have not had much energy and I get really hungry to and have to "eat" a doctor given shake or something about every 2 hours.

I've been running to the bathroom more than ever but I guess that's to be expected.

My biggest hurdle is that I feel like I'll never be able to eat real food again. I'm grieving the loss of my "drug of choice" food. Will I ever be able to have a small cup of coffee again or a small piece of chicken?

  9. Hi all. My surgery is Jan 20, and I'm in a Facebook group with others having sleeve surgery in January. The ones that have already had the procedure are describing horrible pain from gas. I have yet to read somebody who said it was tolerable. Everyone is in excruciating pain for the first few days, some even staying in the hospital 3 nights.

Does anybody have a surgery story where the pain was bearable? I know it's going to be painful, but I'm not ready for the blinding pain that's being described by others. Help! I'm freaking out!!

I'm having my surgery on Jan. 17th. I am really super anxious about the pain as well. I had my gall bladder taken in April. It was more painful than I expected it to be but I recovered quickly. I'm hoping the pain will be equivalent to that or less. Can anyone out there compare? I know there's much more to recovery for something like this. I just mean pain in general.

  10. I got my date. It's January 17th. I start my 2 week pre-op diet tomorrow. I'm dreading it, feeling anxious, can I do this? I have to do this!

Mine is on January 17 also! We will get through this!!! Fortunately, I only have to do 1 week of the pre-op diet.

  11. Hi everyone,

I'm in the process of being sleeved and though I don't have an offical surgery date, mid to late December is what I'm being told.

Tonight I had my first Life Skills class, which is how to live/eat after surgery. I have to say, I'm feeling a little overwhelmed and panicky. Though I still want the surgery and a healthy lifestyle, all the "don'ts" are freaking me out! Not to mention, having surgery around Christmas with 2 young children.

I guess I just need to be" talked off the ledge" so to speak.

    Help!

  12. Does you insurance require a history showing your BMI as over 40? Some require like a 2 year history, others do not. If yours doesn't then I would suggest gaining weight. Doesn't sound like you need to gain too much, so head to a buffet, eat what you like, wear heavy clothes to the weigh in, put rocks in your pockets... whatever it takes to meet their magic number.

I'm not quite sure tbh. It is the easiest route
