Today (4/19)is my one year surgiversary! HW-268 DOSW-263 Current weight-168 100 pounds down[emoji3] Height-5'4 18 more pounds to go til' goal! Where are you guys, how's your progress?

To my fellow April sleevers where are you at now in your journey? I was sleeved 4/19 at 263. I had my six week check up 5/30 and weighed in at 241. I'm gonna weigh again this Tuesday hoping to hit 235 by then.[emoji3] Everything's going well for me. I don't have any gerd or problems with bowel movements. I also started working out 2 weeks ago. So how's everything with everyone else?

Update, currently at 231 when I weighed last Saturday. I hit a 3 week stall in June as well. I'm trying to hit 221 by the end of July. I go on vacation on august 18th to vegas and I'm realllllly hoping to be at least 215 by then[emoji3] Start W-263 Currently-231 Surgery date-4/19/17

So my surgery is set for April 19th. I can't believe how fast my 6 mo. requirements went by! [emoji3] I start my 2 week diet on April 5th and pre op meeting on 4/10. Any other April sleevers in the house?[emoji2]

I was on full liquids after two days. But trust me,full liquids isn't any better! It gets old fast! I am soooo tired of protein shakes and soup[emoji501] ,lol!! I have 3 more days before I start the purée stage..I have been craving grilled chicken salad[emoji31] 🥗 Chicken is the first thing I'm gonna purée.

Btw, I am also sleeping a lot and I get tired more easily...,I guess it's because of low calorie consumption...

Glad to hear everyone is doing well[emoji2] I had my one week check up yesterday and I'm down 12 pounds since surgery on the 19[emoji1474] I am also able to guzzle water, although I do catch myself after 4 gulps[emoji15] I don't do it all the time but I get tired of sipping when I get thirsty...I have to be on full liquids another week before I start purée which sucks because I'm so tired of liquids[emoji37]

My surgery went well. (4/19) First day was rough with nausea from the anesthesia and horrible gas pains! It gets better each day though! 3 days post op and I feel so much better[emoji2]. All the gas pain from surgery is gone. The only pain I'm having now is from two of my incisions. But it's not too bad[emoji1474] The first two days my pain meds were a God send! I don't have any Gerd or anything...in 3 days I'm down 8 pounds so far[emoji3] My wonderful surgeon was Dr. Lufti at St. Joseph's hospital in Chicago [emoji3]

I'm newly sleeved, 3 days post op and 8 pounds loss so far[emoji3] Surgery was 4/19 @. 263.0....today 4/22 @ 255[emoji3] My one week check up is this coming Thursday. I started the full liquid phase today,does anyone have any other suggestions as far as full liquid eating choices? Im doing premier protein,carnation instant breakfast protein shakes and cream of chicken or mushroom soups. I know my protein shakes are a must but as far as other liquids,anyone have any other suggestions? I'm going out tomorrow to get some tomato soup and maybe clam chowder...

I go in tomorrow at 8am! For those of you who already had your procedure this month,how are you doing?[emoji2]

So my final appt. with my nutritionist was suppose to have been this Monday 3/6/17 and then my paperwork would've been submitted to the insurance company. Well I got a call last wed. from the office saying that my appt. would have to be rescheduled and they would call me with the date. I told the receptionist how long would I have to wait because that was my final appt. after completing my 6 mo. insurance requirements and I now have to wait longer?! She apologized and said within the next couple weeks because they were bringing in a new nutritionist(the old one left suddenly) and there are other patients who also had 1 last appt. left to complete their requirements and they didn't want to prolong it further. I know this is beyond their control but I'm just pissed and annoyed that this happened right before my final appt....I know their are other vsg patients here that are getting sleeved with Dr. Lufi at St. Joseph's in Chicago. Is there anyone else on here besides me who's appt. was canceled? Now it's a waiting game and I'm on standby waiting for them to call me back!

Thx! I had my final appt. 3/15. Surgery is set for 4/19. I have a pre-op meeting tomorrow 4/10. Yeah Dr. Lufti is great but I agree that the office is a bit disorganized! They were supposed to have called me for my final appt. on 3/15 but they didn't..I just so happened to call the day of the group appt.,2 hours before. So that was annoying as well...They also didn't stress getting doctors clearance from my PCP in order to get sleeved until the last minute AFTER I completed my 6 mo. requirements. They only told me that I just had to complete my 6 mo. requirements for insurance approval and that I would be scheduled for surgery.. That annoyed me too because my PCP didn't want to clear me because I'm anemic. Luckily the coordinator called and spoke with him,I just have to be sure and take my iron supplements.... So things got rocky towards the end but I'm almost there[emoji2]

Oh I didn't have to do the sleep study. Not sure about that one... Things ran smoothly until my last month when Kim quit. Yeah I would stay atop of things with them calling you back. They are cool peeps but this aggravated me.. I'm gonna call them tomorrow to see if my paperwork was submitted. Yeah it's great to know someone going through the same program[emoji6][emoji3]

Bekah7482 there is an online site that does batiatric psych. Evals for $150. That's what I did. The process was super easy,I did an online questionnaire and then I spent about 10 min on the phone with a therapist.

Hey everyone, thanks for your replies. C3love5 I went to that group meeting this past Wednesday and did my final appt. The thing is, they didn't call me like they were supposed to to let me know about it like they said they would,I had to call them🙄. So luckily I called right on the day the meeting was being held an hour and half before it started,smh. That pissed me off too because they told me twice that they would be calling me with my final date. yeah Dr. Lufi is great,one of the best in the state,he teaches other surgeons😉 Now I'm just waiting for them to submit my paper to insurance. I'm going to stay on them too.....

So I scheduled a total of 3 consultations. I had my first one sept. 6th with dr. Tiesenga in Elmwood park,IL. Everything went smoothly, nice clean environment and I was seen ON TIME for my appointment. They gave me my referrals for nutritionist,etc,consulted about the procedure and I left. There is also free parking and the waiting area wasn't overcrowded. The only thing is I didn't actually meet with dr. Tiesenga. I met with the nurse practitioner. She was friendly and professional thou...so my first appointment went well???? My second appointment was today sept.21 with UIC on Taylor street in Chicago. They asked me to come 15 min early to fill out paperwork. My appt. was at 2pm. I got there at 1:42pm and the waiting area was packed! The line was in the hallway! I signed in and luckily found a seat. The receptionist weren't friendly,they didn't speak when I walked up to the desk and the intake people weren't all that friendly either. They all seemed overworked. 2:20 rolled around and I still hadn't filled out any paperwork! They were behind and there were several peeps in front of me waiting to be seen! There was also an unpleasant odor in the room (although it was clean)and the overall energy felt rushed and congested,like you couldn't form a relationship with the staff. Needless to say, I left and won't be going back! It was a complete waste of time going there. The good thing is,my third consultation is October. 6th with an excellent surgeon,Dr. Lufi at st. Joseph hospital. I've heard nothing but good things about him and his staff,I've watched a couple of information sessions with him and he is very knowledgeable, I like his personality and he has performed over 3000 procedures. He also teaches other surgeons about VSG. Lastly,he and dr tiesenga work together so I have a choice between two excellent surgeons with great reputations. So basically I am sooo not impressed with UIC. I heard good things about them too but I'm glad I got to experience it for myself to make a decision. I just hate I wasted time driving from the burbs for nothing..

No I don't have to. I just wanted to consult with them because I heard good things about them. I'll most likely go with dr.lufi. I'm not sure if northwestern is in my insurance network.

bcbs ppo is different from the family health plan. Thanks for responding

Does anyone have this insurance? What was your experience? I had my first consultation today and the nurse practitioner told me that I have to see a nutritionist for six months,get a psych evalve and get blood work done. I thought there wasn't a supervised meal plan requirement anymore? She also said that they don't cover gastric bypass only gastric sleeve and lapband....again, I thought all 3 were covered.? I called bcbs to find out and they were clueless!
