10 months out and stalled for first time.
NYCDreamer posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hey all. Haven't been on here much since my sx. Up until this past month I've thought myself to be kind of a model sleever. Logged everything, worked out 6 days a week. No bad foods, lots of water and protein. Steady loss each week without fail and no stalls. I've gone from 263 on sx day (11/10/16) to 186. For the last month though, I haven't lost a pound, and even gained (always would lose it and go back to that 186 though). I'm stumped at what it could be. Tried upping carbs a bit (I do a keto diet mostly) increasing water (I drink 80-90 oz regularly so increasing more hasn't seemed to do anything) and I eat 80-110 oz of protein regularly, and still stuck. Is my metabolism messed up? My calories are usually under 1100, and net carbs under 50. If anyone has any advice, let me know! My Nut wasn't much help; just said to wait it out. Is that the only thing to do? Thanks! -

Maybe? I do a lot of biking and I know my legs and thighs are getting muscular (under that flabby skin unfortunately) but it just seems weird that it's happening like now. I've been working out since 6 weeks after SX. Constantly. It's just frustrating. I don't want to be in maintenance yet. I still have 35 lbs I want to lose. -
So I'm officially one week out as of today. Have been able to hit Fluid and Protein goals since day 3, and only took pain meds for first two days. Went back to work on day 4. I feel very lucky and blessed as it seems there are many who've had a rough go of it in the first few weeks. I'm down 21 lbs since preop, with 5lbs lost since sx. Not too concerned yet as I know I was very bloated on fluids in the hospital. Doc gave me a good report and even told me to start purees early if I wanted (org told start purees at 2 weeks). Can't wait to see where I'm at in a month! HW: 374 1/15/16 SW: 263 11/10/16 CW: 258 11/17/16 Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

The day has finally come. I'm currently sitting in the waiting room at the hospital getting ready to head into preop. I'm so excited and nervous. I've been through such a wild ride so far, and I know it's just beginning. Managed to lose 17 lbs on preop, and 111lbs since my journey began in January. Here's to the new start of the rest of my life! HW: 374. 1/15/16 SW: 263. 11/10/16 Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I don't know my goal weight...
NYCDreamer replied to Raymia's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My goal weight is 160. I'm 34 and 5'4. I know I'll have loose skin as my high weight was 374 back in January. I'm 263 now so I have about 100 lbs to lose. My surgeon thinks I'll hit that within 9mon - 1 year. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Oh my goodness! That's a huge loss! How fantastic! Congrats!! I pray I can be that successful. I started in 26's, lost 100lbs on my own and am now into 18's. I'd die happy to get into anything under a 10. My SX is next week and I'm super excited. May I ask your stats? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Howdy all. I'm set for 11/10, 10 months after my weight loss journey started and 8 months since I first visited my bariatric surgeon (insurance required 6month doctor monitored weight loss plan). Having it done in Long Island at LIJ. Currently 286, HW in January was 374. Hoping to be 270 by the time surgery comes around so I have about 110 to lose after. Goal weight is 160. Any NY sleevers out there looking for surgery buddies, hit me up! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

All my pre op liquid options
NYCDreamer replied to McKinneyMom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Thank you! I'm super ready lol. And yes, I've gone far passed my expectation preop. The 6 month doc supervised plan really changed my life. I developed different habits and it made me prepared as best as I can be for life after sx. I know some ppl don't want to wait, but I'd recommend that to all! Had the consult today, everything is set. Also, learned my scale at home has been off. It's reading 3 more pounds than the doctors official bariatric one. So of course I'm on a Quest now researching more accurate scales lol Man, signing all the paperwork really drives home how real it's all becoming. I say that each time I experience something that moves me closer to sx but today kind of really hit me. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

So today I went to a wedding of a dear friend of mine. First off, I was able to find a awesome dress I could wear that didn't look like a mumu and, I discovered I fit into an 18/20. I've always been 26/28. Next, at the wedding I came across people I haven't seen in years. All kept commenting on how much weight I lost and how great I look in the dress. Let me mention that for the above listed mumu reason, I haven't put a dress on in about 10 years. It was always slacks and a blazer. I felt like a woman today. I felt pretty and playful and even caught myself flirting with people. This all before I've even had surgery. I honestly can't wait till I have my sleeve and become even smaller. Hey all! This is my first time posting! I heard about the site at one of my doctor visits and realized it's a good idea to start finding some kind of support for now and after. Some about me! Sorry if I ramble.... 33 soon to be 34, and have been obese literally all my life. Yoyo dieted several times with no success. Highest weight was this past January at 374. Woke up one morning with shortness of breath and severe heart palps. Thought I was having a heart attack. Went to the ER, no attack, just anxiety apparently. Also emergency doc says my weight was dangerously high even though my bloods, X-rays, and MRI's look like a normal weighted person (go figure). That was my wake up call so to speak. I became so jaded about people staring and pointing and not fitting on airplane seats or amusement park rides that it just didn't phase me any longer, but waking up feeling like I was dying...yeah that did it lol. So, from Jan 15th I started my "lifestyle change. I decided no more dieting, I was going to have to make the choice to dedicate myself to healthy eating. No more fried food, sweets, white breads, eating out, & gorging. I ate 1200-1500 cal daily, started working out 5 days a week on my recumbant bike (that was used as a clothes hanger for the past 2 years) for 35-40 minutes a day and trying to hit a 300 burn cal/ 7-8 miles goal (which I was happy to see I could do only 1 month in). Co-worker told me about the sleeve as she had it done 3 years ago and dropped over 130 pounds. She said it changed her life and she was so happy she did it and I should look into it as well. She gave me the name of her Doc, Larry Gellman at North Shore/LIJ in Long Island. Went for a consult in March and got a great vibe. They laid out everything, how surgery was not a fix it but a tool to help and told me exactly what to expect, and what I needed to do. I work for the NYC school system so our insurance requires the 6 month supervised weight monitoring. I figured that was okay though as it prepares me long term, and gives me time to get all those pre-op tests done. So, the next months flew by; I was steadily dropping, getting all my testing done, met with the NUT and the PSYCH who gave ne the all clear. Once July hit I upped my workouts to 6 days a week, sometimes 7 and added in treadmill walking and some yoga streches a few times a week as well. I had a few hiccups as I was blessed with 2 vacation oppertunities this summer- one to an all inclusive (which you know is nothing but food and alcohol) and Disneyworld (one too many Dole Whips, Micky ice creams, and Turkey legs). However, August hit (which was month 6) and my final doctor weigh in was 297; I lost almost 80lbs, and went from a BMI of 64 to 49.7. The nurses cheered and I actually teared up. Today, I weighed in at 289.3. Holy shucks. Tomorrow, I have a telephone conf. with the surgery booking coordinator to finalize a date. I am nervous and excited as I can't belive it's becoming a reality. I am hoping I can schedule something in the next 4-6 weeks. Would love to get this out of the way before the holiday seasons start so I can go into the new year ready to continue changing my outside to match my inside. If you're still reading this, thanks lol! Any advice to offer for a pre-op gal such as myself? Also anyone in the NYC/Long Island area? Would love to know if there are any support groups or whatnot around and have the oppertunity to talk and get to know others in the area.

Surgery without telling anyone?
NYCDreamer replied to lynnedilligaf's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm 33, single, live alone, and work in a school setting that has a staff who gossip worse than the teenagers we teach. I've decided at this point to only have my mother and 2 closest friends aware of everything. Thankfully my mom is very very supportive, and my friends are super happy I'm doing something which will make me feel better long term. I know I'm going to have to say something at work eventually as I am noticeably obese, and the severe weight loss that's going to happen in the short time after the surgery will be obvious. I honestly don't known how I'm going to approach it. Will i take on a idaf attitude and just come out and say it to whoever asks, or will I beat around the bush and never give a straight answer which in turn, will most likely make the gossip worse. Oh vey lol. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -
