Just curious to see who actually paid for their surgery and who had it covered by their insurance. How long ago they did it and where.
-
I'm so thankful for everyone who commented, it genuinely made me feel much better knowing that it is a common thing that most of us who did the surgery went through it too. It's honestly so comforting to have a forum like this to constantly talk about my experiences with the surgery to people who are either going or have already gone through the exact same things as me. I will be looking forward to completing my 2 weeks so start feeling better. Thanks again everyone!

Not trying to sound dramatic or anything but I've been on this forum since 2016 and I've been fantasizing about having this surgery for the past decade and I always knew in my mind that the day I do it will be one of the happiest days in my life especially from watching all those YT videos of people speaking about their positive life changes after the surgery and all... now I know that that there are truly positive and beneficial changes which will come from the surgery especially when it comes to health and life expectancy apart from the visual aspect of it and I know that in a few months once I start seeing the difference and losing weight I will feel differently too BUT right now, 5 days after the surgery, from the moment I came out of the operation room and opened my eyes up until this moment I cant stop feeling but regret that I did the surgery, I'm not sure why I feel this way but it's causing me somewhat of a depression and I'm feeling sad all the time that I did it, that I had to cut a part of my inner self and go through all this pain and misery to lose weight, regrets that I couldn't do it without surgery eventhough I tried dieting hard so many times and for so long. I just really regret having this operation and I feel so unhappy about having to do it now that I've done it eventhought I've been wanting to do it for so long. Anyome else who's had it felt the same way, and what helped you move on?

How much liquids is actually enough?
Hiccup replied to Hiccup's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums

Day 4 from the surgery and my doctor has advised to consume a minimum of 1.5 to 2 litres of liquids but as much as I try to drink I'm just unable to tolerate more than about 500 to 700 millilitres a day and mu urine is starting to turn pretty dark especially at night time. any advice on what could make me tolerate more liquids such as water? congrats! just had mine on September 4th. -
Just curious to know how many people in this forum currently active are around my pre-op weight.

Hey everyone! Had my surgery on September 4th. I'm 37 years old and I weighed 445 lb 2 weeks before the surgery. Lost 11 lb by d-day. Surgery done, doctor said my kidney was so far from my stomach so much so it all went perfectly well. Now, come to day 4 and I still have pain in my upper chest it feels like someone is stabbing me. it's not constant, it comes and goes but when it comes it's painful, not extremely severe but pretty damn painful, ESPECIALLY WHEN I BURP which is happening quiet a lot eventhough I'm regularly releasing wind (aka farting) is this normal 4 days after the surgery? I read in most cases the pains will go by the second day or so. Also, the wounds where the cuts were made feel oddly itchy today which wasnt the case before, could it be that they're healing or did I not clean/dry them well after my first post-op shower today? And lastly, what's up with sleeping? does anyone else who did the surgery in my weight feel like they're unable to lay down anymore from the discomfort of their big belly? I feel like not only is it painful to sleep on my tummy or sides but even when I sleep on my back I feel an enormous pressure from my tummy pushing towards my inner stomach and way to my back which gives me the feeling of choking and I'm unable to breathe. Let me know what ya'll think. Thanks!

Looks like there are many things to consider and reconsider from everything I read in here... was hoping it could be a quick one but looks like I'm gonna have to keep it till December (my next leave for Christmas) and just keep dieting until then. I've already been dieting for a week now btw since last Saturday until date. As for my regular lifestyle diet, I'm vegetarian and I don't smoke at all (quit in 2006) and I don't drink alcohol at all (also since 2006) and I don't have any medical issues so far neither diabetes nor cholesterol nor blood or heart pressure thankfully nothing as such... my initial Dr's visit is planned for sometime next week during my leave and will see what he will advise then on the preparations and the recovery part too. Oh and btw no my work doesn't involve any lifting I'm a "fat banker" lol I sit on my desk all day and boss around a team of 33 people lol. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Hi all, I have posted recently telling everyone that I have decided to go with the surgery but from what I'm reading here I understand that it takes quiet a while until one goes into the OR but I am unable to comprehend why, is it only an insurance approval thing or is mandatory to go on a certain diet before surgery or how is it? So my question consists of two parts: 1) If I have the money with me now and I am ready to pay it in cash without a second thought, when can I have the operation done and do I still have to wait or can I just go get my routine medical tests done and have the surgery the next day? 2) If let's say it turns out to be as quick as I am claiming, for example I go on Monday do the tests, I get the results by Tuesday and Wednesday I do the surgery, when can I go back to work? Is 2 days of home rest post surgery enough to go back to work thereafter? Reason I'm asking is because I have 7 days of leave from work during last week of September (that's next week) and I have the funds in pocket which I can afford spending on this. Will I be able to make it back to work after my 7 days leave say if I do the surgery on the third day and get 4 days of rest. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Thanks everyone really appreciate the support! This is an amazing place I must say, really helps a lot to see and speak (or chat) to people who are going or have already gone through the same thing you're going through too... Thanks again, it really helped. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Done! It's a closed group though so I'm awaiting approval. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

True it isn't my weight alone that could be the problem during anesthesia but the good news is that I don't drink alcohol at all, I don't smoke at all and I don't eat meat at all (yes I'm an obese vegetarian). I also don't take any kind of medications and thankfully I don't have a single health issue (yet), no blood sugar, no blood pressure, no cholesterol etc. so I think everything else is fine. And yes you're also right about the risks of my weight against the risks of the surgery, I mentioned that myself that if I stay as I am now then I give myself 6-7 years or 10 maximum and then poof I'm a goner. So yes this surgery is definitely the only way to life for someone in my weight. And last, I already started with a diet 2 days ago even before my first visit to the surgeon next week, I have already started to train myself to be more "food disciplined". Anyway let's hope for the best... Hope I can get some more inputs from more people who have gone through this. Appreciate it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
