It could be transfer addiction because you cannot really eat to excess but you can still drink. It might be a good idea to work on what emotions etc you were soothing with food.

Do I need a wheelchair... what about protein for flights?
clasheljac2 replied to AK_Bookworm's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
A wheelchair can keep you safe but you need to avoid blood clots. So get up and stretch,do ankle pumps and circles, and walk behind the wheelchair as much as you can. Use the chair only if you have to. -
Hypothyroidism and frustrated
clasheljac2 replied to Candigal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Never stop your thyroid meds!!!!!!!### You need them for life. If you skip it you can go into a myxedema coma and heart failure and die, even at age thirty. I saw it happen, the woman was comatose for months then once awake, seemed to be brain injured. -
I used Senokot S and take 6 @a time. I take lyrica and Verapamil and both are constipation. I just use every third day and go a few hours later. I used to take them twice a day but I hate going all day long. I find it convenient to just go once!!!! I have been this way for years so most people need less than 6. Start low and go slow and gradually increase the dose of pills until you get it. I buy 1000 at a time on Amazon.

Does VSG really need Bariatric vitamins vs. regular chewable?
clasheljac2 replied to Seraya's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I use Trader Joes High Potency chewable and take two a day. I think the Bariatric stuff is mostly overpriced. -

Firefighter considering VSG surgery
clasheljac2 replied to jlem525's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes have the surgery! Before it you will have to lose a little weight to show your commitment and to shrink your liver. Then going in you will be afraid and after uncomfortable. That lasts about 4 months then you can eat anywhere and swallow easily. Then you need to establish an exercise program and think differently about food. This will be easy because you will feel more confident and assertive. Then your weight will disappear and you will join the average size people in society and attain your potential. I was afraid but now I am so happy to be myself and not constantly thinking about food . I realize that this was the smartest decision that I ever made !!!!!!! -
Why do so many people like "my 600 pound life" ?
clasheljac2 replied to goldenbarbie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I watch it because as they give excuses,I can hear myself making the same excuses. It helps me realize that I could have gone up to 600 too. I was sleeved December 1, and I am down to a BMI of 34 from the 40's. In 30 pounds,I will be just overweight. The first part of this is hard. -

Anyone tried stomach taping or bandaging?
clasheljac2 replied to Lala'sthinFtW's topic in The Gals' Room
Adhesive tape works on sweaty patients to hold tubes in. It is rough stuff hard to get off so use tape remover and use tincture of benzoin or skin prep before you put it on. Before you put it on make sure it is clean and dry and wait til the surface feels tacky before you put the tape on. You probably can get this white tape several inches wide. Medical supplies and veterans hospital have it. You might check with bridal consultants. People have done this before,so ask and ask again. Sent from my N9518 using the BariatricPal App -

5 oz of protein OR 10 cookies
clasheljac2 replied to jellybean12's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was practically dying post operatively,so I was glad I could eat a cookie and get calories. I was passing out. Then I bought Protein bars and chewed them up thoroughly and that and increasing Water helped. I went out and bought OTC Omeprazole magnesium and have been taking two a day, doctor said good to taking two so good. I read a lot of the lecturing messages on here and decided to try harder. Eating the carbs stopped my weight loss. So I started a little exercise and now I am losing a pound a day. This is a tough adjustment, and I think it is hard to figure out how to succeed. It is funny watching the serial dieters interact with the people who have never been able to control their diet. I think this is most likely due to the ghrelin hormone. I read somewhere that there is ghrelin in your body for weeks after the surgery,so you are still craving etc. I wonder if the good dieters on here are lower ghrelin secreters. I really think that people who do not have an elevated amount of ghrelin in their bodies cannot understand what it is like to be this way. It is like some one gave you prednisone every day. So if you just had surgery,be warned you have to be very strict because you have a load of the hormone that causes uncontrolled eating and a tiny stomach with a huge incision line that could rupture and kill you. So fellow ghrelin secreters,be very careful postoperatively not to eat a huge amount. Your life depends on it. Sent from my N9518 using the BariatricPal App
