  1. Bandfan, I got my first fill today also! We are on the same schedule so far. Mine went well also. The needle burned but, I think because my scars are still alittle touchy. I had to lay down, put my feet together and pick them up 6 inches off the table and then he filled. I didn't ask how much he filled. I thought about it after I left. I also had to drink a liquad but, mine was thick stuff while they watched and xray to make sure it was working fine.

Well, good luck and glad to hear all went well! To the May Flowers! Hooray we are on our way!

  2. Hey ya'll. Well, I am doing OK. I have been on mushy food now for some time and can't go to soft solids till around 1 Jun. I have my first fill on the 28th of May. A little scared. I have found I have been getting more hungry lately. I can not imagine eating a piece of pizza bandfan. I am sure that was wonderful!!! I did make some chicken parmesan with chicken tenders and spagetti for my family a few nights ago and put a little of it in the chopper and blended it up and ate a little of that. It was pretty good. A few noodles didn't blend all the way but, I made sure I chewed them "to liquad"...ha! I have found that I've been having some pain just below my port more toward and ovary area? Not sure if it is all tied together with muscle and it is all just trying to get situated. It comes and goes. So, not sure if maybe it is even gas? I am going to try a gasx strip tonight and see if it clears it up. We'll see. Sounds like everyone is doing well. When do you all get fills? You'll have to let me know how it goes if its before the 28th. Take care all! :biggrin2:

  3. JustVal, I am also a May 1 bandster! I am sorry you don't have the support. I really believe our families/friends do not get it unless you seriously explain it to them. I have had to sit my kids down and explain how the whole thing works for them to stop asking me "are you ever going to eat again?" or "you choose to do this" when I have the sad puppy look when they are eating something I would love to have. Once I explained it in detail they stopped. I think as time goes by and the weight keeps coming off and your eating habits get in line with the band they will see you as an inspiration to take better care of themselves. If not it will be there health loss. So, hang in there and know you will be a great mentor to them to better their health in the long run! Good LucK! Enjoy that beach! Just think of that bathing suit you'll be in before you know it!

  4. Egan, Yes, I was banded on the first and yes you'll get winded for a few days. Don't give up on walking though because I also had/have that shoulder gas pain. It hurts like a #%#$#@!!! It is getting better with time. I also had and have that flemy thing going on and my throat was sore. I believe now though I have a throat infection I'm calling tomorrow. It is so swallon and it tighten every once in a while and makes me cough real bad...hurts the throat and the incisions. So, just make sure you don't get out around any sick people. I'm not sure where I could have gotten it but, I am sure with it being sore from the surgery didn't help it along. Hang in there with the gas pain....it does get better. I promise. I still can't sleep on that side it hurts so bad but, it is getting better. The doc said a week or two before it should clear up. Walk, walk, walk. That is what I've read and been told. Hang in there! I was exactly where you are just week ago! In a week you'll feel much better. :frown:

  5. Terri, I think everyone is alittle sorer..is that word?..ha. Anyway, My port site is really about right in the middle between my bra line and my waist line. So, its pretty much right in the middle. I think it is where I bend the most. But, I am sure it will get better with each day. Tomorrow is a week since surgery and I can't believe what I am able to do already. I don't see my doc until next Friday. I am actually coming down with a pretty bad sore throat so, I think I will be calling the nurse tomorrow to find out if I need antibiotics...My throat hurts so bad. I thought at first it was because of the tube they put in your throat during surgery but, it keeps swelling up and i also have a cough...which can be painful sometimes. But, I am at work and for the most part things are all good. Just taking it a little slower then usual. :frown:

  6. Went back to work today. A little tired but, hanging in there, nothing to worry about. My port site is really where I hurt the most. Still having the gas pains in the shoulder. Not as bad but, still there. I've been walking hoping it will help. I'm sure with time. You should be OK to go back to work just ensure you get your rest in between moving around. :)

  7. I had surgery last Thurs and will be going back to work tomorrow (Tue). If I didn't have a desk job I wouldn't go back but I can rest at my desk. The pain is mainly the gas pain in my shoulder. The incisions aren't to bad. Just were the port is, is really the sorest spot. Work on Tuesday is very do able as long as you are not in to much of an active job. I made dinner tonight for the family...took about an hour on my feet. I was ready to sit and take a rest. I think it is really individual for the most part. If your willing to get up and move around alot from the start you will have no problems. Good Luck!

  8. well I am home. The pain is not totally intolerable. The gas in the shoulder is the most painful believe it or not. I've read I just need to do alot of walking. I did in the hospital but, the doc said it could take a week or two to disappear. I hope not. Still sore but, not to bad! I'll keep in touch. Time to take a nap and rest.

  9. THANKS EVERYONE! Almost there! I will be sure and check back in with you all as soon as I can. My doc requires I stay in the hosp overnight so maybe I'll message on Friday! Thank you so much for all the words of encouragement....back at ya's...your days are coming quickly!!!! Chat with you all soon!!!! MAY the force be with you all! ha! ha!

  10. Angelic you can just get right back on that horse! I know its hard but, you can do it. Just think of the goal. I'm know we will all stick with you and talk you through rough times. The pre-op thing is hard....I hate the headaches I'm getting. Drives me crazy. Not sure if its from not being able to eat or maybe no caffine? All I know there is a light at the end of that tunnel we are all trying to find our way out of! hang in there! You'll do fine! :blushing:

  11. Well, I am another May 1ster! The last 7 days have been tough on the liquad diet but, it got easier as it went. I am very excited but, think I'll also get worried when they are ready to put me out. That and I hope I don't have all the gas pain I've been reading about. I love this place. It is a great support system for all of us!

  12. My name is Stacy and I am 41. My surgery is sched for 1 May. I just found out today. I am 5'5 and 230. I have struggled with my weight ever since I had my kids but, it has gotten much worse in the last 2 years after I retired from the Air Force. Everyone in my family has health issues with high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease etc.... I currently have high blood pressure and am on the brink of diabetes. So, this surgery I'm hoping will help save my life along with prolong it. I have had to watch my parents and brothers suffer from so many ailments because of there weight and health. I do not want that. I have a 17 yr old daughter and a 13 year old son. I want to see them graduate from h.s. and college and be at their weddings and be their for their children. I want to be healthy again and feel good. So, I am very excited about this surgery. I live in TX. I am a retired veteren of the USAF. I am so happy that there is a forum we can all support eachother! I am excited and proud to be a May Flower!
