I agree, I definitley want to hear more about that doctor. Especially since there is that other story that keeps popping up about the lady (I think in her 40's) who was implanted by the same doctor who has quadruplets on the way. She is now supposedly hospitalized without any health insurance. How on earth can people afford reproductive procedures and still rely on assistance in any form? You can spend thousands on procedures but don't have basic health insurance. I had to pay for my band out-of-pocket, but I do have reasonable health insurance.

OMG . . . I really don't think it is healthy to double up super tampons. There is only limited space for expansion up in there . . . at least I think so. That much compressed material would probably work more like a cork, not a lovely thought. If I ever flowed so heavy I thought I might need two, I would still never use more than one and add a pad for good measure. Another option is to change much more frequently.

I also take meds on an empty stomach with a large hot beverage. It really seems to keep it moving.

I had the same issue, but a small unfill completely fixed the problem. It is no longer an issue for me but is an extreme issue if I am too tight.

Onederland is great but I can't wait til 2sday
HeatherO replied to Bracchus's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Each little milestone is a blessing :0). Nothing feels better than when you hit a good one. I think I have heard it called twoterville before as well but 2sday is more interesting, lol. Happy melting to the 2sday goal!!! -
I agree with what everyone else has said. You can do this, you have already taken off over 100 pounds. You just need to get back in the right frame of mind again. I think the 5 day pouch test is an excellent way to get started in changing the mindset. I wish you the best of luck.

Congratulations and welcome to the land of normal!!! It is a great place to be.

Congratulations . . . that is very fast. You should be banded and working on your new life in no time.

Firing them was very risky on her part, especially if she is trying to cash in on whatever she can get. Not everyone is going to be so willing to donate away when she turns down assistance in this manner. She will not be in the limelight forever and the bad press continues. Preemies don't need a lot of outsiders in the house, it didn't seem unreasonable for a nursing service that is really most interested in the health and well-being of the preemies to want to limit exposure. It seems like octomom prefers the three-ring circus atmosphere but that is doing nothing for the children.

Austrian incest father pleads guilty to all counts
HeatherO replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in Rants & Raves
I just can't believe that he was able to get away with this for so long . . . 24 years is horrific. If it was out in the middle of the country in a farmhouse, it would make more sense. If she never made it out of that basement once in 24 years, she would have had to go through pregnancy, childbirth and everything else on her own without medical intervention. I feel very sad for that poor woman and her children as well. This man knew he was doing wrong or he never would have worked so hard to keep it hidden. -
Replacement Addiction Poll
HeatherO replied to als74's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am into reading or being on the computer lately. It has been like an addiction in that I constantly seem to need to keep my mind busy. I am sure this taking place of some of the time spent eating in the past :0) -
I have had the same symptoms and my ob doctor said I needed to eat more frequently. It was happening between 11-12 AM and is related somewhat to pregnancy. I did do the glucose tolerance test and I passed it, but I must just be a little extra sensitive. I now keep a granola bar in my purse at all times just in case. I can feel really awful, but if I eat something semi sweet, I am normal again in 30 minutes or so. Orange juice does wonders for it.

I agree with the others. The liquid just hadn't gone down yet, because it does go down slowly. It is also easy to trigger the gag reflex or even feel latent nausea the first few weeks after banding. As far as spanx is concerned, try it out beforehand at home to see if it will be comfortable enough. It might still be a little early to wear it, but you will know for certain once you give it a shot.

I am right with you at 28 weeks and scared of gaining too much. I have probably gained about 7 kilos over the last two months. My problem is drinking, drinking, drinking . . . milk or juice or whatever, but Water just isn't as interesting for me right now. I know I am getting too much of my daily calories from liquids and then still eating more than I ever did while banded. I haven't yet gained excessively, but I feel like it is coming on. I could use some advice as well. My cravings are very strong and I am struggling.

everything that could go wrong...
HeatherO replied to jtrujillo44's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congratulations Jaclyn, you have done wonderful. I am happy that rebanding worked out so well for you and that you are maintaining. Your pictures are absolutely beautiful, both in the before and after pictures. -
Dr. Phil is as media hungry as Suleyman. I would have been much more surprised if he didn't take a personal interest in this case.

Congrats Banded08!!! I had to get a complete unfill during my pregnancy but it has not really derailed my weight loss. I hope you have a healthy and enjoyable pregnancy.

Pregnant and Banded...come join me!
HeatherO replied to raynie's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
That is wonderful news, isn't the relief unbelievable? It is so nice to eat normally again after suffering for a little while trying to get in enough calories. -
Pregnant and Banded...come join me!
HeatherO replied to raynie's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
I had the same problem and had to get a complete unfill. Now I feel sooo much better and the baby is growign healthily. The sooner you get an unfill, the better for both you and the baby. -

My DH showed me a picture of her exposed belly on the internet when she was preggo. The picture looked real . . . but you never know with the internet. I am sure you can find it if you search for it. Where most of us at the end of pregnancy look like we swallowed a basketball, she looked like she swallowed a beach ball. What really shocked me is that she didn't look as bad as I would have expected with stretch marks galore, there were some, but she had less than I did with my first pregnancy. I was thinking munchausen's as well but didnt bring it up because I didn't want to offend anyone and wasn't sure if it is related. It makes sense in that, like I mentioned before, it seems like most of the efforts are involved in the bearing of children more than the raising of children. If she was thinking at all about the children she already had, she wouldn't have continued to overcrowd and stretch resources both financially and emotionally for her pre-existing children. How can you really nurture so many children as a single parent relying on your mother and not leave them semi-neglected? I can't help but wonder what kind of adults they will become if they don't get enough support as children. The papparazzi and media clowns are definitely not going to contribute to a healthy self-concept for those kids, nor is their media hungry mamma.

can my band tighten up after being on a plane?
HeatherO replied to clifton81's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is an excellent point. I should have mentioned that when my band is looser and there is less fill, there is no affect from flying. When I am tight, I feel a definite difference. kgloverii, you look fabulous. I like the new picture. -
2nd fill massive restriction.....?
HeatherO replied to SoonToBeTheRealMe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got massive restriction on my second fill as well. I took off some weight in a hurry and a few weeks later my band was comfortably restricted (Proteins were OK again) and I had reached my sweet spot. That one fill lasted me 5-6 months and is where I lost most of my weight. You don't want to rely too much on slider foods but if you can get things down without pb'ing . . . I would give it a little time. Another thing with the second fill is that what I had learned about "chew to goo" and eating slow was not sufficient. I had to relearn the bandster rules at a different level of restriction. What was good enough before wasn't sufficient after until I took the time to reaquaint myself. -
I agree with tapshoes. If you have doubts about following through, and you didn't even try with the pre-op, then you weren't ready then. You have to find the time that is right for you because it needs to be a dedicated commitment to a lifestyle change. I would also worry about having colonized MRSA and then having a medical device surgically implanted while your still battling it. I am not sure that MRSA would bode well for the band or port if you get a serious infection that can't be eliminated. You could lose your band before you even get a chance to put it to good use. Banding will still be here for you when you are psychologically and physically ready for it. Even if it is not this year, it may not be very far down the road.
