Judy, I am sorry about the trip. It sounds like you need trip insurance for your husbands line of work. Hopefully you can make it up some other time. I understand your wanting to stay home with your husband . . . I would be the same way because it just isn't the same without your DH. Haydee, the pictures are wonderful. Ayla started doing a really big cheesy grin where she lifts her head, squints her eyes and smiles sooo big and silly that everyone can't help but laugh when they see it. It is soo cute. I keep trying to catch it on film, but I can't hardly get her to look at me when I have a camera unless it is to try and take the camera off my hands, lol. The weather has been so beautiful here, it is hard to believe it already feels like summer. Everyone have a great day!!!

How long did it take you to conceive?
HeatherO replied to mrsparker621's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
I went off of BC and never had another period. It happened the first month which was sooo much quicker that I expected. My Gynecologist said it would most likely happen within six months and I am not a spring chicken anymore so it was a big surprise when it happened immediately. -
Any advice is welcome!

With my band baby, I didn't get a positive until about 1 1/2 weeks after I was supposed to start. I am not sure why, maybe I just ovulated late in the cycle and it was off for other reasons. I think I may have had posts on this site saying I keep getting negatives but TOM never started . . . what do you think. Anyways, I don't know why but that was how it was for me - a late positive. I also had my due date adjusted after the first sonogram so it appears as though I didn't really conceive until my TOM was actually due to start. -
I feel a little Lost in all of these discussions about Lost at work, lol. I didn't watch it so I have no idea what is going on. It seems as though everyone is perplexed . . . which leaves me even more perplexed. If any of you figure it out, please let me know, lol. Judy, Grady is not even two yet so it seems wayyy too early to be worried about speech. I want to go fimming too. Our pool is not even open yet. Haydee, welcome back. It sounds like the honeymoon was lovely. Hello to everyone else :0)

Pam, it just sounds like everyone is swapping rooms . . . what was the point of doing all that in the first place?
-
Laura, sorry about all the drama. There is nothing like being treated so unfairly to ruin a good day. Ditto on what everyone else said on how to handle it. Took Ayla to a new library last night and ended up getting a card and found Under the Dome by Stephen King. I can't wait to sink my teeth into it but it feels like I am a college student again carrying around a book as heavy as a cement block, lol. Judy, you really got me in the mood for this book. I appreciated your offer to send me yours but I wasn't sure there would be a truck big enough to ship it to Ohio, lol :0) Everyone have a lovely Friday. I will check in later when I have a little more time.

Jane, Taxing district work sounds so dry . . . but good luck and have fun anyway. :0)

Lol, Judy. That was cute. I can't believe this pastor saga is never ending, it has been such a thorn in your side for so long now. You would think that the pastor would feel all of these bad vibes and make a decision to move on of his own free will. Also, it makes me sad to think about Ethan moving away expecially with the family drama that goes on every once in a while. You and Ethan have been such a big part of each others lives. Pamela, I hope today is a better day for you. I can't believe the school year flies by so quickly. I would also love a year round programe, that is for sure. I think it is better for the kids. Also, Santa Barbara sounds divine, I hope you have a lovely time. Hmmm, I wonder if Haydee is enjoying herself thoroughly at this moment in time. Honeymoons are so magical and to be newly married is a feeling you never forget. Hello to all the other Vi's!!! My husband and I went out for Indian food last night and I ate wayyy too much. I need to get back on a plan again.

I am happy everyone made it back in one piece. :0) Michelle, your life is soo busy . . . I don't know how you used to do PTA too on top of all the other craziness. :0) All this talk of weight watchers is making me start to think that I should consider going back on points tracking. It always works for me. Everyone make it a good one. :0)

Wow, I can't believe they grew so huge so fast, but they are adorable.
-
Haydee, Congratulations!!! I saw a few pics on Facebook but am really looking forward to seeing a lot more. I am definitely jealous. It seems like everyone had a great time from what I can see so far. Did I mention I am jealous??? lol I would love to join all of you at a Violet get-together in the future. :0) Laura, how is Carson doing now? Ayla got H1N1 last Fall and she had such a mild case of it, you would never have guessed that was what it was. Hopefully he will get better soon.

Judy, I hope you have a great time at Lord of the Dance . . . I always thought that would be a great show. Jane, I wore capris yesterday and loved it. It is so nice when the weather gets warm enough that you can start doing that.
-
Michelle, I am sooo happy that you took that trip. I think you not only deserved it but needed it after the emotional upheavals over the last couple of months. Also, I was just curious, when you shopped to make up for those special "mommy" moments missed . . . were you shopping for you, the kids or both, lol???

Laura, I love the pictures of Carson. They turned out really nice for the 1 year shots.

I read a short story about Stephen King this week that really got me thinking. A doctor tells a man that his metabolism is like a workcrew. When you are young they work hard and can generally keep up with the crap you give them (greasy burgers, left over cake, etc.). However they are getting older just like we all are. As we continue to give them crap they have to work harder but are now slower, sometimes they get sick and miss a day of work and maybe one of your metabolism guys has an accident and dies off leaving you with less guys to keep your body clean. But of course . . . being a Stephen King tale the guys come to life and want to take revenge for their grievances. It sounds like a cheesy analogy but it kind of stirred my imagination a little bit. If my job was to clean up after the inappropriate, unhealthy things that I have eaten in the past - working 12 hour days, no weekends off, too tired when you get home to do anything but go to sleep and do it again the next day, I would not be a happy camper. Anyways . . . it is strange to think that in the past I have abused my body in ways that I would never allow another individual to do to myself as a person. Why do we justify to ourselves that it is OK to abuse our bodies in this way and then we blissfully go about doing it day after day?

In the hospital's perspective the situation is done and writing a reply to their letter won't really do anything for you. It is good that they changed their policies for the future(although who's to say they really changed anything) but that does not take away from how they treated you at that time. Also, are you or your insurance company being billed for the ER treatment you didn't receive . . . if so that is a real issue. I agree with the previous poster, you need to take it to the state medical board so that they can investigate. If they turned you away in this manner, it stands to reason that they have probably done other inappropriate things with other patients. The hospital will say whatever they need to say just to get the situation to go away, but the state medical board can make life difficult and unpleasant when they deny patients emergency care. This is a serious issue and it needs to go above the level of the hospital.

I really need to check out Modern Family because I keep hearing about it, lol. I don't even now what it is about so maybe I should just dvr it. Ayla is getting so big, it is strange but I seem ambivalent about it. I am excited and happy for her to reach each new milestone but at the same time I am sad that I have to let go of the Ayla I know at each prior stage. Babyhood passes way to quickly.

Michelle, I hope you have a lovely time at Disney . . . I think you need a little time away for yourself. Have a lovely day everyone!

Laura . . . the videos are really cute. Also with my son it was never terrible twos - it was during the time when he was one and through temper tantrums. It was much easier when he was 2 because there was some control and he wasn't frustrated so easily. I think I abused my daughter yesterday and didn't even know it. I put a cute spring dress on her in the morning and whisked her off to the sitters. I got her home last night and she was crawling really funny. The dress did not allow her to crawl on her knees because it hung past her knees . . . so in one day she relearned to crawl like a crab with her butt in the air and her knees up off of the ground. It looked absolutely ridiculous and she continued to do it even with her sleepers on. I should have gotten it on video. I am so jealous of all the violets going to the wedding. i can't believe it is almost here. I hope that I get to see lotttsss of pictures. :0)

Hello everyone, Michelle, <<< hugs >>> I am tired, tired, tired today. My husband and I helped our friend pick up her cousin at the airport last night. I asked my husband for leaving if she checked the flight before leaving and he said yes. Come to find out, she didn't even know what flight he was on or what airline . . . just that he took Turkish Airlines from Istanbul to Chicago and should arrived in Cleveland at 9:30 PM. Come to find out, every flight out of Chicago that should have arrived at 9:30 was at least 180 minutes late. So he finally arrived around 1 AM, and we didn't get to bed until 2:30 in the morning . . . just to toss and turn all night. Unexpected delays happen often in flying and I know that all too well after years and years of flying. The worst thing is that I knew better to check before leaving and just assumed that she knew as well. Next time I'll ask more questions before leaving and check the flight. Oh well, perhaps I'll take a nap at lunchtime instead of eating :0)

Thanks :0) Her birthday will be here before I know it. I have to start making plans.

Have you ever felt restriction? If you have been going every six weeks for two years and never felt it I would wonder if you have a leak. Do they extract the Fluid when you get a fill to measure the volume?
-
If you don't have any restriction, the band isn't working for you to help and you are in no better position than what you were in prior to banding. If making perfect choices all the time without restriction would work for you then you wouldn't have needed the band in the first place. If you don't have restriction, why are you waiting to get back on track before getting a fill? When you have restriction and actually feel full . . . making the right choices becomes sooo much easier. You do need to take responsibility for making good choices such as Proteins first, avoid ice cream, etc. However, it is really important to allow the band to help you. By not going in to get more fills when you don't have restriction, you are making a decision to not allow the band to do what it is intended to do. Fills are expensive, but necessary if you want to make this journey a success. Most people who do not succeed with the band stop using aftercare and support services . . . you don't want to fall into this category. If it is important to you, and you wouldn't be posting if it wasn't important, take the next step and schedule an appointment. I wish you the best of luck in reaching restriction.

Michelle, I agree with everyone else . . . you have done everything you could for Mo. Whichever decision you make will be the right one I am sure. This has been a really rough year for Mo. Judy, I take advil liqui-gels, but only rarely and on an empty stomach during the day which is usually followed by two cups of hot tea to make sure it flushes through quickly. That way they can't stay in the pouch for any length of time. My band doctor has given me the OK to do this on a rare occasion (no more than once a week). I occasionally get very bad headaches and Advil is the only thing that works for me (Tylenol is completely inaffective in my system and I don't know why). Laura, I feel your pain . . . been there and done that several times over the winter with ear infections. It is awful and even after it is over Ayla's sleep is still disrupted because she likes all the additional coddling and playing at night. If she continues to get ear infections I am definitely getting tubes in her ears. This would be a couple of difficult days for her after they are placed . . . but it is far better than the days and days of screaming misery we battle with the ear infections themselves. Janie, I wish you lived a little closer to me . . . I need some advice on getting a new 'do. I want to go shorter, maybe a bob with some highlights but I have natural curl. I am scared to make a change but want a change. I just don't know what to do.

Earthday is April 22nd each year . . . but I can never remember and always have to look it up, lol. We always go to a big event at the Cleveland Zoo which was last Sunday. However, we skipped it this year because the day was overcast and rainy and Ayla was cranky so I just couldn't muster up the energy to try and make it work. I guess there is always next year. :0)
