  1. At nearly 6 weeks, I have finally started an exercise regimen. My hubby and I have been going out to walk the dog around the neighborhood since the weather has been cooler, and tonight we are going to the gym. What a switch from before surgery, coming home to drink wine, eat a big dinner and veg in front of the TV!

Still sounds terribly romantic! Lucky you. Lucky hubby!

Congrats. May I suggest an Alta Fitbit. I am not highly motivated but this watch contraption vibrates while I am home or work and lets me know when I need to go log in some steps. Movement is important! I go up and down the stairs at work about three times a day. It's great.

  2. Still struggling with solid foods. I have decided to eat a couple of bites and stop. Then, if I am still hungry after 5 or 10 minutes, I will eat another couple of bites. My only issue: When do I have time to drink?

Use 30 minutes for your meal and then stop, wait 30 minutes and drink liquids.

  3. I am from DFW and our surgeries are just 2 days apart. I can totally relate to what you are saying. I have been in the same boat, and I'm starting to "get it". I really have to focus on chewing and eating super slowly with the denser proteins, otherwise I end up hating life for about an hour. But I'm also noticing that each day it gets a tiny bit better. Small victories!

Thanks! I'm still trying to figure out the mechanics of this site. I thought I was posting a comment on someone else's status! In any case, thanks for the words of encouragement!
