I didnt tell any one I work with because its none of their business and becuase of the new HIPPA law no one in HR can release any info about you being off work for sickness. I told my boss I was having bowel problems which I still do have and I needed to be off work for exploratory surgery to see whats wrong with me becuase they don't know exactly what... But then if you decided to tell you boss only tell then you are having abdominal surgery. Most people I know who have had WLS are usually under the Microscope and everybody is checking them out and seeing how much weight they have lost already. I had to go to the ER room a couple of weeks ago and I told the ER nurse I had the surgery and the first thing she asked was how much weight have you lost so far... I really wanted to tell her none of your bussiness but I did need her help so I kept my cool. I told her I had the LB surgery and WL wasn't as fast as RNY. Now keep in mind when I was in the ER room I was only 3 weeks out from my surgery, I told her that but I guess she was looking for me to say about 30 or 40 lbs I don't know but I was offended by her asking. the nurse had no clue as to what the lap band was I told her to go online and learn about it. Any ways I didn't tell my family either my mom is so against it. I only told my husband and hopefully he has kept it to himself.

I'm doing much better now I was in the ER room last week. I pulled a few muscles the pain was horrific... I think its time for a fill becuase I can eat almost as much as I was before banding and I dont get a tightness or pain or PB. I had a lot of not so good calories today Chocolate/ and Ice Cream... any ways I usually just stop eating simply becuase I put my life on the line (surgery) to lose weight and I know I cant lose weight if I'm back to my old habbits. I see the Dr on Friday and hopefully he will have a new Nurtrition on staff by then... I need a little help as to what I should be eating each day... Someone posted pyramid on one of the threads and that was helpful.

I read early in my research of the lapband that if the band is placed in the wrong position it can cause complications ... I sure hope thats not the case... Oh and Thanks Anthony for the response

I have severe back pain as well... I was banded on the 12/15 and I was in the ER room on 1/5 - 1/6... I was told I had pulled the muscles in my stomach and I also had kidney stones... My back is killing me now but I'm not ready to give up the band as of yet... it hasn't been a month for me and I haven't lost much weight. I really want to wait it out... I'm back on Lortab and now Celebrex... I only need to take 15 cc of the Lortab and it will last almost 20 hours. So now the pain is back but I can move around without screaming so I won't take the medicine.I don't like the Celebrex makes me feel so I probably will only take 1 pill a day instead of 2... I see the Dr on Friday.... I love the band and I'm too new to give it up, I'm only 3 weeks out and I'm going to try to wait it out and hopefully Ill heal soon...

Bad News!!! I just came home fromthe ER I pulled the muscles in my stomach.. Pain from HE double hockey sticks... I'm back on Lortab and now Celebrex. Surgery DR. said it ok for the celebrex... I'm a little depressed becuase I had increased my walking to 2 30 minute walks a day... Now I cant do any exercise. I'm a little low in spirits now so say a prayer for me...

HI everybody... I was banded on the 12/15 and since I"ve been on mushy foods I"ve been experiencing extreme pain at night when it time to go to bed. I think its hunger pain my stomach starts to growl and its very painful. I don't want to eat at 11 p.m. becuase its to late but then I'm up till 3:00 am with stomach pains and hipcups... I called the Dr today and the nurse told me I wasn't getting enough protein in I should have 3 shakes a day... If I eat to much I don't PB but I get extremly bad pain in my left side like nerve pain almost close to what I was experiencing during the 1st week post op. So I only eat 1 thing at at time 1/2 cup of whatever mushy it will be. But over all I"m doing pretty good I exercise every other day about 30 mins at a time. and oh! I have a lot of pulling and sensitive pain near the port it is still a little warmer than the rest of my body. I ve been checking for swelling and redness none so far. I hope others are doing good...

Count me in... I'm still on full liquids and I don't log in every day but it will be nice to have the groups support... I've been very bad on the full liquids I tend to add 1/2 cup of low fat low sugar ice cream to my protein drinks... I bought EAS advantage protein drink from Walmart and it taste terrible... I'm out to purchase something more tasting this weekend so I wont have to add the fruit and lite ice cream to my drinks..

that was one of my questions for the Dr. after I learned about Brenda Scott's death. I did a big read up on it and was a little afraid when I learned it was the lapband surgery she had.. I asked Dr. Wood if he new what happened and how could that have been prevented and he said he requires a barium swallow and he doesnt release you on the same day as surgery... I had no food by mouth till after my swallow and then of course it was only liquids. He checked for leaks and I guess extreme swelling...(I guess that's to the point where you cant swallow)... Thank God I had neither and shortly after the swallow and my test results came back I saw Dr. Wood and may an hour or so I was released....

I had surgery on the 12/15 and my shoulder and lower back wont stop hurting... I belch so much that my throat is very sore. I'm miserable, I almost regret going through this after reading post from newbies on this group and others and how good they are doing... Ive tried walking, and heat pads but the only things that works is the meds. My portal areas are not bothing me anymore, so I didnt think I should take the meds for gas but I guess I'll have to give in tonight becuase I cant take it anymore. Can someone tell me how long will this pain last? :cry thanks a bunch

Im here with you on the cheating... I had surgery on 12/15 and I couldn't wait till today when I was off clear liquids. I didn't cheat during the 1st 6 days becuase I was in to much pain to even think about eating something not on my clear foods. I fell in love with chicken broth and raspberry jello during those days, I also drank at least 1 protein drink a day. For some reason I went into surgery at 241 lbs but when I came home the next day I was at 254lb dont figure:ermm. I'm now down to 238 lbs but I started full liquids today and boy have I had my share. I couldnt wait till I had the taste of something that wasnt broth or jello in my mouth. I woke up early this morning and cheated!!! I had 4 tablespoons of 1/2 fat Edy's ice cream and it was awesome. I can now eat things like sugar free pudding, yogurt, and cottage chesse only if I mush it in my mouth or blender. I've had more than I should have eaten today but not becuase I was hungry, only becuase I missed the taste of food. I was told to eat 6 small meals eat day and 2 snacks but those small meals can only include the foods I listed early plus creamed soups. Next week I graduate to pureed foods and that last for 2 weeks. Well guess what I cheated again before I knew it:alien... My husband has some Natural Lays in the kitchen and when he left to do some Christmas shopping I had about 10 chips or so... I regret eating those chips becuase now for some strange reason the pain is back... I won't be cheating anymore... Good Luck

yes my doctor instructed to do a Oral Fleet between 8 am and noon the day before surgery... I'm glad I did, I didn't have to worry about my bowels locking up after surgery as this has happened to me in the past. Also my nurse said it reduce vomiting... just had surgery on 12/15/05

hi I'm home... just had my surgery yesterday and I'm home now. All went well, I was up and walking midnight last night. had a scope today to make sure my band is ok and no leaks. all is well and I'm an official bandster. thanks for the support and prayers mrsgdmc

I dont have videos for pole dancing but I did find lap dancing and exotic dancing on amazon one is a carmen electra video... my husband loves the new moves... I'll enjoy doing them more when I get banded and I"m down 100 lbs or so.

I sure hope someone replies to the previous post about emotional before banding becuase I'm neverous as heck and I've been crying the last few days. I'm excited about the future new less of me, but for some reason I cant stop crying... Please help are there others out there who has had this experience..

I have Dr. Wood in Warren doing my surgery is there anybody out there that used the CORI centers? If so please post your experiences thanks.
