  1. Hey there! I experienced the same thing! My DR is one of the best, at least in NY and his wife is also a dr that works in the office as well as his son and daughter. My first time there I met with his wife first and explained that I do smoke but would quit, I've been obese all my life, I like sweets but I have no co morbidities and she was set on the sleeve because* I am young (25), relatively healthy, and if I ever took smoking back up it wouldn't be as harmful as with the rny. I was like okay sounds great. When the actually surgeon met with me he was adamant on the RNY because of my life time obesity, and because of my terrible reflux and because it's the gold standard the only way he would do it is if I quit smoking otherwise he would cancel surgery. Ya know what I did? I quit smoking and went with the rny and now Im 4 days post op already down 10 lbs! I was nervous as F about the RNY but all of these surgeries are invasive one way or another and I feel great..plus with the sleeve they pull your excess belly out of your belly button [emoji31] I just wanted to give you my input because my rny is already treating me well and it's not as scary as my former self and some people think it is. Best of luck [emoji171]

    Disgusted

Hey, no problem! I agree with what you said... some people seem to be a bit sensitive tho lol. I don't really think you were rude you just have an opinion like the rest of us! And good luck to you too doll!
  3. Thank you so much! Yes I had surgery on 4/5 8 am and was discharged yesterday so about 2.5 days! When I got home I felt great and still do. I notice that I am up more because I can't quite find a comfortable position on my bed but the Percocet helps with that lol otherwise I am definitely struggling with head hunger but I just laugh at myself because I have no other choice. I still have moderate pain mostly in the area of the port removal and I have my follow up on weds day.. I will say that I am down 7lbs since surgery day but I know it's mostly because of water and bloating [emoji228] haha
  4. Don't let that worry you.. i promise you it is going to be okay. When I saw my surgeon after surgery he mentioned that he was able to get all the scar tissue from my band out and I realized that, I had never really considered that to be a problem. Just relax and start putting good vibes out there in time for Monday! You need to be calm and healthy for surgery! Big hugs! P.s I just had a band to bypass on the 5th and I feel great! It will all work out! [emoji256]
  5. I am glad you are feeling better and that the Pea protein is working for you. As far as having the runs in the hospital.. girl let me tell you. The morning of my last day I was able to relieve gas for the first time since surgery and I was happy because I thought it would let me get rid of the gas pain... and it did. But boy I was NOT prepared for what was to come. Sorry for the TMI but the first time I was going to make a bowel movement I was embarrassed because I didn't want these nurses that I had gotten to know to walk into the bathroom and see it (they put measured bowls in the toilet) and it was in thy moment that I had to decided whether I was gonna sh*t my pants or in the bowl. I physically had to get over that worry because the rest of my last day was ALL that. I couldn't wait to be discharged so I could do it in my own home LOL! My point is, is that you will be fine! Just keep listening to your body [emoji23][emoji1]

I think there is a major difference between a vet who has kept 70+ lbs off because they are years out and their stomach has fully healed and they are adults who know their limits with "normal" food and newbies who come on the forums asking if not following your pre op diet is bad, or how soon after surgery can you have pizza- which I have seen. Of course I want to reply back with a lecture but I've just had surgery 2 days ago so I don't feel it's my place. It is extremely frustrating because the facebook groups are bullshit too. [emoji45] just gotta pick your battles I believe.
  7. Have you tried isopure? It is another source of protein that isn't thick it is more of a juice actually but the hospital gives it to you after surgery so while recovering I had a few packages delivered to my house. I personally LOVE the alpine punch flavor, better than grape. Hopefully you feel better!

    Weight loss

That's awesome!! Thank you for writing back to me! My revision is 1 week away. I have my pre surgical apts tomorrow. How has eating changed for you? With my band if I ate too fast or too much I would get a terrible stuck feeling and have to vomit. My band did get so tight that I couldn't even keep soup down so now that my band has been I filled I've had to start over with no restriction. People say they get a burp or hick up when their rny pouch is full, do you have the same?
  12. I can't believe it!! I got the call yesterday from my dr that my insurance is covering both the band removal and the bypass revision. Wednesday April 5th is the fucking day! I am so happy, I have suffered so long with the band I am ready for this! [emoji173]️[emoji173]️[emoji173]️[emoji173]️[emoji173]️[emoji173]️[emoji173]️[emoji173]️[emoji173]️[emoji173]️

4 MORE HOURS UNTIL CHECK IN!!!!

    Congrats girl!
  14. Hi all! After 3 years of suffering with my band, today with my first visit with a new doctor I already have a surgery day! I thought I was going to have to fight tooth and nail to get a revision, I can't believe how fast this process went. My surgery day is April 5th 2017. Now I have to quit smoking and lose 7lbs. My insurance required 1 month of a weight check in but I have 6 month worth of documented check ins from within the last 12 months. I am getting a band to bypass revision and now I am on to educating myself more about the bypass. Any tips, food suggestions or any other advise is GREATLY appreciated! hey girl. I know how you feel. I am on the gram if you would like to add. my "fitness" IG is our_fitforlifejourney and my personal is glitterandpyrimids. i stopped using my fitness one for a bit because I was being bombarded with teas and coaches and this and that and I'm just not into the BS. feel free to add. I am scheduled for my band to bypass revision in april, not sure which surgery your getting/ interested in getting.
  19. You could juice! Lol or just do your liquid diet ahead of schedule? :/ Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  20. i think if you can provide your insurance with your documented meets with your trainer, it should really help your case! My surgeon was extremely happy that I was able to provide documentation of my meetings and weight check ins over the 6 month period i saw my trainer- he said it was extremely helpful to send to my insurance. me and you are about the same BMI at the moment and my doctor told me I only need to lose 7lbs before surgery, so maybe your BMI alone will help your case! Hopefully this helps a bit but keep us posted!
  21. I can't tell you how helpful this has been thank you!!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  22. Hi guys! As I am preparing for my band to bypass revision, my doctor made it crystal clear I have to stop smoking. I have been smoking for about 5 years, which is terrible for me to even say, and I know I have to. if it came down to it I know I could just torture myself and do it cold turkey, but I am asking for advice or things that people have done that has helped them. I am considering the nicorette gum but again just asking for advice! Thank you!
  23. Thank you for the reply guys! I've decided to drink a lot more Water and add some sort of grape juice ( I read that it helps triple time to remove toxins for body?) and supplement cigarettes for tea.. wish me luck lol. Also, I have read a lot of people on here started to "vape".... does this not have the same side effects as smoking an actual cigarette?? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
